well i dont really count it as a camp because you don't get to stay or upgrade the place. theyre only there for a few minutes before they have to move again
Bonuses that keep me from raging during the chapter. Close to a train station if you know the area, close to okay hunting grounds for consumables, and lots if herbs in those spots. The chores in that area are streamlines, too. You could get two chores done like 1 if you plan the route correctly.
Would have honestly been a much better camp if they just would’ve had a downstairs room for Arthur. I actually liked that camp, my only gripe is the excess of slowly walking through the house
I’m from Queensland Australia it’s basically the south of the southern hemisphere lots of meth sugarcane cyclones and afew succession attempts I loved chapter 3 looked exactly like a childhood camping spot
It was at that point where Dutch finally lost his marbles. I remember him always giving those half coherent speeches in camp, where at that point he was just rambling about having faith, and that everything will be fine according to his plans. Lol No, Dutch. Nothing is fine. You lost your mind AND lost all control of your gang. Everyone either left, died, or has plans to leave because of you.
Chapter 2 camp is without a doubt the best close to the best town in the game of valentine not to mention the best view in the cliff side and something so calming about being close to the heartlands knowing that u can see from a far distance knowing that u will be able to see anyone coming after u
and the nicest countryside, stiff competition with the entire north of the map apart from where it's really snowy. But I'd say nicest part of the map in the whole game
Chapter 2, right after they get Sean, is probably the peak of the gang during the game's events. If only they had found out Micah was a rat during that chapter 😢
It broke my heart that in ch 4 I walked into the house to get to my ammo upstairs, turns out I walked into the room Dutch was in. Next thing I know IM ON A FUCKING ISLAND IN A LABOR WAR!! DAMN IT I JUST WANTED SOME ARROWS
fr, you actually got walls and a roof. plus, its probably easiest to defend seeing ss there's a whole fkn house to hide in and take cover in (we saw how good it was in horseman apocolypses)
Clemens Point is by far the best camp imo. The most hidden from land, right by the water for easy fishing, beautiful scenery, best camp interactions, and some of the best missions in the game happen in chapter 3. This camp had life and felt the most authentic. I wish there was a party during this time. Would've been perfect to have one after Arthur escaped the O'Driscolls
1. Horseshoe, because no one dies, and Arthur has not got *IT* yet 2. Clemens Point before the mission where a certain someone died 3. Beecher Hope, happy place, at least for 4 years 4. Shady Belle, you got a roof over your head, but morale start going downhill from here 5. Lakay, too brief to be considered 6. Beaver Hollow, it is just a depressing place, not to mention it was occupied by one of the most nasty degenerate gang before van der Linde gang.
Also Beaver Hollow was where tension and hostility between members was at its peak. It was also where many gang members realized they had enough and left.
no it's Colter, the O'Driscoll camp was Sadie Adler's place just up north of Colter. where 2 of 9 in game graves are that you need to inspect for 100% completion and finally get lvl 10 health stamina and deadeye
Yes, dude, it would be nice to see some life there, I remember I was exploring, and there was this frozen couple there with a dead horse next to them. There was also a collapsed cabin I came across with a small table with a drawer, If you open it. The drawer it says you flourish before you die
It's interesting how at each camp the tone, mood, and conversations changed at each location. By end game with Arthur I wouldn't even go back to camp unless I had to and would just camp somewhere. I can stay at Horseshoe overlook and Clemens Point forever. Clemens point is the best spot due to the water, everyone alive, Sadie isn't depressed, and there is just so much space for everything at camp.
This is so true. Upon my first play through, I took my sweet time in horseshoe overlook. Dutch had to keep screaming at me to get back to work bc I didn’t want to leave 😂
I'm on my second playthrough now, and i'm in chapter 2. I didn't rescued Micah and i didn't go to Downes yet. I'm just hunting and tries to get Legend of the West Satchel
Fun fact, you can complete chapter 2 without Micah ever seeing horseshoe overlook. You have to free Micah from strawberry jail to compete the chapter but after the mission he doesn’t go back to camp until you complete the stagecoach robbery with him which you can stave off until about half way into chapter 3
I can see why you would go with this but the house for me is just a little too creepy and run down. Just my opinion though. Clements would be my favorite.
Camps from Worst to Best (IMO): 9: Lakay 8: Guarma 7: Beaver Hollow 6: Colter 5: Pronghorn Ranch 4: Clemens Point 3: Shady Belle 2: Beecher's Hope 1: Horseshoe Overlook
Nothing beats camp number two. My favourite place. First after Colter. When everybody just happy that they could start a new chapter. That's the sweetest time when you at 1\3 of game and doesn't care about how it all will end.
yep but one other cool location for a camp would have been the secluded ranch Arthur and Javier bust into. the side mission job with that strange family and weird accent. you also find the free pump action shotgun in their large cabin.
Clemens Point is one of my favorites. The sunsets are beautiful and at that point in the game, many characters (like Sadie) started getting more involved. But Horseshoe overlook is a close second. It was nice to finally be out of the snow and get to see the mountains and wide open skies. And storywise, it was a strong start to the game after being stuck at Colter for a while. Beaver Hollow is my least favorite out of them all. It definitely feels more dark and secluded in that small little area. Then everyone is always angry, scared, depressed, so it made the whole mood feel even worse. It gets to me every time I replay, I just hate being there for longer then I need to be. But I do love how its basically the exact opposite of Horshoe overlook in every way. Not as spacious, terrible mood, lack of sky, etc. And I love how creepy Dutch looks at night when he's sitting there in his tent with his shadow being seen.
When I first moved to Lemoyne, that was my exact reaction! I loved that we were near water, had a boat, and were more secluded. Chapter 2's was a struggle for me as a newbie because O'Driscolls would constantly attack. So in following playthroughs, I'd pop every one I saw, there'd be a cool-off period of three days afterwards, and so I enjoyed free roaming a lot more. The rest were terrible. Didn't even wanna be around camp after Chapter 4.
Yeah... but all my favorite moments came from Beaver Hollow. I'll never experience absolving the money lending missions for the first time a second time again or see Arthur's sunrise for the first time again. A Quiet Time and Blood Feuds was great, but nothing will compare to that last conversation with Sister Calderón
Clemens Point will always be my favorite. Warm, quiet, hidden, at the lake with a little beach, a boat, a big beautiful tree in the center, the view to the small islands and the lake during sunset and sunrise is absolutely gorgeous and you got a small town with a train station, a post office, shop, restaurant/bar and gun store with Saint Denis just down the road not far away and nice land leading to the open beautiful hills of the heartlands in New Hanover. Definitely a spot where I'd love to live.
The chapter 6 camp is amazing in my opinion. The reason why i think this is because it feels so dreadful and depressing to be in it, which fits the theme of the chapter.
The Loft cabin could have been a cool place to make a camp but since that place is so far removed from anything, it probably wouldn't make much sense. you can actually sleep there as Arthur or John. and loot whatever there around the place.
I kinda like Beaver Hollow, there's some charm on living in a cave that was from a cannibal gange before, and also like that is a very tough place to be in general, the gang constantly discussing, can't donate money and all the animals around sick of scabies
Beaver also takes a deeper look into Dutch and his unstoppable descent into madness, apart from the fact that the gang (or what was left of it) was so tightly cornered that they needed to hide in a cave like actual animals. Back in chapter 2 or 3, Arthur mentioned how Dutch saw the world, how he didn't see them as the bad guys, and that hiding in a cave would take that all away. Well take a look at what ended up happening. He was so far gone at that point that he was the only one actually living inside the cave threshold. You could argue that he suffered a concussion from the trolley crash, but what I really think is that the real Dutch was hiding behind all that carisma and idealistic views of the world. The trolley crash didn't give him any sort of brain damage, it helped his real personality break through. Kinda like a Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of thing.
I liked spending the most time at the Clemens Point camp right at the start of Chapter 3. No one dead yet, Micah all the way over in Strawberry, and the camp had a great spot to kick back and fish.
Yup. I'm in chapter 6 on my 100% completion attempt and I'm visiting all of the map for Arthurs farewell tour. I went to Clemens point and fished off the pier and camped out remembering how the gang was happy there for awhile. Excuse me I've got something in my eye...
Beaver hollow was great because it really felt heavy with the atmosphere, i never felt so uncomfortable playing rdr 2 then when i was in beavers hollow. I almost dreaded having to go back. But that's what it has come to i guess
Best in my opinion is.. Horshoe overlook before we read Mary's letter that automatically approach by Strauss and free Micah from strawberry Clemens point at the beginning of chapter 3
The best moment for me is Clements Point before the "Rhodes Mission". The camp is calmed, Micah just keeps distance and doesnt interact much with the gang, no one is dead. i mean, its perfect. Then if you got he "Rhodes Mission", everythong just goes downhill
Snowy mountain camp: Cool, i like snow. Horseshoe Overlook: Great, like spring. Rhodes camp: Okay, like summer. Plantation house: KIERAN NO!!!! Larkay: Cool battle with pinkertons. Beaver hollow: Desolate, decreped, and depressing. I never even got to say goodbye to Pearson or Strauss.
Colter: I mean its alright like... Horshoe Overlook: It was perfect, perfect Clemens Point: WOOOOOO Shady Belle: I don't like it very much Guarma: It's the biggest piece of dog sh** Lakay: I mean its alright like... Beavers Hollow: I don't like it very much Pronghorn Ranch: WOOOOOOOO Beechers Hope: I don't like it very much
Shady belle is the best imo east acess to both rodes and Saint Denis which have everything you could need in the game and if you need to go anywhere else there is train stations at both of the spots so you can just fast travel
John's farm: WOOOOOOOO
Did you mean beecher's hope?
It was perfect

Nvm the house he built is the farm💀

Yeah there's no ledger, and the only thing you can do is donate to pearson
I mean it's Lakay vs Beaver Hollow for me. I guess I'd pick Lakay since it's so close to Saint Denis.
The most annoying thing about chapter 4 was having to walk all the way through the house to get to Arthur’s room.
Bonuses that keep me from raging during the chapter. Close to a train station if you know the area, close to okay hunting grounds for consumables, and lots if herbs in those spots. The chores in that area are streamlines, too. You could get two chores done like 1 if you plan the route correctly.

but you can enter johns room and antagonize the marstons whenever you want LMAO
That’s actually really not a big deal at all
Camp number 3 has always been my favorite one I love the nature the lake and how wide it feels like a lot of space
Yea and thats when all the gang was at its peak i feel like the morale there was fairly relaxed
Fr the fishing in that lake was top tier

I wish someone made a working mod that restored Colter to being an active town so you could have at least one snowy town to stay at up in ambarino

Most accurate camp rating
The chapter 6 camp is amazing in my opinion. The reason why i think this is because it feels so dreadful and depressing to be in it, which fits the theme of the chapter.
Beaver Hollows camp made the gang realize eveything died.
camp 5 is symbolic at how far the Van Der Lin gang had fallen. They don't even talk to each other or play any games. Plus Dutch kept his tent closed.
Beaver Hollow is too depressing. Horshoe overlook and clemen's point on top

3rd camp: we have a lake without crocodiles
