    So India has 8 big(ish) cats - Bengal tiger, Asiatic lion, Indian leopard, snow leopard, clouded leopard, cheetah, Eurasian lynx and the caracal - which is the most in the world in addition to 10 small cats which is also more than any other country. That’s 18 cat species in a single country! The diversity of the wildlife of India is just staggering.

    • @AshaSelfsDemoFilms
      @AshaSelfsDemoFilms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
      I haven't studied ancient Greek but it probably wouldn't be difficult to find it used to mean ugly ear in certain contexts.

    • @antoniosvidakis
      @antoniosvidakis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@AshaSelfsDemoFilms Believe me, when you use the word 'kolovos" in Greek or latinized "colobus", particularly talking about animals, it always mean that it misses a part, amputated. Either a tail, a leg, an ear etc. Someone could say this could be ugly looking but saying that colobus is related with ugliness is just wrong.

      It's not like that. Actually in the wild especially in Forests and prairies - *your whisper can go for miles and be easily heard by predators are other species whom have the gift of distant earing and highly sensitive appendages on their bodies.* This (whispering in high tones) is probably the major mistake people make when out on a safari in a deep jungle or mountainous dense forest. One must adopt *perfect silence* in order to walk through such areas. Earlier back in India (prior to 16th - 17th centuries and perhaps even now in some parts), people or devotees whom had to and used to travel on foot or bullock cart across large distances involving forests or even plain lands used to keep mum due to very this reason.

      Hi..most cat species would prefer to conserve their energy for more important tasks..hence the years of evolution of most cats to sleep almost the entire day away..unless it's time to go hunting cause they're hungry..then their energy they've built up during their hours of sleeping gets "used up" mighty fast, especially if they don't catch anything to eat..so your reference to "sloth" type behavior, kind of insulting to the species..🤷‍♀️🐈‍⬛🐅🐆🐈🙂😸😿

    Among prettiest of felines, Pallas and Bob cats are the most illusive.

      Bobcats aren't illusive, plenty of them around here (US Northeast). There are more illusive felines e.g. Snow Leopard. African Golden Cat is especially illusive.
