a lot of these kittens grow up fast in size in nature... i noticed this living with a. family of domestic cats on a jungle island beach. they were still pretty small at two months but suddenly grew so fast and at six months, they looked almost adult. they ate a lot of fish and we're extremely active, climbed trees, rocks, played in the low tide lands as the sea was very shallow at low tide
@Grande Leonardo If you're serious: There is literally a picture of a sand cat in the Cincinatti zoo, Bristol zoo and unnamed captive location on the wikipedia page of sand cats, with a dedicated section about them being in captivity since the 60s... Also if you look at 0:53, the background is clearly painted and the lighting is off for many of the shots - as there's not nearly enough bounce-lights for real sunlight. (The sun is bright AF)
I worked at a small zoo and we had a sand cat! He was super soft and gentle (when he wanted to be! hated men! He was neutered and the last person he saw before anesthesia was the owner, who is a man) He had a wicked bite if you riled him to much and sharp claws (I still have my scars lol). The room was usually empty and I always let him out to play with him, he loved walking in my legs and jumping on my shoulders. Miss that cat, he went to a sister zoo before I quit (Had family troubles)
My cousin used to work at a zoo and one of the Puma's there loved him! Every time he came in, she would run over and jump up to give him a hug and a love nibble on the chin while purring. She would bight just gently enough to do no harm but firmly enough it would hurt if he tried to jerk away. My cousin always complained he was afraid his brains were going to be scrambled cause her teeth on his chin really amplified the vibrations. xD
The fact it can live and travel several miles per day without ever needing water is mind-blowing. Can you imagine if we evolved humans to not need to drink? I think that would be equally mind-blowing.
The secret really comes down to super efficient kidneys. Even domestic cats have really supercharged kidneys (and sadly the reason older cats often get kidney problems because they're so overengineered). Though with domestic cats, easy access to safe water means they don't really need full reliance on getting water from their prey. Generally kidneys work by first excreting a lot of fluid and then running it through a water recovery system that reabsorbs only the water back into the blood and with sand cats, that water recovery system before the urine is passed to the bladder is supercharged.

My cat does that, I've watched her eat a mouse whole a couple dozen times now. She goes out and hunts every morning. I leave cat food out for her but she prefers to find her own.

Wouldn't eating the food whole make the digestion slower effectively easing their hunger longer?

a lot of these kittens grow up fast in size in nature...
i noticed this living with a. family of domestic cats on a jungle island beach.
they were still pretty small at two months
but suddenly grew so fast
and at six months, they looked almost adult.
they ate a lot of fish
and we're extremely active, climbed trees, rocks, played in the low tide lands as the sea was very shallow at low tide

Why would you narrate over their "bark", would've been nice to hear what they sound like
the cameraman is probably very very far from the cat and the bark is not recorded at all.
@@User-xw5mk No, it is probably because the cats are behind a glass. It looks like they filmed this in a zoo.
Nearly all audio on these style of nature videos are added in post production. The crew is usually way too far away to record audio.
I'd like to see you record some audio from nearly over a mile away or with trap cams.
Do you have any video of it barking?
Up load the barking video in TH-cam if u have it
The cat had family troubles??
I have already unlocked this skill now am.trying to reach the level where I have a coat that keeps me cool in heat and warm in cold
Kidneys like a pair of rocks.
fruit and other things have a lot of water
he probably pisses very little too, which might suck when you need to communicate with urine
