Yeah this is definitely one of my favorite tracks its kinda annoying that its 12+ mins and there are literally 6 dead mins till the hidden track Wish they gave us Xero-Explode version with Chesters vocals it was much heavier and sounds incredible idk why they did away with it

The chorus shows Chester's original style of singing so well. When I was a kid listening to this, after having already heard Hybrid Theory, felt like this isn't Linkin Park. Little did I know that Chester actually changed the way he sings.

Highly doubt it. In this Xero songs Chester adapted to Mark previous vocals. Listen to Grey Daze, that was his style. Very strained high notes.
I mean yeah. Just listen to him when he was in Grey Daze. It’s a notable difference. I feel like his singing style in Linkin Park was his natural singing type, and what he did with Grey Daze was kind of like an accent or something. If that makes sense

This song will always be special to me. My favorite of the Pre-Hybrid Theory LP songs. It has such a spectrum of emotion. It's haunting, sad, angry, and optimistic somehow. Miss you Chester, you're part of us.

Back in my teens I used to listen to this song on repeat.. I haven't listened to this song in close to 20 years.. listening to it today hit me just as much as it did back then. I've never been able to relate to music as much as I have to Linkin Park. They were my therapy growing up and still are to this day. R.I.P Chester! You're nothing less than a hero ❤ and Mike, keep doing what you do! You're equally a hero, and thankfully you're still with us!
Everything you said really resonated with me. A friend introduced me to Linkin Park in high school and I vividly recall playing this song on repeat too. It's surreal to think that Meteora just celebrated its 20th anniversary and we've been gifted with all of these unreleased tracks and demos. The legacy of Chester and music of Linkin Park will live on forever.
100% the same. Just rediscovered the EP today (back when I listened, I had gotten it all from Napster or Limewire or others, and assumed for YEARS it was just mis-labelled other artists). Hits hard, even though I'm in a way way way happier place in my life than I was back as a teen. Wild.

I remember when I first listened to this song (I think for me, maybe 18/19 years ago), I remember it describing exactly how I felt at that time during the hell that was high school. I'd be on repeat daily... because I had finally found someone who understood how I felt. For me, during that time the song had always been about self-harm, about literally cutting yourself free from the pain inside. Which I was way too familiar with. Looking back on the lyrics now I also see how inspiring and uplifting they can be if you read them carefully. Still one of my favourite songs ever though :)

This track is proof that prime Mike can put most modern rappers in the ground.
I completely forget if this song was what eventually became Papercut and/or part of another song from a later album but this song stuck with me just as hard as when I first heard Faint for the very first time coming to know LP.
