Makes sense. Not all gold will have the same terminal velocity. Super thin platy gold will require less force to move than perfectly spherical gold for example and different riffles will capture each better than the other.

Great video Chris 📹 I'm actually working on something new to the market, for the reasons in this video. The only mats available that are multi vortex optional are gold hog due to the vary of mats combined.
But there are many downfalls to those mats depending on whats being done and where and on top they are very heavy .
Little hint on my idea in motion it combines 3 different styles of sluice box's and physical natural earth all in 1 package and its stealth ....and comparable in weight to a traditional riffle sluice

Years and years (and years) ago, we would have a separate gold pan with a copper bottom. After collecting all the black sand you'd apply a thin coating of mercury to the copper, and then run the black sand through the pan. I guess the gold would dissolve in the mercury, and then you'd scrape up the mercury and process that. BUT - in even older old days, they'd take the mercury, and put it in a hollowed out potato in the campfire. The mercury would be force into the potato flesh leaving the gold behind. A different time. BUT - I do remember being told to never touch the soil with your hands because the oils from your hands would stick to the gold and make it more likely to float out of the sluice. Has that been disproved?

I count around 138 but hard to tell by pausing the vid so your a bit over. Looks like a nice mat will you be running more tests on video? I love tests I had my friend (vendetta prospecting ((he’s a TH-cam/paydirt vendor)) so had access to more gold than me) pressure test my Alan Robertson “hobby miner sluice box” (by pressure I mean force feed it 20 lbs of unclassified rocks and black sand with an ounce of gold mixed in it😳) and check the recovery rate was amazing to watch have you ever tried to choke out a mat with black sands on purpose? Anyway really like tests looking forward to more on this mat thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
