- New Evidence Could Prove Lucy Letby’s Innocence - Experts Challenge Murder Conviction
“We did not find any murders.” These shocking words come from world-renowned neonatologist Dr. Shoo Lee, a key expert in a groundbreaking report that questions the evidence used to convict former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby.
According to an expert panel’s extensive review, the seven babies in question were not murdered but died due to natural causes or inadequate medical care.
In an exclusive report, The Telegraph’s science editor, Sarah Knapton, joins Camilla and Kamal to discuss the new findings that could overturn Letby’s conviction. They also hear from MP David Davis, who believes Letby is innocent, and explore what’s next after her appeal was denied.
Is this one of Britain’s worst miscarriages of justice? And could medical negligence at the Countess of Chester Hospital be the real cause of these infant deaths?

I've witnessed bullying from health care professionals myself.
A facial surgeon accidentally injected a clear cleansing solution into a patients canula causing them to go into cardic distress.
He tried to blame the nurse that was assisting him that day, even though we had warned him repeatedly we needed to make the syringes different from each other to prevent mix up. He also used to get mad and mock the nurses when they kept seperating the syringes from the tray to stop them getting mixed up.
Those who are in authority can make the workplace a very toxic dangerous environment.
So true.

My wife is also a nurse and has always found this to be the case. There are a lot of big ego's and spectrum behaviours in doctor/consultant community, and misogyny is also rife. The prehistoric hiarachy still thrives....
Arrogance power crazed man.

In all these miscarriage of justice trials why is it the Judges prosecutors and barristers are not held to account

Sorry to hear that. We should be careful about apportioning blame, in general (I can't comment about your case) however tempting. The system is simply under too much strain. Investment has not kept pace with the expansion of the UK's population and the aging of the population and advancements in technology and training. Too much money is controlled by too few. A more equitous society would produce a better system. I feel sorry for medical staff on the frontline of such a degraded system.
Investment can NEVER keep pace with the insane immigration [lack of policy]. Mass scale remigration is the only thing that can work as an immediate short term solution.
My mum likewise was killed by a naff surgeon, an Egyptian man, who then left the country. Kings College Hospital, Camberwell.
Doctors are dangerous. They did things like lobotomies, like thalidomide, like insulin shock therapy (look into that folks - utterly diabolical) and what about the insane over-prescribing of SSRIs, of statins, of psychiatric drugs. All these things are part of the outrageous state of 'medicine' today. It's a massive mess. I hope the RFK Jr waves will hit our shores and soon!

I’m a British person who left the UK to live in the US. In the USA they talk a big game, but it is much more frightening than the UK. I left the US to come back to the UK. I gave up the money of the American healthcare system to work for the NHS. Yes, the NHS is screwed. But not as bad as the American healthcare system. It doesn’t have anywhere near the amount of corruption, it doesn’t destroy peoples lives by putting them to debt for the rest of their lives, and it’s not as good at covering things up
Countries that use the first-past-the-post voting system are not democracies, but the UK is vulnerable to tactical voting. Unlike the USA, which denies ballot access to third parties so the USA ensures two-party dominance.

Following this case from outside the UK, I am still surprised by the radical "mood swing" of the UK public in this case. Shortly after Lucy's conviction, anyone who expressed doubt about her guilt was vociferously attacked. And now it seems generally accepted that she is actually innocent.
It's called sheep mentality and reading some of the comments here pretty low IQ Narcs who like to think they're clever by being contrary. That hospital and that ward was double the national average in infant mortality, two years before she came to work for that ward. Which nurse are they going to blame for those deaths?
On the notes Letby made she was advised to write down all her thoughts by a counsellor following the false accusations by her consultant colleagues. The same advice was given to my wife who is a nurse when she was threatened with a knife at work. Nurses are trained to critically self reflect and these notes just reflect the anguish she felt at the deaths and the accusations she was at fault. The ignorance and blindness of the police to this obvious explanation shows how out of touch with the realities of healthcare they are
Well said. And also, how keen they were to cover up what was really going on, no doubt.
Absolutely 100% correct. We are (or were when I trained back in the early 00's) taught at university to critically self reflect on our practices, both to help us improve/evidence our practice and help manage our mental health.
Yeah it always seemed to me like she was self blaming for things than admitting guilt.
That makes sense. I wondered about those notes. Thanks for this explanation ❤
Exactly my thoughts when I first saw that evidence.
Conciencious people tend to blame themselves when things go wrong and that's exactly how it reads.
There needs to be an immediate retrial to allow complete transparency of the full facts. As a parent I would need to know why my baby died, and most certainly would not want an innocent person to be imprisoned wrongly.
No, she’s absolutely guilty, look into her case. She even taunted the parents of one the babies she murdered. Babies only died around her, no one else. As an RGN myself (now retired) I have witnessed and was unfortunately too often the target of NHS bullying, backstabbing and disgusting misandry. I got out of the NHS around 1990 and went in to Industry as a practice nurse working on my own until I retired. I loved every day of it.
I strongly suspect Lucy was thrown under the bus to cover up medical malpractice. Never let a doctor take the blame when a nurse is easily available!
In one case a doctor injected a needle in to a sub capsular hepatic haematoma and presumably was surprised the poor infant died due to internal haemorrhage. Oh well lets cover it up and stitch up a nurse!
A murder conviction requires evidence 'beyond reasonable doubt' and surely now there must be deep reservations about this conviction.
I am so angry about this, yet another nurse getting the crap for poor medical care and incompetent doctors. I have been subject to it and it is utterly disgusting.
Also no coincidence, I suspect, that the doctors were foreign and she wasn't. The NHS is a very dangerous organisation.
Your experience is undoubtedly true. What may not be true is whether it applies to this case. I hope the review process will sort out whether an injustice has been done.
I have never believed she did of what she was accused of
I can relate, I used to work in mining and pharmaceutical industry and the amount of crap blamed on lab worker is apalling. Higher management will not accept responsibility even if caught red handed.
I'm a retired nurse of 42 years - this has never sat well with me iv always had doubts about her being guilty
My mother has been a nurse for over 25 years at a large teaching hospital and has been a victim of bullying for most of it. It finally stopped last year when she said she was going to the CEO. The hospital was so rife for bullying it made it into the news. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from supposed professionals.
My life was saved by a midwife who was allowed to speak into a situation she didn't feel like the drs at the hospital were dealing with correctly. I know I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for the 'angel' that was sent that day. Her name was Diana and I will never forget her. I hope that if Lucy is innocent, that she will be cleared and that this seemingly negligent hospital is brought to account for the lost lives of the babies and for Lucy's imprisonment, defamation and the trauma that all involved have been through.

We lost our 3 week old after he came home from being 3 weeks premature...hearing all this is terrifying and triggering for us, babies are the most vulnerable and the health care needs to reflect that
If Lucy is innocent it’s not her fault that the parents don’t have answers. It’s not about celebrating it’s about righting a huge injustice. Finding the reasons for the babies deaths is down to the hospital and their failures.
@@karaleetrappyou're making it a competition yourself by comparing the two. Listen to your own advice its not a competition both their situations suck.
My nursing career spanned the years 1966 - 2003. During my training years in Canada, we were required to open doors for doctors and stand up to give them our seats in the charting room. A number of doctors during those years took this to heart and were very verbally abusive to nurses. I spent a year at St. Thomas Hospital ICU in London in 1970-71, and found all the doctors at that time to be very respectful team members from whom I learned a lot. Very different from my previous experience, which included having a spinal needle thrown down at me, lodging in the top of my shoe. (This, for having handed the surgeon a size he did not like…. ) I still remember the feeling of the tip of that needle scratching on the top of my foot throughout the whole surgical procedure…. but be that as it may, and having witnessed relationships between physicians and nurses improve over the years, I do agree that power dynamics make it very easy to blame the nurse!
When my baby son was released from NHS hospital Worcester. Without establishing a latch or being able to feed. I contacted the hospital to express my concerns. They disregarded my concerns and said everything was fine and reported me to social services. 5 days later, we managed to get an appointment for a tongue tie cut at Kidderminster Hospital. The feeding specialist there said my son had worst-case tongue tie and could not feed. She snipped his tongue and implemented a 2 hours feeding plan. My son is now healthy and thriving. Despite the care he received at Worcester hospital. I won't be surprised if Worcester hospital is the next hospital revealed as failing patients and killing people! Watch this space.....
IT's horrifying how they can do that and make people feel crazy and stupid for following your gut etc..
Long story short she probably was scapegoated to cover for the terribly inadequate conditions of the clinic. Well allegedly, allegedly. Something like the Fujitsu scandal?
yes
I think we all saw through the NHS circus - the system is absolutely corrupt and broken
Plus don't forget Breary started a ,"drawer of doom" on Lucy to let her be blamed.
Yes , I think the Doctors at the clinic at that time might be suffering from anxiety and panic attacks now. Evidence is all about whats Presented and left out
she looks guilty to me
This case was always about protecting the Dr’s and the hospital from the very start. I truly hope Lucy gets the full and unconditional pardon she deserves.
Will never happen. Her convictions may get downgraded after a big investigation into the NHS. She is guilty and that will never change
The BBC and MSM in general threw Lucy under the bus from the start. They are guilty of creating this mess with continuous outrageous reporting. Lucy should be paid at the minimum £100 million in damages as she will never be able to do the job she loved as tens of thousands will always believe she is guilty. It makes my piss boil about how the media treated this poor Woman. The way the media found her guilty even whilst the trial was running is unfathomable.
The legacy media is dead. No one believes their woke arses anymore. If Lucy has suffered a miscarriage of justice this repugnant the legacy media had a hand in it. They had already tried and convicted her for months to create a sensational story for viewership ($). They should all be sued for defamation.
100% agreed.
@@blue1984the British media’s motto is “if it bleeds, it leads.” So if it will hurt and play at people’s emotions they’ll use whatever words they can perpetuate the situation to their advantage of more coverage.. without any consequences of the damage they do.
Perhaps they're guilty of contempt of court
A lot of evidence still now supports something not right with Letby that’s does need investigating further
If she is not guilty……. Who and how is gonna repair the damage made to her life….??????
book deals and movies lol only way she will survive $
she is guilty, just because someone makes a big shitstirr doesnt change facts.
Not a big shitstir, experts at the top of their profession putting their careers on the line to give evidence in her defence.
Well, thank goodness Dr Shoo Lee got involved with this case.
So they have jailed an innocent woman, says everything about the nhs and the legal system in England
I lost my job as a midwife due to seniors making mistakes and passing the blame on to me. I was too scared at the time to tell anyone the truth, but I also didn’t think it would go as far as me losing my job. Disgraceful.
We're still free..unlike America who kill their patients and the families STILL have to pay their bills after they die.
Lol she is guilty. The lawyers are just going after bigger fish and bigger payouts
Same with Canada
Yes. When innocent men are jailed nobody says a word to defend them. The case must be reopened and then we can judge.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and their babies. I hope for truth and justice for ALL 🙏🏽
If even half of this is true, she had a really poor defence team.
They were terrible! No character witnesses? No expert witnesses?
From my understanding, it was just literally just her and a plumber.
@@sbeast64😂😂😂😂..@plumber....tbh i just started following this 2 days ago and i thought hang on..things are not adding up, but then also thought of the notes found in her house etc.
Im not saying she is guilty but it seems she's not had a fair hearing and the evidences presented against her were quite skewed in the direction of ensuring she was found guilty without seeking to balance that view with other expert evidence!
People often believe other professionals, it’s very hard to bring a nhs leviathan to book, and since she’s had medically prepared defence team and David Davies this has happened.
Probably not used by the Defence because cool stories play well in the media and not so well in the courtroom.
As someone who was originally completely disgusted by her I have been looking into these claims lately of her defense and it's genuinely concerning what could have happened here.
Has happened
Go back and watch all the “Lucy Letby baby killer” documentaries now. It’s amazing how people are so confident she’s an evil killer, psychologists explaining why she kept “trophies” of her kills such as condolence cards etc… Her preferred methods of murder etc… It’s amazing how confident people get about how they “knew” she was a bad egg all along etc…
Can't argue with the facts though
She's guilty as sin.
The conviction is supposed to be ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ which it clearly isn’t. I don’t know if she’s innocent or not but it seems like she hasn’t had a fair trial
it is beyond reasonable doubt, only public evidence is being used in the inquiry. there is a reason the Letby defense refused to bring experts in during the trial, because it would have only damned her further looking at the full picture.
That is reason for a retrial, not for her to be released.
@simontemplar404 they wont retrial, the courts have already said the inquiry cant change the her sentence. as in there is nothing they can find without all of the evidence that would result in a different outcome.
We'll see the outcome of this, but "experts" don't decide the outcome of trials. They certainly weren't in the maternity unit
Yes, "beyond all reasonable doubt" is the highest level of evidential guilt required in the UK criminal justice system. I am not jumping on any bandwagons because I have said this for some time....this conviction does not meet that criteria. I'm not saying LL isn't guilty, but this warrants a retrial.
Poor Lucy is still stuck in jail. I hope this case is dealt with quickly as she has suffered enough.
They do not take kindly to baby killers in Prison either!!
he didn't say she might be innocent. he said there was no crime.
And if there is no crime she can't be guilty.
He said there was no crime, even though he had no access to any of the evidence…….she killed those babies
@@risred4344 He had access to all of Leyby's defence documents so all of the babies medical records.
The press had better be held accountable for photo-shopping the diary to make it look as if it was an admission when it wasn't! The prosecution too!
my mum was bullied out of nursing, and her experience made me stop pursuing it as a career path. my therapist was formerly a nurse and I've seen how rude medical professionals have been to her (and me trying to get help). nursing, and medicine in general has become a haven for terrible people who push people who actually care out of the job.

Sadly most of them are doctors themselves and managers, all cashing fat pay cheques every month and thinking they deserve it
Surgery and medicine attracts narcissists and psychopathic people who enjoy playing God
There is no need for a re-trial as the expert panel has concluded there were no crimes. What is LL going to be tried for? Working 60 hr weeks?
lol your experts are garbage. There is no need for a re-trial as the b1tch is guilty as hell.
Murder she murdered the babies and are looking to charge her for more, she is guilty
In an understaffed, filthy neonatal unit with human sewage in the washbasins and bacteria on the taps?

@@MarkReynolds-g9b prosecution also used expert panel. A expert panel said OJ Simpson was innocent even though he clearly wasn’t. What I will say about Lucy whether guilty or not is there are some serious questions to be asked around the number of deaths which increased drastically on her shift, was she just poor at responding to the natural deaths Dr Lee described?
Thank goodness for those like David Davis who are willing to take on the establishment in search of the truth.
This country is rotten from the core when organisations would happily put innocent people in jail to save their jobs. First Post office, now this. It is utterly disgusting.
💯%
If this was their medical diagnosis ...imagine what else goes on?????
My Gran was given the wrong medicine and had a stroke, one of the nurses came into my Aunties shop on the same day just by pure chance and started gossiping about it, got totally covered up.
No worries. The legal establishment will just dig their heels in. They can't stand being proved wrong.
Or the bullies in the NHS

Gaslighting big time !
She also wrote that she did.

Here's to Lucy. May she find freedom and love. God bless her loyal parents and cats! Prayers from Chile.
I’m a nurse and this is a worry. I hope justice is done and the real truth comes out. A doctor years ago tried to do something dangerous to a patient in my care and I stood up for the patient and my senior colleagues backed me up too. This doctor scared me as she was a registrar and ought to have know better. If I’d hadn’t have been confident enough in my own practice then I might have agreed with the doctor but I refused to do what they asked as I knew it was wrong and against hospital policy. It is too scary that this happens and nurses quite often are easy targets. Not saying things don’t happen of course. But it’s all too easy for people to sadly be thrown under the bus. 😰
Now who's going to answer for her injustice. Let's start with the doctor who was so vocal about her. He certainly needs to lose his job and be jailed
YES!! He should not be getting away with this...
I’ve always believed Lucy was just a scapegoat. I mean look at the state of our justice system. Thank goodness for all those who delved deeper to seek justice for Lucy and to bring the actual truth to all the poor families affected 🙏🏻💔
there was a case of a baby in nottingham killed by too much saline drip
She confessed but now I knew she was innocent from the masses

I’m an ex nurse and midwife. We always knew that when ever there was an investigation the doctors would club together and sell us down the river.
The fact they downgraded the hospital back then and never went back up to the level it was and yet they try and say the deaths stopped because Lucy wasn't there. She was also a young woman who was one of the most experienced, which again was crazy at her age. Two rounds a week by the doctors as well despite all those deaths. No wonder the doctors needed a scapegoat. How they sleep at night I'll never know.
she did'nt protest her innocence because she knew it was a waste of time what good would it have done??????????everyone had already made there mind up that she was a killer..................
It would have wasted her energy
Don’t be so dense , she didn’t protest because she knew she’d get caught eventually she’s guilty
@@JamesBeattie-lz9cc She may well be guilty, but there certainly doesn't seem to be any *evidence* that's she's guilty. Take a look at the "evidence" used against her - it's either circumstantial or now shown to be misleading (at best).
@@JamesBeattie-lz9cc ?
She pleaded not guilty
Chronic underfunding and poor clinical management by the doctors. Lucy is reported by other nurses to have been a very good nurse working with a poor medical team. We’ve now seen how poor! Free Lucy now!
If she is innocent, I’m sure this experience will have damaged her immeasurably. In theory she could opt for a Return to Practice course and re-enter the nursing register. If it were me I would not go near a patient again!
She was already damaged by the time it git to court, she had been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression and had been put on meds. God knows her mental state now after years of imprisonment with no hope. Thank god the truth is finally coming out
Wasn’t it said that she befriended the girlfriend of the man who abused and
Murdered his daughter? Im not sure how this has happened if she is innocent she should be set free however this makes zero sense
What person would let her take care of their baby even if this is reversed. They have utterly destroyed her career and her future. It’s impossible for her to return to this profession. Horrible but 100% true.
My grandfather was overdose with morphine by the NHS, he went from having 6 months to a year to live to having 3-4 days. Don't be fooled by the organisations lovey dovey surface, patient neglect is real and they will throw staff under the bus if needed. I worked in the NHS for 4 years, during the pandemic. One minute they clapped for us and told us how great we were, next minute they threatened to sack us if we didn't take their jab. I'm glad I didn't take it and I left.
Absolutely..people are deeply naive believing they are a ‘caring organisation. Its riddled with Narcissistic egomaniacal bullies who have zero empathy for human life.
I'm beginning to have serious questions and doubts about this. Look what happened to the recent poor guy who spent almost 30 years over a miscarriage of justice!! This is very disturbing indeed!
Miscarriage of justice very very rarely means someone is innocent when acquitted. Just means the case against them was not sound enough or mistakes were made during the justice process
This now looks like a total miscarriage of justice 🤔🤔🤔
Yet another reason why people need to slow down when this stuff happens, justice needs time and everyone is innocent until proven guilty. But in the court of public opinion this lady was immediately judged as guilty.
I agree. The media jump on these types of stories as soon as they happen, then trash suspects & from a narrative that totally sways the public into believing or thinking in the same way. Media & journalists need to stop because it's destroying people's lives.
Yes, everyone wants to be the judge, with no knowledge, understanding or evidence. They just want a villain for sensationalist theories
The mainstream media need to take some responsibility as they the one that feed the public the headlines and what they report from inside the court, they condemned her
Similar to the Lindy Chamberlain case.
There are more experts saying she didn't murder anyone than there were who said she did
This is why I never jump on the media bandwagon when big stories break, I allways let stories simmer a bit so that the truth can be unveiled. I spare my wmotions for my personal life and my passions, towards the world I am stoic.
If she was wrongly convicted the jury has responsibility too. They should be critical of what they are being shown to decide upon.
Jury's are corrupt and they don't care what they do. I hate it that my partner has been found guilty of a crime he dod not commit butca jury found him guilty (anonymously) Complete miscarriage of justice but no one wants to listen.
The jury are not at fault.
Their job is solely to look at the evidence presented and make a judgement based on that.
The fault lies solely at the feet of the prosecution and defence.
The Dr's of that hospital need to be held accountable and thrown in jail
A few years ago my friend who was a qualified medical doctor working in a maternity unit said that with the state of the NHS at that point, there was going to be an event in which babies would die and someone would be held responsible.
Hopefully people will learn to accept that sometimes, unfortunately, babies are in such a poor state of health that sadly nothing can be done, and blaming the staff is not always appropriate or even a mark of justice.
Forgiveness for mistakes and acceptance of natural processes

Consulant Alison Timmis wrote an email to Tony Chambers in December 2015 saying the unit was in chaos and if it continued there would be deaths.
