  • New Evidence Could Prove Lucy Letby’s Innocence - Experts Challenge Murder Conviction
“We did not find any murders.” These shocking words come from world-renowned neonatologist Dr. Shoo Lee, a key expert in a groundbreaking report that questions the evidence used to convict former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby.
According to an expert panel’s extensive review, the seven babies in question were not murdered but died due to natural causes or inadequate medical care.
In an exclusive report, The Telegraph’s science editor, Sarah Knapton, joins Camilla and Kamal to discuss the new findings that could overturn Letby’s conviction. They also hear from MP David Davis, who believes Letby is innocent, and explore what’s next after her appeal was denied.
Is this one of Britain’s worst miscarriages of justice? And could medical negligence at the Countess of Chester Hospital be the real cause of these infant deaths?

I've witnessed bullying from health care professionals myself.
A facial surgeon accidentally injected a clear cleansing solution into a patients canula causing them to go into cardic distress.
He tried to blame the nurse that was assisting him that day, even though we had warned him repeatedly we needed to make the syringes different from each other to prevent mix up. He also used to get mad and mock the nurses when they kept seperating the syringes from the tray to stop them getting mixed up.
Those who are in authority can make the workplace a very toxic dangerous environment.

Investment has not kept pace with the expansion of the UK's population and the aging of the population and advancements in technology and training. Too much money is controlled by too few. I strongly suspect Lucy was thrown under the bus to cover up medical malpractice. Never let a doctor take the blame when a nurse is easily available!
In one case a doctor injected a needle in to a sub capsular hepatic haematoma and presumably was surprised the poor infant died due to internal haemorrhage. Oh well lets cover it up and stitch up a nurse!
A murder conviction requires evidence 'beyond reasonable doubt' and surely now there must be deep reservations about this conviction.

My life was saved by a midwife who was allowed to speak into a situation she didn't feel like the drs at the hospital were dealing with correctly. I know I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for the 'angel' that was sent that day. Her name was Diana and I will never forget her. I hope that if Lucy is innocent, that she will be cleared and that this seemingly negligent hospital is brought to account for the lost lives of the babies and for Lucy's imprisonment, defamation and the trauma that all involved have been through.

Neonates are so susceptible to infection and the care for these babies have to be of the highest standard of care and still neonates die. That unit was a disaster happening and no one was acting responsible. Just passing blame, because of total failure to accept that the unit was a danger. My nursing career spanned the years 1966 - 2003. During my training years in Canada, we were required to open doors for doctors and stand up to give them our seats in the charting room. A number of doctors during those years took this to heart and were very verbally abusive to nurses. I spent a year at St. Thomas Hospital ICU in London in 1970-71, and found all the doctors at that time to be very respectful team members from whom I learned a lot. Very different from my previous experience, which included having a spinal needle thrown down at me, lodging in the top of my shoe. (This, for having handed the surgeon a size he did not like…. ) I still remember the feeling of the tip of that needle scratching on the top of my foot throughout the whole surgical procedure…. but be that as it may, and having witnessed relationships between physicians and nurses improve over the years, I do agree that power dynamics make it very easy to blame the nurse!

They disregarded my concerns and said everything was fine and reported me to social services. 5 days later, we managed to get an appointment for a tongue tie cut at Kidderminster Hospital. The feeding specialist there said my son had worst-case tongue tie and could not feed. She snipped his tongue and implemented a 2 hours feeding plan. My son is now healthy and thriving. Despite the care he received at Worcester hospital. I won't be surprised if Worcester hospital is the next hospital revealed as failing patients and killing people! Watch this space.....

Chronic underfunding and poor clinical management by the doctors. Lucy is reported by other nurses to have been a very good nurse working with a poor medical team. We’ve now seen how poor! Free Lucy now!

My grandfather was overdose with morphine by the NHS, he went from having 6 months to a year to live to having 3-4 days. Don't be fooled by the organisations lovey dovey surface, patient neglect is real and they will throw staff under the bus if needed. I worked in the NHS for 4 years, during the pandemic. One minute they clapped for us and told us how great we were, next minute they threatened to sack us if we didn't take their jab. I'm glad I didn't take it and I left.

Miscarriage of justice very very rarely means someone is innocent when acquitted. Just means the case against them was not sound enough or mistakes were made during the justice process

Yet another reason why people need to slow down when this stuff happens, justice needs time and everyone is innocent until proven guilty. But in the court of public opinion this lady was immediately judged as guilty.

The jury are not at fault.
Their job is solely to look at the evidence presented and make a judgement based on that.
The fault lies solely at the feet of the prosecution and defence.

A few years ago my friend who was a qualified medical doctor working in a maternity unit said that with the state of the NHS at that point, there was going to be an event in which babies would die and someone would be held responsible.
Hopefully people will learn to accept that sometimes, unfortunately, babies are in such a poor state of health that sadly nothing can be done, and blaming the staff is not always appropriate or even a mark of justice.
