    I dont think of "ride" as a sexual meaning, but as just going with the flow of things that were happening in her life, because she's tired of trying and all the issues inside her head (i got a war in my mind). So just driving around and "riding" is a way to not think about the responsabilities and dark part of the things she was going through at the time. I see it both as just accepting the flow things are going (even though they are bad) and escapism

      @@mendwithmere I believe that your reaction is more on point if you include the imagery in the video. However, the poems in the video give it another plausible meaning, closer to what the original commentator put forth.

      @andreaharthorn4327 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I totally agree that "I just ride" is much more about escapism than just a slang reference to sex. Especially within the context of the official video. The easiest way for her to deal with life is to just go with the flow and be down for anything (including drinking, sex, and actual car/bike rides). You never really have to make a hard decision if you're only following what other people want.

Just so you dont get burned out by the end of the album but if you did it all in one long video I'd be more than happy to watch 💕

    I LOVE that you brought up Carl Jung. I would love to see more interpretations of her songs from that perspective. She has said that she's a huge fan of Carl Jung and his theories, so she might even be intentionally writing from the perspective of different archetypes. I think she did something similar with the song Get Free. S he said it's a song that's structured lyrically like the Hero's Journey (Joseph Campbell). I would LOVE for you to react to it as well. It's also connected to Ride because there's a lyric "sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind I wanna get off, but I keep riding the ride" which to me, is clearly about wanting to commit suicide but deciding to just go ahead and "ride" on the road that life takes you on. She uses "road" as a metaphor for life in Born to Die.

    Just noticed watching this that in this song she says “I’m tired of driving until I see stars in my eyes” and then in Sweet she says “I have stars in my eyes and magic in my hands.” So I definitely think it’s like… about trying to make it in the industry, whereas in Sweet she’s already made it. But then also the feeling of being alone. Here she’s driving, and in Sweet she’s alone in the mountains. And Sweet also deals with fame, when she says “I’m a different kind of woman.” Like…wowwww the levels

    lana writes a lot of her music in the car, and she spends a lot of time driving around to clear her head of the racing thoughts she has. the "one pretty song"
    is probably referring to "Yayo," another song on the Paradise EP. most of the videos you can find of her early performances are of that song, and "Ride" seems to be the pre-fame perspective of frustration with only having all her efforts culminate in one song (which didn't even appear on her debut album). she was also dating a music industry executive before her debut album, but he never helped with any of the deals she got, to her disappointment. she discusses it in a bit of an ironic, self-aware way in "I Fucked My Way Up to the Top" from Ultraviolence and in some interviews.

    Ride.... Or die, its as simple as that, i chose riding, even with war in my mind, feeling fckng crazy, making art, just go with the flow and becoming euphrical in the end, with stars, being finally sane... Lana is bipolar, maniacally writes music and poems, loves with all her mind, heart and body, suffering, she tries to balance her life, moods, career, shes absolutely brilliant genius, empathy queen, goddess, our therapist😇🥰😍🥰

    Please watch the music video!!! It has such a poetic but relatable intro and outro and the cinematic imegery is insane
