I've got a little over 2 years clean right now, and I can honestly say I couldn't have made it without my peer recovery coach that I got assigned after a visit to the ER. You're doing something amazing out here man, I'm sure you've saved more lives that you'll ever realize.

Mine was bad judgment and hypersensitive aggressive responses to situations. I've learned so very much since I went up January 5, 2005. Hey! Glad you asked here! It’s hard for me to see all my notifications over there 😂 Scientifically speaking, substance use disorder is a Trauma-based mental disorder. A lot of it is about how our neural pathways are routed to the limbic system, which is the reward system in the brain. It’s what gives us good feelings. It’s true that we will always be susceptible to having triggers, but the more that we learned to get those chemical rewards in our brains from things that aren’t substances, the easier it is to mitigate those! Basically, practice makes perfect. Every time you go through a trigger and you beat it, you get stronger. Every time that you have heavy feelings and you work that out in a positive way instead of using, you’re training your brain that that’s how you do it. So yes, we will always have those obstacles, but we don’t always have to be an addict! 🖤🤘🏻

When I did my short term that I caught all I did was work out and since I was a veteran the older convicts accepted me more since I moved like they did and programed like they did. Aside of that I just did my own program and expanded my art skills and knowledge. L&R for everything your doing to better yourself brother!
