Also tell them how you magically didn't go to prison on a drug charge a few years ago as a "career criminal" or tell them how your friends with a child abuser and women beater yet you say you against all that go ahead JD tell the people some truth

I agree totally I really like the guy and what he does, the positive changes he's made and helped others make, but I'd love to hear him just talk chill like this regularly, I get that he's passionate about his stuff and gets amped up, but I can relate much more to this tone and demeanor. not knocking him at all, glad he's successful and doing well in life now. I'm a recovering addict myself, did lots of dirt and did time but got sober over 15 years ago and just live a simple quiet life now, work hard and am focused on my family taking care of them and doing right.🙏🏼

The first day it's not your #1 priority is the first day of your road to relapse. JD is the real deal. I've been watching him for a long time. Living on the tip top of Appalachian Mountains it can be 25-30 miles to the nearest NA meeting if you can find one.

I was abused from age 7 until 10. And never told anyone until I was in my 20s. Same thing ... I acted out and was labeled as the bad influence and my parents put me on medication to calm me down. I didn't know what was wrong with me and started smoking and drinking at 13. My first son was born when I was 15 and the second at 16. Both of whom my parents had adopted out. When I finally went to counseling I remember the therapist asking why I didn't see any red flags when I was being abused. I was so angry! I explained that this was my experience, and I knew nothing else. Nobody warned me as a 7 year old of the dangers of pedophiles, plus all 3 times it was someone I trusted so by the 3rd time I thought it was just par for the course and it happened to all young boys. I am sorry this happened to you as well! Abuse in any form is not something a young child should ever endure! I'm 70 and gave up sex, drugs and rock and roll at age 28 because I was afraid of losing my two girls. Incentive. It was either change or drown myself in the river. Glad I stuck around. So about age 60 I started smoking pot for pain. I haven't touched any hard drugs because I am scared shitless of them. That fear is good. You are a living example of a little saying I learned at a recovery program... Make your mess your message. You're doing a good thing for your clients and yourself. I hope you come back again.

Wandered away from this channel a couple of years ago. There were so many people who were on a death spiral and would lie about wanting help and just double down. I had had too many liars in my life to watch more. Found myself addicted to jd's TH-cam shorts and heard he'd done an interview with Mark. Here I am again. My issues were buried and gone over thirty years ago. My exit involved treating my mental illness, sobriety just came along with that. I now have a nephew on the same rough road I was on. These stories don't get old for me because they pop up every generation in my family. Thank you Mark for finding the light in the darkness. Thanks jd delay for being funny as hell on your channel about stuff most people can't laugh about. This was a wonderful interview. I've been following JD for quite a while now, & knew his story, but not in as much detail. He had quite an effect on a dear friend of mine- so much so, that my friend was encouraged by JD to become a recovery coach/peer counselor. When he was going to classes, he reached out to JD, & JD was really cool to him, offering advice & ideas, & told him he could reach out anytime he needed help or had questions. That's when I checked out JD for myself. Yeah, he's loud. But it's because he's passionate about what he's doing. Plus he can throw some humor into very dark subject matter, without diminishing the pain those subjects can cause because he's been through being victimized himself. I'm a proud member of his "wood-chipper family".

I never talked about it, either.
Took a long damn time to even approach that storm in my head.
That Tom Waits song, The long way home, always hit me right where it hurt. “Got a head full of lighting, a hat full of rain”.
Finally opened up to my wife a few years ago about the whole situation.
Misspent my youth getting into fights and on the wrong side of the law. Put that behind me by 26. Met my wife nine years ago. We’ve got three beautiful children. Two boys and one girl. Just turned 40, we own our home and vehicles.
Had the same feelings about it as you did, JD. Struggled with what it meant. How to deal with it. How to move passed it.
Never really goes away. Made peace with it, but it never goes away.
Made damn sure that my children will not go through that under my watch. Will not allow the school system to essentially mentally do to them what physically happened to me. We home school. No perverted and degenerate outside influences.
The wife and I are focusing all of our attention on the kids now. My daughter has scoliosis, so it’s mostly trips to the children’s hospital two hours away trying to get that fixed.
I say all of this to point out, there can be a decent chance to turn things around after going through abuse in your youth, getting on the wrong side of the law and generally making dumb decisions.
Experience is something we desperately need, but only get after the fact. Some are born into way better situations, end up hitting rock bottom and begin to dig. Others start essentially at rock bottom the moment they first draw breath out of the womb. Then end up giving their children a childhood drastically different than theirs.
Having a relationship with Jesus Christ helps immensely. It did for me.
