Wow, 2 wins out of 3 tournaments is an impressive result, especially considering you have faced many previous tournament veterans. Congrats to ARMCO! It was extra intense seeing you face off against the team who beat you last week. The blue EMP Grims play in the final could be the most epic tactical moment seen in this year's tournaments so far! This test tournament has definitely produced some useful and important data. In many ways, it acted as a good benchmark for finding the limits of Space Engineers and WeaponCore. We want to ensure that the first "grand" tournament does not have any performance issues as this test one did unfortunately BUT it was still an incredible amount of fun. It went far better than I expected!

You dancing on the deck with explosions all over you as you drifted into the distance was the peak of entertainment with this amazing Sport. Yes I dare call this a sport because that's exactly how it was played and it's exactly how it was handled. I want more
I fought for TLC in the King of the hill match this time and I've got to say, it was great! The point limit was a little overwhelming since I already built my ship before they increased it, so I ended up not knowing what to put on my ship. But I think they'll decrease the Point limit in the next Test Tournament. Over all I hope to get in the tournaments again one day, its loads of fun.
I actually find giving teams a lower point count created more interesting designs. These designs are much more spammy. Edit: Oh yay Shack said the exact same thing!
Though honestly, I would just have reactors cost points because thrusters use power and weapons use power and that can be a good limiting factor for ships.
I revel in this chaos. It’s a grand spectacle. They should have different classes of tournaments. Various degrees of limited tournaments, and an unlimited tournament.
I watch space engineers content occasionally, I didn’t even know these existed, but it’s exactly what you can imagine using these ships for. I love it.
I like how the title only places emphasis on "space," and not "space engineers." It's like he isn't surprised that this is combat in the game space engineers, but he absolutely fucking astounded by the idea that this happens in _s p a c e._
tournaments really fit space engineers since it has basically infinite creative possibilities which you can put to practical use in such a setting. it emphasises both personal and team knowledge and skill in both building and flying.
These edited match breakdowns are amazing, Shack. I seriously feel like I'm watching a football Post-game show. :) Also, bring on the Orkky footage. Those earlier matches seemed just as interesting as the last one, and I'd love to see what strategy lead to the win.
I love this community-Gamemode and the videos. I am back in with SE now. Thank you and your videos. I will follow this until it official release (after the test turnaments)
One thing that would make these a lot easier to watch would be some kind of graphic overlay showing the status of each ship (even just alive/dead), it's hard to remember who's who
Let’s go more space engineers and I was just watching a vid and instantly pressed it man thexpgamer has been my top favorite youtuber since I was young and now I am still watching you
That Pyramid ship is pretty much the sort of design I've always said makes the most sense. Increase surface area for forwards firing weapons with the smallest cross-section possible. Engines in the back. I've yet to see how they use it but I'd advocate orbiting at optimal weapons range.
i love this type of eddit, pls keep doing them :D - also id love to see reviews on your build taktics to learn what does and does not work in terms of building an effective fighting ship
haha, the 'bait them to edge of the arena' makes me nostalgic. Used to play EvE online, which had an alliance tournament which I competed in, so many matches decided by people flying through the arena boundary. inertia is a cruel mistress.
For those still watching this video, Starcore is still very much a thing and has improved SIGNIFICANTLY since this footage. We welcome all that would enjoy Space Engineers in a competitive scene or even relaxed meme builds without the grind of survival attached.
It may not work, however one could add a low poly "cable" to detach pods. These cables can be invulnerable to ballistic weapons, but vulnerable to energy/beam/ion weapons. To lead by example, the original Mobile Suit Gundam Zeong had cables connected to the hands to allow limited range, but non ai maneuverability from the pilot/gunner. Just a thought.
If they switch back to a smaller pool of points, i hope you'll consider a carrier build, a single ship that launches pre-mounted remote fighters. Maybe not super viable against larger shield ships, but it would be interesting none the less.
Now, I don't know if they've been tweaked in the tournament pack, But the Northwind artillery guns (100mm and 203mm) can field Flak ammo that is proximity-detonating and might be very effective against missile swarms.
The game design focuses on survival/sandbox/decor, with combat/multiplayer/stability being much later additions. Very poor recipe for esports. I suspect that Starbase would do much better (when it's finally stable and released) due to having much more interesting engineering considerations and being much more stable at high player counts. Still immensely enjoy the series, of course, it's just that if a better option existed everyone (shack included) would jump on it.
Hey, was just wondering if you could do a ship tutorial of how to get a ship ready for these battles. From loading mods to first block placement to setting up ship settings.
At the begining I was thinking about how cool it would be if there were some ISD's (Imperial Star Destroyers) there and shortly after, the predecessors to the ISD shows up, The Venator Class Star Destroyer. XD
I do think the extreme 1x1 pass trough damage is what made the MAC. It was great for deleting shields and could pinpoint internal systems, but with the added area of effect it just seems overpowered.

Having one weapon cost half your point allocation is too much though, especially now that thrusters cost points.
