    One word STUNNING gosh Sala should be paying you for the beautiful cinematic quality review you have given them! I've never been a fan of resorts split between two sides and agree you need to be careful when booking to ensure your room is the one you want. I've not gone as far as a spreadsheet but l sure do invest alot of time in selecting a resort or hotel especially if it's for a long period but yes l end up knowing more about the property than one probably needs to. Thankyou for sharing and we'll deserved score👍

    I stayed here for 10 nights based on your recommendation and checked out yesterday. The resort was quite impressive, and I'm happy I splurged on the oceanfront pool suite (on the 2nd floor of the main building). The pool was great, the room was very clean and had everything I needed. The only thing I didn't like about the room was the bathtub, I just don't like the open design, for couples and solo travelers it may be fine, for families - not so much. But it's really a minor thing, I didn't mind it that much.
    The beach was quite nice, however, sometimes there was something falling from the trees every 5-10 minutes, so you never know if it'll hit your head! The view was amazing and there were enough sunbeds at all times.
    The one big negative thing about this resort was definitely the service. You mentioned it being slow and not very proactive, and yes, it was *very* slow and not proactive *at all*. Sometimes I even had to scream "excuse me" to get their attention and they still ignored it! Wait times for breakfast were also very long, averaging 25-30 minutes. Same with the bar, you sit down...and nothing happens. Gotta go to the bar and maybe they'll bring you your drinks in 10-15 minutes. But hey, that sweet 10% service charge isn't going anywhere, right?
    Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The resort is well designed, the food was nice, especially given it's an island, and the views were so beautiful. The pool in the room gets an 11/10. If they improve their service, it would be a near-perfect resort!

    Never heard of a hotel asking what products or coffee you prefer. Outstanding. They get a huge return for a small bit of extra effort.

      The company I work for does hospitality tech and we're keen to let clients know that this capability exists, and if they keep the info stored as part of a loyalty programme, it'll only encourage people to keep coming back. As you say - huge return for tiny effort.

      Yup, at the restaurants I previously owned we would keep every smidgen of data/habits/preferences on all of our regular delivery customers in order to serve them better.
      Blows my mind how more restaurants- and especially hotels- don’t do the same.

    Nice video! 👌🏼 Did you hear any noise from the upstairs room?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No noise inside the room- only when outside by the private pool you can hear guests if they are outside. I believe the rooms above have a small balcony in the rear of the room (or something similar)- but they can’t see any part of the pool below. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

      @@tfft thank you! I always stay in upstairs rooms because can't stand the footsteps and other noises :D but here in Sala Chaweng I don't like the upstairs rooms because the whole balcony is a pool :) So I'm considering a ground floor room which you stayed in.

      That property has always seemed to be very overpriced which is why I haven't gone yet- if they come back down to earth, I'll be happy to try it out :)

    • @GuyB790
      @GuyB790 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tfftYes they've become extremely overpriced, now banking 15k BHT/night. Planning far enough and you can snag a deal for 7k / night, which is okay. They're really good though and I wish you'd review them!

    Are your scores relative to other hotels in Koh Samui or globally? Also how does your weighting work?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      All scores are heavily relative to the price paid, taking the location and average prices there into account. The scores are therefore also relative to what I would consider to be the reasonable expectation of the average holiday-maker based on how the hotel positions and "sells" itself. Beyond what I just mentioned, I'm not sure what your weighting question is, though. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    I hate surat thani so much, there was only one hotel near the train station and it was so bad that I chose to sleep at the train station. Other then that Thailand is beautiful and koh samui is beautiful too.

    If this hotel resort could speak, this one would be screaming: 'Run Away'
    Don't be fooled by the relative photos that you see, this so called 'hotel' is in fact some sort of large scale psychological experiment about human suffering and gullibility.
    First of all the bedroom I stayed in was filthy, with stained carpets, some woman long hairs and dirty linens . It was evident that the housekeeping staff had not properly cleaned before my arrival. I cannot convey strongly enough how disgusting this place is blood stained headboards that have clearly been up since the world war (the first one), windows that won’t close and actual mosquitos stains in the kettle. Im pretty sure I’m going to end up with some sort of rash/disease due to sanitation conditions similar to those of a homeless crack head.
    The front beach was dirty, there were many leafs in the sand and cigarets butts.
    I dared to ask for a drink while i was at bar right one minute (one) after the shift finished and wow, the waitress over charged me for that. She was rude and quite clearly looking for a fight with customer who are spending a lot of money.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well surely if it was that bad and could speak, it would say "stay here!" haha. Sorry for your poor experience, but it's surprising to hear things may have changed.
