Really awesome recipe... tried it a couple of times last year based on the video of @Noskos BBQ. All visitors, kids and adults loved it! th-cam.com/video/1QtXTu-ez3k/w-d-xo.html Love both YT channels by the way!
Never seen them in France. But in the days there was a camping with a dutch owner and he sold frikandellen and croquetten al the kids were happy. And when the kids are happy mom and are very happy and could eat french food!
Frikandelle are also a big thing in Belgium and the northern part of France. In the northern part of France, we have a proverb which says : "Everyone knows what's in a Frikandelle, but no one will say what"
Great. Now I'm craving for Matjes, Frikandellen, Vleeskrokets, Kaassouffles, Bamiskifjes, Kipcorn, Pommes Oorlog... And I'm not even dutch! I'm german!
We eat them everywhere in Belgium ( even in the French speaking parts ), my favourite is mitraillette/routier, half a baguette with frites (chips), frikadellen, and a lot of sauce

We don't really have frikandellen in the US, but as a Belgian living here, I have learned to make my own, and it's about damn near going to the frituur!
Was lekker. Klinkt wel leuk in het Engels, die "Frikandellen". Zal sowieso ook in het Frans op de verpakking staan omdat België nu eenmaal ook Franstalig is.
You guys are great, I love the Dutch! As a British soldier based in Germany i used to love my excursions to Nederland. Roermond, Eindhoven, Venlo, Enschade. What great days😀. I loved the dutch vending machines in the towns that had crispy pancakes, croquettes and frikies😋 oh and schwarma!✊🏼😉

The Pasquale Sciarappa cameo trying to say Worcestershire sauce was an automatic like. Also, I live 18 miles from a city here in Iowa, USA that is home to a large population of Dutch. Pella. They have a relatively new eatery that sells frikandelle and a host of other foods. Gonna have to give that a try.
8:28 ... Yes it is .. My dad used to take me camping and we would find a branch with roughly the thickness of a frikandel and cut the bark off. then we made bread dough or used store bought puff pastrie and put it around the stick where we cut off the bark and cooked it over a campfire. then he cooked the frikandellen and when the bread was ready we added saus in the hole of the bread and he added a frikandel into the hole. If that is not "Its oke to play with youre frikandel" then I dont know what is. I will bet you a frikandel broodje from BP or AH that those originated from cooking frikandel and bread like this.
My first time commenting but anyway im from South Africa and here we also have something called a "frekkedel" but we make it with fresh ground beef, thanks for the idea of smoking it! Never even crossed my mind.
It's in French on the package because we are crazy about it in Belgium. Classic fast-food sandwich for us is frikadellen + fries + sauce on a baguette. It's called a mitraillette and it's awesome.
When I lived in Brazil, I always brought my own beers, but room temperature ones. Two reasons for that... In Brazil, it is customary to drink beers that are very cold, sometimes even below 0 degrees Celsius; that causes stomach-problems for me. Besides that, it kept freeloaders (and there are many) from drinking my beers :-)
No we don't have frikandellen in the US.... was 't maar waar!!!!!! There was a place that made them but they stopped because of no demand (that was before I arrived here 😂). A "Frikandel Oorlog".... man... so good!
We Got frikadeller in Denmark , but not AS a knob We eat Them in the form of a meatball ( Shallow fried in butter) a Danish stable with cabbage and potatoes
Very funny. 🤣🤣 In South Africa we also have frikkidelle, but they are more like curry meatballs. As students we also get invited to BBQs where you bring your own meat and drinks. You are also required to grill it yourself the way you like. It is called “bring en braai”. Love it.
I've never seen them in a sausage shape. I make them into small thick patties and fry them in a pan. We call them bouletten. I'm thinking out trying this with cooked patties cut into pieces.
Frikandel comes from the VOC-time. The dutch navy soldiers went to Indonesia where they ate Frikandel-pan. It's the same as frikandel but in the form of a large ovendish. The Dutch soldiers loved it so much they made rolls out of it for better handeling and shipping. Somewhere in The Hague is a snackbar that still makes them the original way, Indonesian. (Haring btw is raw fish, but you said fermented). Love your video's :D
