My favorite Pokémon game is platinum with heart gold/soul silver not to far behind. While I do have a lot of great memories with pearl, platinum is just pearl, but better. I recently found your channel and I'd like to say your videos are great. Keep up the good work!

A top 10 Pokémon games list and no Pokémon Mystery Dungeon? BLASPHEMY!
And Pokémon Rumble Blast was kind of cool too, though beating the game 100% was impossible for me. Not only are the Ex6 battles ridiculously difficult, but you can't make stronger Pokémon appear without spending hours and hours grinding money.
The main games, I'm not sure. Pokémon Platinum was pretty good, I guess. I also liked BW2.

My favorite pokemon to use was Sabrina's Abra, and my friends always dreaded when I picked it cus after a large combo it's voice just gets louder and louder and I could chain combos together really large. The Hoenn games are my favorites, all 5 of them. I've actually thought about making a video on why I like them so much. Most of the time, people just assume it's out of nostalgia, but they weren't even my first games. I didn't play the Hoenn games until about a year after I first picked up the series.

I haven't played Platinum or any of the games that came after Diamond and Pearl, but I just want to say that I think your second and third place choices (granted I played crystal) are definitely my top two favorites. 10. Pokémon Fire Red - Grown to love it through ROM Hacking.9. Pokémon Y - I don't have too many side games, so most are main series here. It was cool and all, just lackluster to other games.8. Pokémon Sun - New battling interface, RotomDex, Z-moves, cool new Pokémon that are tropical. Just the main story has me not wanting to play it because I'm not done yet.7. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire - I can't describe it... it just takes the Gen 3 games which are some of my favourites and amps them up to be modern.6. Pokémon HeartGold - I didn't make it too far into Kanto but it just has a nostalgic feel of battling and trading with my friend who has SoulSilver.5. Pokémon Emerald - This game is so much fun, another game I cannot put into words.4. Pokémon White - I hated Gen 5 with a burning passion because it didn't feel like Pokémon to me after I played all of Gen 4. But I've grown to want to play it, but I lost my cartridge :(3. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - I am still playing this game. Infinite possibilities, so many Pokémon I love are available. Too bad I still cant beat Primal Dialga.2. Pokémon Battle Revolution - A Pokémon Wii Game? I was all over this, battling my sister and CPUs with my in game team. I got to see them with 3D models on the big screen! 1. Pokémon Diamond - This was my FIRST Pokémon game. I traded and battled at my friends house, went underground for hours with my sister. So many good memories. I woke up for school one morning to find my game file was corrupted. I lost my Infernape, which only exists on my Battle Revolution disc (sad to say, the disc got reset). My mom bought me an Infernape figure which she later returned and I now end up regretting. I spent forever waiting at the honey tree, I linked up with my Emerald to catch new Pokémon, I spent an entire Saturday throwing timer balls at Giratina... so many good memories!

Out of the main series games, it's hard to say which one is my favorite. I love gen 3, 4, 6, and 7, so any of those games. Yellow, Crystal, and Gold hold a lot of nostalgia for me, so I really like them. For non-main series games though, Gale of Darkness is my absolute favorite, with Pokemon Snap coming in at second place. (Still hoping for a new Snap game, it would be epic.)

Platinum is by far my favorite Pokemon game as well! I might have more nostalgia talking, but I remember being an 8 year old kid and buying the game at launch, along with the strategy guidebook. I spent many a night when I should've been in bed playing contests and the slot machines in the game corner. That thousand page guidebook (this thing was and still is enormous, my goodness!) was my only source of information on the game and I probably sat with that big thing next to me while played all the time. The music alone was fantastic, too, one of the only game soundtracks I'd consider buying imo. I still have the cartridge I bought when the game came out, though how I didn't lose it, I have no idea. Highly recommend that game for those who haven't checked it out, even if the beginning is a little slow. I'm looking forward to seeing that Giratina scene re-done in the remakes (should they make one, of course.) and I'm hoping it'll be just as exciting for me as when I saw it 10 years ago.

    (SPOILERS AHOY)
Platinum is by far my favorite Pokemon game as well. Platinum was the first ever video game I ever owned and played and I still haven't erased my original save file from 2008. I also really like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky and was shocked that a mystery dungeon game didn't show up on your list. The story and music is atmospheric and moving, the sprites are reminiscent of gba sprites and hold a lot of nostalgia, and i still play it to this day. I recommend the mystery dungeon series if you haven't played it yet.

Pokemon Emerald Battle Frontier was THE definitive experience of post-game content in any Pokemon game. I still remember reaching the battle frontier for the first time when I played that game as a kid and just being overwhelmed with the scope of it! Battle facilities that host 7 different ways to have Pokemon battles that really make you re-think strategy! And the symbols were essentially like post-game badges and carried symbolism in Pokemon battles that were quite nice. I was a little disappointed in the battle frontier for Platinum though aside from its little story mode quest. It's a shame that ORAS only included a different rendition of the battle tower and not an entire frontier.

My favorite has gotta be Emerald. My first Pokemon game was actually Pokemon Yellow, which 1st) wasn't even my game, my grandparents had it at their house on the original Gameboy (no, not Gameboy Color, the brick Gameboy), and 2nd) was in like 2001. I went to there house every day for like 3 weeks during the summer just to play it and beat it. Bear in mind, I was only 5 or 6 when I played this. While I wasn't able to afford a Gameboy of my own, I borrowed Gameboys and games from my friends at school as well as my cousins and I played parts of Crystal, Fire Red and Leaf Green. Then in January of 2005 for my birthday at Chuck E. Cheeses, I got both a Gameboy Advance SP and Pokemon Emerald. I fell in love with Pokemon that day. I have since fallen out of love after playing Diamond and Pearl, but it was all worth it. Emerald was my first official game and I love everything about it to this day.
Now a side note, those of you with sharp memories may notice a presumed error in my timeline: that I got Emerald in January of 2005. That causes an issue and assumes I'm lying because Emerald wasn't released in North America until May of 2005. And you know what I have to say to that? I have no fucking clue. We were a lower class family having financial issues at the time, but somehow my parents (who knew little to nothing about handheld consoles like the GBA SP or game like Pokemon) found a copy of Emerald in english in Wisconsin 4 months before it was supposed to be released in North America. It wasn't until a couple years ago I realized this when looking at the Emerald Wiki page. So there's that.

Hmmm I'd say my personal favorite pokemon game is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time (b/c I haven't played Sky). Loved the story and the fact that a lot of Pokemon that aren't good competitively in the main games are completely viable in this one.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. They were the games I originally started playing. they're what introduced me to Pokemon so they always hold a place in my heart. I've tried getting used to the newer games but they just... idk, they don't do it for me.

This took a while, but I made my own Top 10 Pokémon games list (only main series because that's what I've played)
    10. R/S: I've played these games quite a lot, but they haven't aged as well as some of the entries on the list, plus there's that whole thing with siding with one team, not to mention all the water you have to surf on later in the game.
    9. Emerald: I've beaten this game once, but it's definitely better than Ruby and Sapphire. There's more double battles (a bit too many, imo) and there's the impression that both teams are wrong.
8: B2/W2 (I'm gonna get murdered for this): The larger cast of Pokémon is nice, but I feel like the story of this game is pretty weak, having much more of a black and white 😉 morality than Black and White. Plus, some of the characters are just eh, like Marlon.
7: Platinum (I'm gonna be slaughtered for this): There's no doubting how many improvements this game made over Diamond and Pearl. I can appreciate it on that level. But the one problem I have with Platinum (and it's a pretty big one) is that every time you put Pokémon in a box or mess around with the PC, the game takes eons to save. HG/SS did take a long time to save at times, but it was only once or twice when the adventure first started. This is a constant problem, which does hurt the game a lot for me.
    6. X/Y: I like a lot of the improvements to the overall formula of the games (Exp. Share, Mega Evolution, etc) and getting two starters is pretty cool in my book, but the games were a little too easy for me, not to mention the Elite 4 doesn't upgrade at all.
5: FR/LG: I've played these games a lot, and I like them a lot for their simplicity. Sometimes it's nice to only be able to choose from the classic 151 Pokémon. The physical/special split being weird does hold a lot of Pokémon back, and I have a big gripe with how the evolution of friendship based Pokémon was handled.
4: B/W (My corpse is gonna look like Caesar at this rate): Similar to FR/LG, I like these games a lot for the fact that you can only use Unova Pokémon. Sure, there are some lame ones, but I like a lot of them. Plus, I find the story here fantastic. I love how it addresses a common criticism given to the Pokémon series as a whole without being entirely one sided about things. However, the colors are a little drab, and while it does work for the urban setting, it's a slight downside.
3: OR/AS: Having played Ruby and Sapphire prior to these, I like a lot of the improvements that the game made to the originals. There were some missteps, like taking away the Mauville Game Corner and the horrendous pacing choice made after beating the fifth gym, but as a whole, I enjoy these games a lot.
2: S/M: I had a lot of fun playing this game. I wanted it to replace my number one entry as my favorite, especially for introducing my favorite Pokémon, Decidueye, and it came really close to doing so. The changes to the formula are enough to interest newer players without alienating the older players of the series, plus the plethora of Pokémon you have to choose from is insane. However, the game is held back by the long time it takes to get a starter (especially if you're looking for a good nature, like me) and the fact that the Elite 4 make a minimal upgrade (they boost like five or six levels). So if Sun and Moon weren't good enough to be number one, then what was?
1: HG/SS: These games (more so HeartGold) are very nostalgic to me. HeartGold was my very first DS and Pokémon game, and it was a boatload of fun. I like the way they incorporate some of the Sinnoh evolutions into the Johto Pokedex, like Tangrowth and Yanmega. I also love the soundtrack and overall look to the game, not to mention the glorious post game. As much as I love these games, they are imperfect, like the fact that Kanto should have had the Moss Rock, Icy Rock, and the electrically charged area (seriously, Moss Rock in Viridian Forest, Icy Rock in Seafoam Islands, and electrically charged area in the Power Plant) as a post game addition, and the Elite 4 are kinda weak to begin with, but they're not bad enough for me to ruin the overall solid experience of HG/SS.
I know this was a long comment, but hopefully you took the time to read it. I wanted to justify why the entries are where they are.

Platinum is really nostalgic for me too because it's the first main series game I remember having (my first one was blue but i was too young to remember much of it now) and it just holds up really well and is so much fun

i loved every pokemon game up to gen 3, for a while ruby was my favorite ever, didnt like gen 4 so I stopped playing for a long time. until one day i'm 21, years later at gamestop, and i decided to grab a 3DS, pokemon Y and alpha sapphire. I have bought every game since and am an avid shiny hunter. Y is my favorite pokemon game of all time now by a pretty wide margin, restored my immense love for this IP. So it baffles me to hear praise for gen 5 and slander for x/y. They are INCREDIBLE in my opinion. I will always have a special place in my heart for gen 6 now.

My Top 10 would be probably...
Pokémon Yellow for nostalgia and being a decent way to play Gen 1
Pokémon Colosseum for being different but in a fun way
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver for being solid remakes, though Johto is forgettable for me so they're lower
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for a good story, great music, and fun gameplay
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for being a step up in quality from Gen 6 as a whole
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness for improving Colosseum and making an already fun game great
Pokémon Emerald for the hours of replay value it has, and its prolly the game I've replayed the most
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorer's of Sky, one of the first games to make me cry, and it still chokes me up even today. It improves on what Blue Rescue Team did right.
Pokémon Black and White Version 2, for being excellent sequels to already great games.
Pokémon Platinum, which is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. Excellent post game content, a fantastic OST, pretty good sprites, and a near perfect sense of difficulty scaling (It wasn't as harsh as Johto's or had that stupid EXP thing Gen 5 has), fixed the Pokédex issue Diamond and Pearl had (and almost every issue they had in general), and has a lot of content in general.
Also kudos to using favorite and not best, since I had a feeling Gen 2 was gonna be super high on the list. Nostalgia is a valid reason for something being someone's favorite, cuz I get annoyed at these Top 5 Best/Worst games lists, lol

    10. Ruby/Sapphire - I skipped over these games cause I went from Fire Red directly to Gen 4 and later I played them and ended up loving them
    9. Yellow - It’s the only way I can play Gen 1 and have any enjoyment but yeah Yellow is great
    8. Ranger - At first I hated it but after a while it gets pretty fun
    7. D/P - Responsible for 80% of my childhood
    6. Mystery Dungeon R/B - Breathtaking story and really difficult (which is good)
    5. HG/SS - Never played Gen 2 before these but the remakes are truly remarkable
    4. B&W2 - The best Pokémon game to date in terms of aesthetics
    3. Mystery Dungeon T/D - Best story in a Pokémon game ever

  • @1991birthday
    @1991birthday 6 ปีที่แล้ว

For me it's Heart Gold/Soul Silver. I watched the anime & collected the cards as a kid, I didn't have a Gameboy so I couldn't play the Pokemon games even though I wanted to. It was partly a choice to not have a Gameboy, my mom was buying one for my younger sister as a birthday present & I was with her when she was getting it, my sister was born at the beginning of September & I was born at the end so my birthday was coming up. Feeling bad about getting my sister something like that, she asked me if I wanted one & I was a stubborn kid that if I knew what I was getting as a present, I wouldn't want it because I like surprises so I told her no, I wanted to be surprised. So yeah, I didn't grow up with the games, only the anime & trading card game.
When I got older & almost the exact same situation happened when my mom got a DS Light for my sister as a Christmas present, I happened to be with her at the time & she actually was getting one for herself, wanting me to feel included she asked me if I wanted one & I asked if it comes in purple, my favorite color. Of course it didn't but I decided to take a blue one. At this time, I wasn't into Pokemon too much anymore, I dropped in the middle of gen 3 so I didn't get a Pokemon game for my DS.
A few more years goes down the road & when I'm in high school, I find Pokemon has made a come back in popularity, people talking about the brand new fifth generation & all that & I was that person who was like back in my day.... yeah, I was more sold on the older Pokemon generations but I wasn't a genwunner. The second generation had better memories for me since when I got started on the series, gen one had gone through a lot of its run, I still started on the first episode somehow & watched it every day at 4pm on Kids WB while doing my homework, only missing a few episodes such as the one where Ash's Charmander evolved into Charmeleon, yeah, imagine my surprise when I see he has a Charmeleon, in the episode where it evolves into Charizard! Yeah, I was shocked. Anyways, there were gaps for me in the first gen but to this day, I can still remember when Kids WB advertised Pokemon Johto & how excited I was for it, I was there when we got each episode & didn't miss a single one in that gen. I loved the Johto region & the second generation. One of my favorite Pokemon songs that came on after the show was in that generation as well, Two Perfect Girls.
It takes a lot of pushing & one of my friends who is completely obsessed with Pokemon that I met through a different video game & is four years younger than me would constantly talk about what's new with Pokemon & I'd share my memories of the older generations with her so much that I decided to just go ahead & rewatch up to the point where I had left off.... then I continued. Somehow managed to catch up to where the series was which was at that point the later part of gen five.
I then was going on about how I wanted to go on my own Pokemon adventure with the friend who officially got me back into it but wasn't sure which game to start on & she told me since I love the Johto region so much that I need to play either Heart Gold or Soul Silver. I decided to get Soul Silver since Lugia is one of my favorite legendary Pokemon & that's where I began my first Pokemon journey, making mountains of mistakes that I thought I'd learn from when playing Crystal & partly I did but I started with Chikorita in Soul Silver, I chose Cyndaquil in Crystal because I wanted to get through the game faster, I figured going with a typing that's not weak to the first two gyms was a step in the right direction but my habits from having the hardest starter kicked in & I wound up doing things like catching a Geodude at the beginning & grinding that up because the one I had in Soul Silver was such a life saver & I didn't want to evolve her into a Golem because that would mean trading her & I was too attached to trade her. This Geodude I did grind in Crystal pulled & is still pulling a ton of weight for my team although I wouldn't be opposed to evolving her since I would like a Golem, just gotta find out which of my friends will want to trade with me so I can evolve her. Still put in too much work on this thing, she wrecked Morty's gym.
Funny that Platinum was your number one, I was soft resetting for a shiny Giratina when watching this video..... in Ultra Moon. Yeah, I finally got my Dialga from that event so I was able to find Giratina. I do have Platinum but I only have two gym badges, to be truthful I started playing it & then did nothing with it for like three years until a few days ago, I picked it up & played it a bit, beating the second gym with barely even knowing my own team anymore but it didn't take me long to get use to them again. I don't think I'll be putting in that kind of effort for a shiny Giratina in my copy of Platinum, I already spent enough time soft resetting for it in Ultra Moon.
