In an interview where he speaks in searing if not excoriating terms about the sort of country India has become in the last decade, about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and about one of India’s most popular film stars Shah Rukh Khan, the well-known and widely followed blogger Avay Shukla says Narendra Modi “is delusional, totally lacks empathy and compassion, is amoral” adding “the audience must decide for themselves whether this means he is a flawed personality”. Mr. Shukla asks: “What moral value does he (Modi) stand for other than winning elections and staying in power?”

It is wrong to point fingers at Shahrukh Khan. Why should the Muslim actors speak- they are already vulnerable and being targeted and will be branded anti-nationals.. shouldn't the majority hindu actors speak for them, no one will question their patriotism as being a Hindu in today's "Bharat" guarantees them to be nationalists. These Hindu actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn instead have become godi. The same is true of the so called cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar. Moral of the story - we are a selfish and insensitive society. Period.

Best interview, boldness, outspoken and crystal clear with the hypocrisy of Modi about the non Hindu communities and women who were victims in Manipur, Haryana and other cases like bilkis banu. Modi shamelessly and publicly shouts that he always stand with the Shakti of women. Kick BJP and safe the country.

I personally think that SRK speaks through his films. The way he was able to unite the country and convey the messages via his films is more powerful than dissent that’s expressed in anger.

Agreed. Shukla seems to have no problem with the silence of Amitabh Bachan, but expects one Muslim actor to take on ALL of Bollywood and the government. Utterly ridiculous. Kidnapping his son and holding him in prison and for a ransom was done specifically to silence him. Shukla is absurdly incorrect on SRK.

And when you punish & penalise him for trying to help you out when he does ! Even GOD doesnt help those who dont help themselves !

    Mr. Shukla,
You have analysed the present day status of our so called middle class educated society so precisely that I (a part of other silent half of society) had to stop myself from listening your interview midway and write these lines first so as to unburden my conscience before listening to the remaining interview.
This book of yours or atleast this interview of yours need to go around in our so called " Housing Society what's app groups" for those silent members at least, who have accepted that
I wish some other Hindi video channels also talk to you on their talk show . You are absolutely on dot of the present Society during this period. Now whether this carries us to that Natzi mindset & its historical effects, only the Time knows !

The reason why a significant segment of the Hindu samaj has fallen prey to the propaganda of IT Cell is fear. This fear is due to the fact that the Varna Vyavastha & its outcome, the Caste system, have divided the Hindu Samaj, weakening it to such an extent that it failed to unite despite repeated raids from the North-West. It's exploitative nature ensures that the longstanding divisions in the Hindu Samaj cannot be overcome unless the beneficiaries of that exploitative system give up the privileges they have enjoyed. This has been explained very well by Ambedkar in his book on the Caste System.
Fear comes in the way of objective perception of reality. Hence, a significant segment of the majority Hindu population remain indoctrinated, despite clear signs of the shortcomings of governance.

Why does the media think we were silent only for the past 10 yrs. We were silent on Kashmir Pandit exodus, silent on terrorism, silent on lack of public infrastructure. We are silent on many many issues for a long time. Social media is highlighting and increasing this list of issues. The list has increased and People's tolerance to ignoring these has changed. Today people don't tolerate things. They bring these things to public using social media, pils, sharing videos on WhatsApp and so on and garner support for their cause. The fruit will fall only when it ripens. Any issue has to gain mass over other issues for masses to galvanize to call for resolution or it fizzles out. Take Palestine issue. There is tons of sympathy but no major power including Hamas want a solution. They want the issue to burn and fizzle out.

The problem here is that international acceptance of Modi is based on the integrity of international standards which seems to be dubious in many ways itself in present times. Very true assessment by the author about the 37% Indians who want others to be subjugated and brutalized. So the message is, whatever traits the masses have and who promote it forcefully and matter in elections, elect a leader who thinks and behaves exactly like them. I have also noticed this trend in several countries abroad as well. This is a reality in India today. The coming together of all the states that make India today as a nation, was based on pluralism where every one had equal rights. The problem is how long will this unity remain intact without that equality missing, and if applying brutal force by the reigning power to keep them in line will become a reality sooner or later.

That is the Fight of democracy against autocratic forces and wealthy people. We changed monarchy to democracy but those wealthy powerful players didn’t vanish. They keep attacking our democracy in multiple ways like by changing our laws slowly, adding lobbyists, destroying educational institutions, rendering research useless, focusing on job’s generation by only super rich, not promoting independent businesses and co- ops, spreading housing crisis, unmanaged population, unmanaged pollution, spreading discrimination, no investment on research that solves food crisis, free alternative energy, and many more. Hence the idea and practice of democracy needs to be drummed in, lived in our lives and practiced in every generation. Democracy must become our culture that we pass down every generation. People should push back and take a stand every time there is sometimes unconstitutional. People should demand to be way more involved in politics than just voting. Maybe then we won’t have Modi and likes of him threatening our democracies.
