Cyberpsychosis is no joke in the setting. As with any mental health issue, it hits everyone a little bit differently. But the gist of the condition, is that excessive cybernetic augmentation can eventually result in a subject's disconnection from their own sense of humanity. A common symptom, is that cyberpsychotics become unreasonably dismissive, or annoyed by the limitations of the unaugmented. You can see this manifest in the way Maine treats Kiwi in the early part of the episode.
Unless you're already an arrogant psychopath, like Adam Smasher.
Yup. Very few people can handle turning their body into more chrome than meat. The more stable connections you have, like family, friends, and attachments helps keep people more grounded. People with pre-existing issues tend to slide faster. Cyberpyschosis in Cyberpunk is not exact, but a variety of issues. For those who start that slide, there ARE options. Downgrading your chrome is one. Replacing with bionics is another. Coupled with therapy, it is possible to handle those difficult issues. VERY FEW people have ever shrugged off pyschosis. In canon, I can only remember Shaitan who was a fullborg back in the day, but he had a cause (destroy Arasaka) and LOTS of community. He kept sane because he had people who were there for him, and knew how to keep him focused. The other is V from 2077, but their case was special as they were sharing the mental load with someone else, akin to two people carrying the couch instead of one. Plus, they only did so for a limited time. The only other was...yup, ADAM SMASHER. Of course, you can lose your sanity if you didn't HAVE it to begin with. He was a pure monster LONG before his conversion.
This is when things take… a cybernetic turn.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a tragedy about sacrificing your own dreams to fulfill the dreams of others. Cyberpunk 2077 is a tragedy about death. Your death, namely.
