- This video talks about the omission of pronouns in Spanish. Do you know when it's okay to omit pronouns and when you need to include a subject pronoun/noun/proper name? In this video, we talk about some of the conjugations and tenses in Spanish that are more ambiguous and when it is recommended to use a subject pronoun or noun in order to clearly convey whom we are talking about.
Excelente video, profesor. No me había dado cuenta de que el español omite los pronombres en algunas situaciones. Excelentes ejemplos en el vídeo. Es algo a lo que hay que prestar más atención. Por ejemplos, en esa frase utilizan el "me":
"Eu gosto de jogar futebol".
"Me gusta jugar al fútbol".
"I like to play soccer".
Espero haber escrito la frase correcta en inglés.
I have travelled many times in Cuba after learning Spanish here in Europe in the seventies. I have heard the pronouns used more often in Cuba than in Spain. Is this correct? Is it normal in Brazilian Portuguese to leave out the pronouns?
Portuguese uses pronouns more often than in Spanish, but also omit them. I have also noticed that there are some variants of Spanish that use pronouns more often and also prefer certain constructs such as "Qué tú quieres?
