The eminent boy soprano must be Friedrich Pfeiffer, the main WSK soprano soloist at the time of this recording (1971) and one of the very best from the 1955-75 WSK era. He later has worked as a hornist and conductor. - Most likely he iwas also the soprano boy in BWV 4 & 5.
Track 5 is a wonderful illustration of Stainer fiddle tone. Up against high vocal soloists, the gorgeous, almost 'vinegary' tone of Alice Harnoncourt's fiddle cuts through wonderfully, in a way that a more more usual Italian instrument wouldn't. Almost the whole fiddle section of the Concentus Musicus was either Stainer or Stainer-school at this time - Nikolaus had scoured the world for loans of such instruments for the Cantata recordings and his effort shows. Alice's usual instrument at the time was already a Jacob - and a fine one too.
