My hope is that people who felt stuck in this field or maybe even burnt out will see this as an opportunity to explore their options. This is America. Opportunities are everywhere. No one should have to go against their conscience in order to collect a paycheck.
Healthcare workers who don't want to get vaccinated can get jobs in Florida or Texas or Mississippi or the other five least vaccinated states that make up 50% of new COVID cases. Their healthcare systems are overwhelmed and they don't have enough staff for all patients. I don't mean this in a snarky way - they are needed there.
All States and organizations will be marching in "lock step" so that options to work will be more and more limited. I believe that in order to have mandated healthcare a person will require vaccinations. The government will probably then require all Medicare insured seniors to also be vaccinated to continue their coverage. It has been proposed that medical facilities who provide services for Medicare patients prove their staff are vaccinated to receive payments and their contract with the government. I made the choice to get the vaccine or walk away from a 40 year career in healthcare last week. Hardest decision I made. Keep in mind that physicians with medical doctorates across the country have a rate of 96% of taking the vaccine. If we're looking at the epitome of medicine as a profession, despite all of the noble duties that nurses and courageous staff perform every day, we should err towards those with the highest degree of expertise and knowledge of medicine to gauge the overall reaction. Unfortunately, the rate of vaccination among medical staff does fall precipitously to around 80%. I appreciate the lady that said she wants to make her own decision without referencing microchips and other silliness, that the government doesn't know what's going on with her body - but that's the decision you have to make when you're in the healthcare industry. Patients' lives, unfortunately, are on the line and so she must weigh her options being in that profession of choice. "Do no harm."

Considering that other vaccinations are already mandated to keep working odds are against them gaining any change around this shot. Just to be clear I have only served on contract teams for EVERY UW contract from the first one in 2005 til the one that started on July 1 2021 and ends June 2023. I retired at the end of May this year. Those contracts included hospital support staff (techs, food service, security, custodial, skilled trades etc at both Harborview and UW Medical Center. We coorindated with the other unions so I have a solid knowledge of their language on the subject ( and public sector contracts are easy to find on line but you need some training to figure out what you are looking for). I would also point out that UW Medicine says that staff at all four of the hospitals they are running at over 85% fully vaccinated in the support units and HIGHER among the nurses and doctors.

In other words, the "getting" part is rare, and having a vaccine also means a shortened duration of illness. Keep in mind that most attenuated virus vaccines, for example, almost exclusively produce short term side effects in the range of weeks. mRNA is a much more specific mechanism rather than holistic, and most of the ingredients are extremely short-lasting, so why would we expect to see more long term side effects from that? We're talking about nanolipids, salts, acid stabilizers and ribonucleic acid, whereby both mRNA and spike proteins are degraded by the human body within a matter of days thanks to ribonuclease function. What's left? Antibodies, pretty much, since the spike proteins are physically gone as well as the mRNA in the immunological cells.
10 years is a very long time, and the body goes through a lot in that time. It would have to be something extraordinary that is actually in the vaccine which would produce such long term effects, and I'm just wondering what that "thing" is that you believe creates the potentiality. We don't always test things if the claim is extraordinary enough, and this is one such instance I would suggest. We need a plausible mechanism.

The vax doesn’t prevent infection but greatly lessens the odds of hospitalization and/or death. It’s like having a fire suppression system in your home. Doesn’t mean it can’t catch on fire but greatly reduces the odds of major damage.

Strikes require a vote of the union local and often approval from the next level. Strike votes tend to require a super majority pass.

Considering that other vaccinations are already mandated to keep working odds are against them gaining any change around this shot. Just to be clear I have only served on contract teams for EVERY UW contract from the first one in 2005 til the one that started on July 1 2021 and ends June 2023. I retired at the end of May this year. Those contracts included hospital support staff (techs, food service, security, custodial, skilled trades etc at both Harborview and UW Medical Center. We coorindated with the other unions so I have a solid knowledge of their language on the subject ( and public sector contracts are easy to find on line but you need some training to figure out what you are looking for). I would also point out that UW Medicine says that staff at all four of the hospitals they are running at over 85% fully vaccinated in the support units and HIGHER among the nurses and doctors.

Got my blood test a month ago just for my own curiosity since I caught the 40oz flu in December…and based on talking with my doctor he doesn’t see a reason for me to get the shot. My body already recognizes the virus (and the variants are still the same base virus).
Only had a cough and loss of taste and smell for about 5 months. Maybe having O+ blood helped…idk…it’s a theory out there apparently about blood types being a factor on what symptoms you can get…no idea if it’s legit, but it would be interesting to find out.
And I agree that other poisons do get peddled as “good items” because of hype and whoever backs a company. Another reason I don’t blindly follow either political side when they endorse or demand something. Politicians have so much to gain by pushing fear and division.
