Fr, we all know who has friends here 🙄🙄🙄 & they wonder why they can't connect to younger gens. The problem starts with *your* writers purposefully misrepresenting the truth
Imagine calling a year-long affair with an engaged subordinate “a consensual kiss at a Harry styles concert.” Tell me this was written by Ned’s friend at SNL without telling me this was written by Ned’s friend at SNL.
Arguably that is what is, though. I think people are stretching the owner part too far. It's not illegal to have a relationship with your boss. Some companies ask you declare it (There are issues of both nepotism and a power dynamic at play, that can be agreed on.) But ultimately if they do not feel pressured or the like, then it is not an issue. The core issue is people not wanting to work with someone who cheats on their wife, and it is wrapped with the company's brand. That harms the whole brand. If he wasn't married or in a relationship, it wouldn't have been a big deal. If he cheated with someone outside of the company, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but it would be a bigger deal than the first case Both combined have made it explode, perhaps a bit out of proportion in my opinion.
Ned was LITERALLY the best person to make fun of in this situation. It wasn’t just because he cheated on his wife with an employee, but this man made his ENTIRE personality and life about his wife for a decade! That’s why people are talking.
i didn't remember until seeing these comments, but yeah that makes sense. also SNL just isn't funny and likes to downplay victims of SA so this tracks for them.
@@dietotaku Conflict of interest...? This isn't a legal case, this is a "comedy" (though how funny this was is debatable). Should SNL not satirize political matters due to a "conflict of interest" (since most, if not all of them are Democratic-leaning)?
I was brought here because Eugene announced his departure, which is no biggie, but I’m watching a interview with Anthony Padilla and they were talking about the skit never even knew this existed. I am so done with SNL.
I’m an avid SNL watcher and seriously had no clue this existed until I went to search the guys up to binge some videos and this was an option to click on 😭😭
@Z Malek nobody said that South Korea or Iran weren’t important. We’re all saying that making fun of three friends for standing up against infidelity and immorality is a dumb and strange move for SNL to make.
Let’s be honest at the real reason why SNL approved this sketch. SNL still hasn’t addressed the sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, of course they are going to poke fun at three men holding their former business partner accountable for his actions.
@@corvenzo221 its funny but snl is known for their videos showing their stance on a subject. Finally a man is being held accountable (even if it is just for cheating) and this is how they respond? mocking the people who did the right thing, even though it was hard.
Bc they didn’t miss, they are making a joke of how tone deaf the situation has gotten compared to other life changing news going on rn. Giving a white man attention bc he cheated and was fired VS kids being murdered in Thailand or life changing laws being passed.
Calling a year-long affair with a subordinate which results in the betrayal your wife and children *"a consensual kiss"* is like calling a hit-and-run "driving the speed limit"
The fact you find this entertainment is the real crime...I got 30 seconds in and couldn't handle it...i have sneaking suspicion is the fact you care about someone's interpersonal bs of the try guys ..is the joke they're making
yes we should totally be making fun of keith, zach and eugene for being angry at their friend after he essentially ruined their business they took years to build and not the man who had an affair with his employee (sexual misconduct !!!!!) and broke up two decade long relationships, including his own in which he had two children ! ur so right snl
Ive been watching them since the buzzfeed days so the fact that SNL let this slide and a room (most likely) filled with men thought this was funny just shows how atrocious how it brings to light inappropriate workplace relations and i feel like slides sexual harassment under the rug. Everyone needs to remember we domt know the full story with ned and alex cause ned was in a place of power.

75% of men and 68% of women admit to cheating at one point in their life. It's so funny that everyone thinks they are above it when statistically given the opportunity, you would take it.
Can you tell us how they misread it? Because I want to know what he did that was so dramatic that he is now dead to all his friends and needs to be digitally erased from all content so viewers aren't traumatised. Who did he r*pe or kill exactly?
Keith, Zach and Eugene do not deserve any hate for their response to the situation. They handled it so, so professionally and responsibly and the last thing they deserve is backlash from freaking SNL
I found the sketch pretty funny, not because they were making fun of the situation, but because the CNN reporter was being a super fan of the group. I guess when you don't really care about anything the Try Guys do, this kind of skit is pretty funny. I guess I am detached enough from this group that I just don't care about the detail and just find the spoof funny.
Literally. I respected the guys so much for how they handled the situation. I just think it’s so messed up how cheating is just brushed off as no big deal nowadays
Thanks for letting us know you don’t see anything wrong with secret workplace relationships between a powerful individual and a subordinate, SNL, real classy
There's so many funny jokes about this situation, and you managed to miss every single one of them. Guess that's what happens when your buddy is on the writing staff
Yeah, there is a bit of humor to be squeezed out of this, but this wasn't it. They could have done an audition montage of people trying out to be the next Try Guy, with interview questions that shame Ned.
This is disgusting behavior!!! We’ve been trying so hard to get men to hold other men accountable for cheating and once they do they immediately get made fun of, the way the try guys handled this was incredibly well and my heart aches for Ariel and the boys, and Will.
It's not that they're trivializing cheating by men, it's because they're a stupid little internet flash in the pan who are using a scandal I. Their midst and blowing it up for clout.
@@chaoticgaybirb2734 and why should I care about Ariel? I am sorry that she was put through this, but Ariel probably doesn't care about some random guy on the internet and what he thinks. Its also a PRIVATE matter.
@@AnthonyJMurph exactly as you said, because of what she’s been through. She didn’t deserve this and it’s normal to care about those who didn’t deserve to be hurt. There is possibility she couldn’t care at all and is more worried about her own life. We don’t know. It is a private matter but because of how big the Try Guys are and how big their fan base is, everyone’s concerned of what happened and concerned about Ariel. Of course now it’s dampened by passing months but people still show they care and worry for Ariel.
This easily could have been a funny sketch pointing out that Ned was constantly trying to act like he was completely obsessed with being a husband, or the fact that he seemed kind of smarmy ... instead they decided it was hilarious for men to hold each other accountable in the work place.
@@maximumoccupancy it doesn’t matter if they’re completely unknown or not … it’s the fact they did the right thing and SNL are laughing at them for it like the douchebags they are . If this involves a race issue would they still make a mockery of it ??
There were definitely better (and funnier) ways to make the point of "Who even are the Try Guys and why should we care?" without the agenda of also making the situation look frivolous. You can tell they wanted to make fun of the overarching theme of "who cares? why is this news?" but they just happened to also make it seem like Ned's behavior was acceptable and unjustly punished, which makes it miss the mark to anyone who understands how serious the situation was. The legal ramifications alone make this mean more than just "a consensual kiss [I] didn't tell [my] friends about". I would be willing to rewrite this sketch for a small fee, SNL.
they just could never deal with the possibility of john mulaney not coming back bc of it. its too often that mid white guys who put up a whole act abt loving their wives cheat.
Lmao you can tell Ned got his friend to do this one. Imagine making fun of the try guys and NOT Ned in this situation. The gross abuse of power and treating it like it’s nothing is disgusting.
"Imagine..." I've noticed that every comment on here attacking Ned sounds like it comes from a child and/or idiot. Ned is the only Try Guy to not support child abuse and that's why they're TRYING to drag his name through the mudd. To take the attention off themselves.

Ned was not fired because he “kissed someone”. He was fired because as a co-founder of the company, he was sleeping with one of his subordinates and not disclosing it to HR. This opened up the remaining Try Guys to potential lawsuits. They didn’t overreact, instead taking weeks to do a thorough internal review before making any of it public. The Try Guys’ response is a great example of a stand up company.

@@Hans-sg5rg he has multiple connections with SNL workers, he either asked them or they thought they could help out. Or even worse, SNL construed this themselves… either way, it’s the shittiest take and exposed how their company would handle this.
Wow, look at that. Ned's old Yale friend made a sketch downplaying him breaking a literal law by sleeping with his employee. Which even Ned himself said in an old video is very illegal. Hope SNL is proud of themselves for continuously getting worse.
I'm sorry, what law? I'm not a legal expert but I'm pretty sure there aren't any federal nor California state law prohibiting workplace relationships, no matter what power dynamics are involved. Or do you mean extramarital affairs themselves are illegal? What?
@@HerrDurkslag google is your friend right now. a simple search would tell you yes, it is illegal. the circumstances are different for everything though. sometimes getting fired occurs, sometimes not. it honestly depends on the situation. even if it was consensual some workplaces still fire over boss/employee or co worker relationships. normally it is the company's decision. since the try guys are their own company, they decided to not tolerate a power dynamic relationship involving a "boss" (ned) and a lower employee.
@@HerrDurkslag literally found this in an article on a quick google search: “Employers may be liable for harassment not just to an employee once involved in a consensual romantic relationship, but also to other employees who have witnessed the relationship. The California Supreme Court has recognized a claim of sexual harassment brought by two women because they had been offended that other women received preferential treatment through sexual cooperation with their boss. The Supreme Court noted that an isolated incident of favoritism on the part of a supervisor toward the employee with whom the supervisor had a consensual relationship ordinarily would not constitute sexual harassment, but when “sexual favoritism in the workplace is sufficiently widespread it may create an actionable hostile work environment in which the demeaning message is conveyed.””
@@HerrDurkslag As a business student in LA it is not illegal. However, there must have been a contract agreement stating he couldn't do this with an employee. ANNND let's all ingore that ned has a friend who is a writer for SNL
In other words, everyone at SNL cheats on their spouses with their subordinates and don’t see what the big deal is. That actually, genuinely makes sense.
Actually Ned once stated in one of their old podcasts that one of his old college friends was a writer at SNL so it seems like they had something to do with it
People are making such a big deal out of this when it's just parody of internet apology videos and "actual" news reporting. The topic is serious, but that doesn't mean SNL is forbidden from touching the subject.

True, like if they added a part where there's a 'new apology video' from Ned in which the actor is like ugly crying and taking a deep sigh before saying anything (to parody all apology videos in existence), it would have at least made everyone involved in the drama look foolish. They weren’t making it for the whole world, but for the people who have followed them since the beginning. Also it’s perfectly okay for companies to fire people for a boss and subordinate relationship. Most of the time it’s illegal within the company and you can get fired for doing so. Very simple.
i don't even watch the try guys, but i found their response to this situation so professional and admirable. this is the first time i've seen any company take the accountability that they did. they were deeply hurt because their long-time friend and co-worker was involved with their subordinate. not only did someone they trusted abuse their power, but this also put their entire company and brand at risk. the fact that SNL is downplaying all of this to be some kind of silly internet drama instead of workplace sexual misconduct is very telling.
Ned didn't abuse his power, though. In all likelihood, Alex consented to the relationship. She may have even initiated it. Why I understand the reasoning behind the Try Guys firing Ned, it's still crazy how people are treating Alex as the victim when she is just as responsible for what happened.
@@greywolf7577 Legally, it doesn't matter if she was or not. In an older Food Babies video Alex is talking to YB about when she first started working for the Try Guys. She literally said she was a big fan of them. She was in awe, as anyone would around a famous person you're a fan of. Thats the point. She was a fan who became a subordinate. Power dynamic.
I was honestly really impressed by how the Try Guys handled this situation.... I don't understand how anybody at SNL thought that this was funny enough to air. And it's also not their fault that it went viral before they even had a chance to respond. Glad to know how SNL would respond to this kind of situation if/when it happens there.
It’s funny because they are pretending it like he did something traumatic, it’s just not that serious and the simple fact that they have so many people giving them sympathy is exactly why it’s such a problem, when’s the last time you supported a CEO resigning because of an affair? when is the last time you ever thought “ just think of the millionaires affected“
People forget Ned's wife was an employee too. Their two kids and her were on several videos, whole parts of the company dedicated to a family podcast. They had a couple cookbook through the company. Ned's wife and all the other guys are best friends with her and the other "try wives" the try wives have their own podcast too... like this isn't just cheating this is cheating in a group of 10 best friends with a person in a lower position of power, in public, with kids at home, while famous and you don't care who sees.
People aren't meant to be that famous, as few people handle it all that well. Meanwhile, fans know his public persona and there's no telling how much of it is PR vs. reality. Sometimes the case is fame getting to them, sometimes it's just who they really are being seen for the first time. There are an infinite number of stories like this in show biz.
Actually that’s what annoys me about the Try Guys. Their wives and girlfriends have a channel just talking about being romantically attached to the try guys? If that’s not self-absorbed I don’t know what is. The idea that Ned and Ariel think they’re qualified to write a cookbook is equally stupid
@@CoreyT97 I didn’t listen to the podcast, but I feel like with the exception of the actual trying material the try guys and their significant others seem to think them being famous qualified them to be in the business of whatever they’re doing. Wow! Today I learned that it’s okay for someone to cheat on their wife, completely disregarding their family, and with their employee at that! Really makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes of this shitshow that hasn’t been funny in years- if ever
They're parodying the reactive responses from the try guys. Cheating is a f-ed up thing to do, but it's not an earth shattering big deal. Fire him, provide support to the employee, and move on?
So the joke is "Wow an employer had an affair with an employee and the company actually did something instead of sweeping it under the rug" I feel like someone needs to check out what's happening behind the snl scenes after this because that's such a red flag edit: I completely forgot I commented this like 2 years ago until just now and there are a bunch of replies, mom pick me up I'm scared. i was so heated about this lmao???? Though rewatching it, I think despite the attempted joke being that it's silly that the try guys situation was getting more attention then other world events, the jokes were way too much at the try guy's expense and not enough at ned's.
If I worked for SNL HR, this skit would worry the hell out of me. We’re just going to completely gloss over the power imbalance between Ned and his employee and reduce a several month long affair to a “consensual kiss.” We all know Ned has friends on the writing staff and this only proves that people in positions of power and influence will not hold each other accountable for their actions and attempt to make those holding one of their own accountable into a joke.
SNL should be embarrassed by this skit. Possibly even ashamed. This choice to support the perpetrator and shame the people to reacted appropriately changed my viewpoint of SNL.
I love that SNL is essentially mocking a group of men for taking sexual misconduct at work seriously and actually firing someone for it. It started off funny but it really went downhill when it became apparent what a toxic take they had on the whole thing. SNL really missed the mark on this one and should be embarrassed to have posted it on TH-cam.
@@silentsaturn7604 You don’t understand how power dynamics work, do you? You cannot be in a fully consensual relationship with someone whose checks you sign at the end of the day. He was the HR department for the company as well, the only person who said it was consensual is Ned.
@@silentsaturn7604 there is no such thing as a consensual workplace relationship between an employer and subordinate and that's according to the law, if this had happened in any other reputable company he would have been fired, it's not about the cheating legally, this is defined as a type of workplace sexual harassment.
@@silentsaturn7604 Sexual misconduct at work is exactly why Ned got fired. You just don’t understand the legal terms. Ned signed a contract as owner of the company that he could not do that. None of them were or are allowed. Unless they sign paperwork. That’s the way it should be. Otherwise, Alex could “claim” harassment any time she wants and threaten to sue them. It’s better to have all your boxes checked, before something comes up. Especially as a business owner. So, brush up on your terms buddy or please, don’t open that Dunkin’ you were thinking about.
For anyone actually wondering what happened: Ned used to be a co-owner of the Try Guys company 2nd Try LLC that included a TH-cam channel with over 8 million subscribers and around 20 non-millionaire employees that could lose their jobs if the company gets sued. The issue began when the other owners became aware that he had cheated on his wife with one of his employees, a women named Alex who was engaged and had been dating her (now ex) fiancé for 10 years. She was a “food baby” which was a spin-off series on the channel. After the other three guys found out about this, they went through a 3 week internal review with lawyers because Ned opened up the company to a shit ton of legal issues. They terminated his contract as well as their 7 year friendship with him (this was before the internet found out) They didn’t want it to be a big deal but the internet figured out that they had edited him out of videos and the texts of him cheating got leaked, so it became more public than they originally expected and they had to make a video about it. The reason for the shock is because his entire online persona was about loving his wife, so the internet felt blindsided. However, and this is important to note, he didn’t get fired because he cheated, he got fired because he slept with his employee. The reason they have to edit him out of all the videos was because they couldn’t “profit” off of his image after he was fired as this would, again, open them up to a shit ton of legal issues. Overall this entire scandal boils down to an asshole making an incredibly stupid decision, not even trying to hide it, and potentially blowing up the hard work of 20+ people, including his own.
Your explanation is the first time I have really seen the logic if why this is such a big deal. The cheating and defamation of the internet persona he created is an issue but it is nothing more than “internet drama” until you realize the legal liability aspect.
this needs to be the top comment because i personally am tired of explaining this shit to people just because SNL had the audacity to allow it to be aired so wrongly
I came straight here after watching the actual clip the Try Guys posted This sketch was insensitive, wildly inaccurate, minimized the pain of everyone involved in the scandal, and somehow also managed to demonize the remaining Try Guys for having perfectly valid feelings. They totally did Eugene dirty on this.

Morally, it is a big deal. But that's it. It ends there. And sadly betrayed relationships are so common they don't tend to have any workplace meaning. He cheated on his wife (who he had kids with), with an employee (he was her boss). His entire personality was talking about how much he loved his wife, and his kids. If one of the owners of a company manages to abuse his power (it's pretty obvious that an affair with a subordinate breaches the code of conduct), it then places the other owners under fire. It questions their HR, and the integrity of their brand. It put their personalities (since Ned obviously showed everybody how much he lied to the screen) on the chopping block too. He basically fucked them over, didn't warn them at all, and when it all came out- he didn't even try to help his stressed-out friends by making a decent statement about the situation. So no, it's not just 'besties' upset that their buddy kissed a girl without telling them. It's business partners severing ties with an owner who put their entire companies' ethics into question. It's friends who are heartbroken for his wife (who feels betrayed and I'm assuming is divorcing him), and upset for his children- whose lives will be changed indefinitely by Ned's stupid decisions.
Yea, I’m sure growing up, Ned’s children will LOVE to see this skit and how it downplays the idea that the fact that their own father cheating wasn’t that ‘big of a deal’. I hardly watch the Try Guys but anyone with eyes can tell this is in bad taste. I feel bad for those children, but more importantly his wife, Ariel.

This is why so many sex offenders and abusers go years without being held accountable in Hollywood. They think it’s overreacting when the Try Guys take appropriate action to deal with this situation while they invite people like Kevin Spacey onto the show.
Bro, chill. There was no sexual abuse. Kevin Spacey has not been on SNL since his controversy. This is not MeToo, this is a boss having a workplace relationship with an employee. No doubt there's a power imbalance but workplace relationships are discouraged to avoid *potential* coercion, not because it's legally considered sexual harassment. People cheat, it's part of real life. They'll get over it, people will move on with their lives. In a week, nobody will be talking about this. SNL just wanted to get a quick joke in while the iron was hot. You're acting like they busted Harvey Weinstein out of jail and brought him on stage to grope every female cast member, it's just a joke about an overblown cheating scandal.
@@HerrDurkslag No one said Ned was but we don't know what happened between him and Alex exactly and showing that SNL thinks the whole potential of it being a workplace violation, morally wrong, and against the law kind of shows how SNL reacts to their own workplace violations.
@@HerrDurkslag the point I was trying to make is that the Try Guys are a representation of what it looks like to rightfully hold someone accountable in the entertainment industry. As soon as they found out, they did what was right, before it became a scandal. What Kevin Spacey was doing was allegedly an open secret in Hollywood, and it’s not like he’s the only sex offender/ abuser that’s been given a platform in that space. Ned seemingly had one inappropriate affair with a subordinate and the Try Guys booted him. How many people did famous abusers like Chris Brown, R Kelly, allegedly Horatio Sanz, and so on have to do much worse to before Hollywood took a stand? I’m not comparing Ned to those men, but I’m speaking on the blatant hypocrisy of it all. The reason why people are angry is because this has become a larger issue than just some guy cheating on his wife. Firstly, if someone hurt your favourite creators you might be reactive and protective too. People also know his wife and family from their content together and empathise with them. Secondly, yes unfortunately these things happen, but Ned is a public figure who built his brand on being a non problematic family man, and it’s understandable that the audience he accumulated through that lens feel lied to. Thirdly, and the reason why I commented, is we know that the industry tends to favour protecting people that do less than favourable things in positions of power over holding them accountable, so we‘ve been asking for better. Now that we finally see people in the industry do better, we don’t need SNL coming along trying to ridicule them for it.
Y'all heard it from snl, cheating when you're married with kids and sketchy power dynamics are okay now. But God forbid a cheater's former coworkers calling him out, that's crossing the line!
Yep, Ned's buddy from his days at Yale, who also happens to be a writer at SNL, conveniently "forgot" to mention those parts. Also forgot to mention how it wasn't just a "kiss at a Harry Styles concert", but was instead a year-long affair. An affair that resulted in him cheating on his wife Ariel, the mother of his two little boys, and whom he REPEATEDLY gushed about in his videos, thus basically making his wholesome wife-guy persona his bread and butter. And they also left out the part that the affair was one of an uneven balance of power at the workplace, where he was the boss and she was the employee. Yep, they forgot so much, I wonder if someone had a case of amnesia over there 🤔

@@AnitaNewport Because the scandal affected their careers. They are monetized and were about to have a Food Network deal, but it was cancelled because of the wrongdoings in the workplace.
It wasn't "just a kiss". They were having an affair for over 9 months, she was their producer and a good friend, and this scandal forced the Try Guys to terminate them both. Ned was her boss. There's a power dynamic there that adds a layer of fuckery onto what was already messed up about the very act of cheating itself. Ned was always talking about how much he loved his wife and kids, then he pulled this shit, and the other Try Guys couldn't just sweep it under the rug, even if they wanted to. It was out in public before they ever made the statement. They even had a Food Network deal that had to end because of this. Ned screwed all of them over, betrayed his friends, betrayed his family, and then he went to his writer friend at SNL and had them create this pathetic unfunny skit (poorly made too, I wouldn't have laughed at it even if I had no idea who the Try Guys were). SNL literally attacked the victims in this situation. There's soooo much more dirt on Ned anyway that would've been funnier to mock.
I don’t think she’s been officially terminated. As a subordinate, firing her would be retaliatory (I THINK). Pretty sure she’s still technically employed (her name is still credited as produced whereas Ned is no longer credited, for example).
Well, let's see here: Ned kissed a woman that liked him back. The other three try guys went on the internet and told millions of people about her private sexual life for the sake of likes and shares. Call me nuts, but the people who seem to be exploiting her sexually are the ones that fired a woman for who she chooses to have sex with and reaped a profit from sexually shaming two people in a consensual relationship.
@@samanthachurch I mean, did you forget the part where Ned was married and has 2 kids? And the woman was engaged? Then they should have both broken off. It was already public as fans had SEEN them making out. Besides his wife was a major part of his story and of the Try Guys channel and brand so no it's not just shaming a womans sexlife... She is still working there, they asked to respect her privacy, didn't name her once in any video... Meanwhile they did fire him. If they wanted to date they should have broken up first, not cheat on their partners for almost a year.

Yes, a group of guys on youtube made international news with this story, and a lot of people didn't understand why this was such big news, but it's important to realize that a company's superior had an extra-marital affair with a member of his staff, and continued to promote himself as a loving, family man while putting his wife and children on camera for the whole internet to see.

Good to know that if an SNL producer had a "consensual workplace relationship" with one of their employees for over a year, their HR team would do nothing.

@@ThatWeirdGuyOverThar in the legal world workplace relationships don’t mix. Ned was a Co-Owner/manager of the Try Guys. Even if it was a “consensual workplace relationship” she can turn around and file a sexual misconduct lawsuit even if there’s none involved. It’s bad because Ned portrayed himself as a guy who loves his wife and then cheats on her for a year +. This just doesn’t affect him as future projects for the Try Guys either have to be drastically edited or just thrown out entirely due to how much involvement Ned had in said projects. The core issue is people not wanting to work with someone who cheats on their wife, and it is wrapped with the company's brand. That harms the whole brand.

There's so many funny jokes about this situation, and you managed to miss every single one of them. Guess that's what happens when your buddy is on the writing staff
Are you Ned's wife Ariel?
No thats just every snl skit
now i want to know exactly which SNL writer is friends with ned
Yeah, there is a bit of humor to be squeezed out of this, but this wasn't it. They could have done an audition montage of people trying out to be the next Try Guy, with interview questions that shame Ned.
@@kjjunior7918 no they're saying it could've been funny but it wasn't
This is disgusting behavior!!! We’ve been trying so hard to get men to hold other men accountable for cheating and once they do they immediately get made fun of, the way the try guys handled this was incredibly well and my heart aches for Ariel and the boys, and Will.

It's not that they're trivializing cheating by men, it's because they're a stupid little internet flash in the pan who are using a scandal I. Their midst and blowing it up for clout.

Cheating isn’t the worlds problem, it’s YOUR problem. Most of the time, women just aren’t providing what the man needs anymore.
@@ALXMARTIN No Bitches?
Wonder what Ariel thinks of SNL downplaying the destruction of her marriage.
Who is Ariel and why should we care?
@@AnthonyJMurphAriel is Ned’s wife and we should care because she’s the woman who Ned cheated on
@@chaoticgaybirb2734 and why should I care about Ariel? I am sorry that she was put through this, but Ariel probably doesn't care about some random guy on the internet and what he thinks. Its also a PRIVATE matter.
@@AnthonyJMurph exactly as you said, because of what she’s been through. She didn’t deserve this and it’s normal to care about those who didn’t deserve to be hurt. We also have no idea what she cares about and she could at the very least take in consideration the fact like her ruined marriage is being portrayed like a clown show in a circus.
No one actually cares about the Try Guys. That's why the fact that it was being treated this seriously is perfect to make a satire of.
@@maximumoccupancy The try guys were actually rlly popular on youtube and still got millions of views every video… so they werent even irrelevant lmao
Ned having a friend who's an SNL staff writer is the missing piece that makes this sketch make sense.
Lmao you can tell Ned got his friend to do this one. Imagine making fun of the try guys and NOT Ned in this situation. The gross abuse of power and treating it like it’s nothing is disgusting.
If anything, he's ruining SNL for the younger generations now as well, so SNL will die out eventually, it's already falling apart. Good job, Ned!

Just to add about not disclosing it to HR, he WAS HR for the company. They wear multiple hats and one of his was that he was the HR lead

Wow, look at that. Ned's old Yale friend made a sketch downplaying him breaking a literal law by sleeping with his employee. Which even Ned himself said in an old video is very illegal. Hope SNL is proud of themselves for continuously getting worse.
Her name is Alison Gates
@@HerrDurkslag literally found this in an article on a quick google search:
“Employers may be liable for harassment not just to an employee once involved in a consensual romantic relationship, but also to other employees who have witnessed the relationship.
If he was let go he broke a law/ploicy within the company not the law for california. It was totally legal for try guys yo fire him. Sleeping with an emplyee under you is dangerous for the company and opened them up to lawsuits. This is highly frowned upon, even business studdnts are told not to do this shit.
“jay z cheated on Beyoncé, it’s going to be okay” are you kidding me? How dismissive can you be to someone being PUBLICLY cheated on.

I see the Try Guys paid a lot of money to have this spammed, despite no evidence he has a friend was responsible for this sketch, let alone even works at SNL.
The other try guys have had lots of videos with them participating in child grooming behaviors while Ned is popular with and attracted to adult women.

They weren’t making it for the whole world, but for the people who have followed them since the beginning. i don't even watch the try guys, but i found their response to this situation so professional and admirable. this is the first time i've seen any company take the accountability that they did. they were deeply hurt because their long-time friend and co-worker was involved with their subordinate. not only did someone they trusted abuse their power, but this also put their entire company and brand at risk. the fact that SNL is downplaying all of this to be some kind of silly internet drama instead of workplace sexual misconduct is very telling.
@here is the full clip thank you for bringing this to my attention🙏
The writer on this sketch is Ned’s friend!
@@greywolf7577 She is responsible for her actions. She cheated on her fiance of 10 years. No one is saying she shouldnt be held responsible.

It’s bananas. 100% self report
I’m glad other people think it was stupid. It’s making fun of a disgusting thing one of my favorite try guys did.
It’s cuz Ned has a friend that works for SNL
That’s a really good (and really scary) point

SNL HR works overtime to cover up abuse. That’s basically their entire job.
YES.
Pretty sure SNL's HR has been sweeping Lorne Michael's 'consensual workplace relationships' under the rug for years.

Only no one has said it was sexual misconduct, yet you run with it like it's a proven fact.
@@silentsaturn7604 consensual or not it still makes for an uncomfortable work environment for other employees.
Will Stephen is Ned's friend, and one of the writers of this sketch.
Now take a shot for every flashback you're getting of Ned saying "my buddy, Will"
For anyone actually wondering what happened: Ned used to be a co-owner of the Try Guys company 2nd Try LLC that included a TH-cam channel with over 8 million subscribers and around 20 non-millionaire employees that could lose their jobs if the company gets sued.
They terminated his contract as well as their 7 year friendship with him (this was before the internet found out)
They didn’t want it to be a big deal but the internet figured out that they had edited him out of videos and the texts of him cheating got leaked, so it became more public than they originally expected and they had to make a video about it.
Thanks I thought SNL had just made some characters up for a skit, Thanks for giving the back story.
Hmm. Thanks for giving this skit context; I had no idea what had happened.
sir, this is a Wendy's
Your explanation is the first time I have really seen the logic if why this is such a big deal. The cheating and defamation of the internet persona he created is an issue but it is nothing more than “internet drama” until you realize the legal liability aspect.
this needs to be the top comment because i personally am tired of explaining this shit to people just because SNL had the audacity to allow it to be aired so wrongly
I came straight here after watching the actual clip the Try Guys posted
This sketch was insensitive, wildly inaccurate, minimized the pain of everyone involved in the scandal, and somehow also managed to demonize the remaining Try Guys for having perfectly valid feelings.
They totally did Eugene dirty on this.
It’s crazy that this is how snl spinned it when they could have joked about the irony of Ned cheating when he’s ‘all about his wife’
Right? This could have been funny. Instead it just insulted his poor wife. Like she's not Beyonce, she'll get over it? My God... this passed so many eyes and they all thought this was chill.

Sounds painfully unfunny
Right; the rest of the world is making money off of making fun of him and SNL makes fun of responsible friends/business men protecting their brand and their friend that got cheated on. Missed opportunity.
@Miguel Alvarez they found out like at the beginning of September, and immediately took action, but they're a company, and there are legal issues so it takes time to make sure things are done right.
Imagine being Ariel and having your husband's infidelity be made out to be nothing but a joke on national TV. Men finally hold their friends accountable for SEXUAL MISCONDUCT in the workplace and they get mocked for it?! This sketch missed the mark on every level.

Even though this is a social media channel, it is also a fully operational company (fairly sure Try Guys is an LLC) and they require brand deals as well as views to be able to pay employees. It is about 99% guaranteed that brands have already pulled deals, and more probably will, because the only reason they had a contract was because Ned Fulmer was seen as a family man.

The Try Guys were not only hurt by the fact that their best friend would do that. They were hurt as a brand and company. If one of the owners of a company manages to abuse his power (it's pretty obvious that an affair with a subordinate breaches the code of conduct), it then places the other owners under fire. Bro, chill. There was no sexual abuse. Kevin Spacey has not been on SNL since his controversy. This is not MeToo, this is a boss having a workplace relationship with an employee.

@@michaeleldridge5640 That's really weird you think Ned is the one hurt by this scenario and not his wife and kids. They're friends with her as well.
@@horsegirlb7120 Ned is hurt, and his family is also hurt. But you shouldn't confuse peoples personal life with professional work. For them being friends, it was way too easy for them to kick him out of the company.
Fun fact- this sketch was written by Ned's friends from college!
wow, premium content as usual guys. i love the part where you literally didn't even watch the video and had someone else look it up on twitter and the summarize it for you before you wrote the script. honestly peak comedy right here folks, absolutely nothing better then pulling shit out of your ass and calling it a sketch, keep up the good work!
Isn’t pulling shit out of their asses and then putting it on the internet kind of the try guys’ entire thing? Lmao
Notice how your comment is high up because you used positive terms haha. TH-cam has been downranking negative sounding comments, but if you use positive terms you’ll be seen higher up. Just a little tip

I like how you got butthurt over a joke
@Miguel Alvarez by the way you nonchalantly type "people cheat", I wouldn't be surprised if you cheat as well.
I've never actually been mad over a snl video until now
