As a Montrealer it made me happy to see our downtown core looking alive again. My lifestyle doesn’t bring me there often anymore but boy oh boy do I have great memories; the shopping, movies, clubs and 5 a 7.
Dorchester Square was once a graveyard, and part of the cathedral's grounds about 200 years ago. I'm guessing that that is why it's a square today. Fifty four years ago the Dominion building was the highest in the immediate area. Today, we'll its not. Great videos. Always like to see the city and its life.
Beautiful introduction of this video at Dorchester Square , looks like a busy day out there & lovely to see that ....St Catherine looking very nice , thank you for an amazing walk , beautiful Montreal .

Here is another historical tidbit. .032 Dorchestor Sq is a stone hexagon building which can be found in old Montreal parks. They were referred to as “Hoodies” after Mayor Hood. He had them built as work projects during the depression and were public toilets. He was an interesting character. When late King George and Queen Elisabeth visited in the 30’s he was asked why he wasn’t wearing his mayor ceremonial chain. His reply “I only wear it on important occasions.” I think this was meant as an insult. 14:32 the building on the west side was a bank. I was walking by and got bumped by this guy coming out of the bank and limping. He apparently robbed the bank and was shot. The robbers came up from the States. At that time Montreal was the bank robbery capitol. In the 60’s was the Santa Claus bank robbery. They dressed as Santa Claus and when the police arrived the police were shot with machine guns.

I thought it was a rental building....interesting.
@@GermanKorb I could be wrong in confusing it for Marriott residence inn.
