I first became aware of Burghley House from the 1985 video series featuring Lady Victoria Leatham and John Julius Norwich. It appears that so much work has been done since that time. I'm glad to see the estate has been so well maintained.

This is without a doubt the prettiest estate she visited. Magnificent.

This is my new favorite show. I've been a Tudor "groupie" for years, but I stumbled upon Queen Victoria as a recommendation from a dear librarian. I don't know why, but I just find Victoria so interesting. From her self discovery of her royal future, her love of and her pursuit of Albert, to the way people loved her.
I'm so jealous of the two hosts! They are the perfect for the job they do on this show. It's so relaxing and uplifting, very refreshing. There are certainly enough places around England and Scotland that Victoria and company visited to make more than one season and I hope they do! 😊

I love this series! I can tell how many times I've watched it because it's been a show where I feel grounded. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and watching it gets my mind set back in the past. Anxiety is also a fear of the future. I only wish they, I mean Tim, Rosemary and Ivan could come back on a new show. They make a great team! Thank you for sharing the series. 🤗

Oh, to have a house worthy of a visit from the Queen! What a great story. That ginger bread is gorgeous. Can't believe, tho, that they are touching those old documents without appropriate gloves, and letting people actually wear the livery! Very well done. A nice balance of history and gossip ;o)

I knew Victoria and Albert were in love but it also seemed they liked each other. I loved my boyfriend of 33 1/2 years but more importantly we liked each other. He passed over 4 years ago from a stroke but I still love him and I still like him.

Turtle soup is still eaten here. Also fried turtle.....roasted turtle...etc. I had turtle once. I did not care for it. My brother was a great fisherman. He had a friend and ex music teacher that loved turtles so much he would drive 70 miles just one way to come get one if my brother got one. He would bring my brother a big bag of sweets.my brother was only about 10.

This is my favorite of the house s so far. But I must say the most organized household accounts I have seen are from President Jeffersons . I think if he had had more sons instead of daughters his family would still be very prominent both in landownership, science & politics. Unfortunately daughters didn't receive the same treatment back then. Not allowed to sit in on discussions after dinner ect. Different education etc, very sad.

The large "cat" swallowing the souls of sinners is what artists call 'The Hell Mouth", and it's got a long tradition. It is rather Catholic but artistes could get away with it. It comes in many varieties.
