The next time you are watching a reality show and some intrepid host is hanging off the side of a cliff or deep in a cave, remember that there is support staff with him on every foot of the trip, and they have much more equipment they have to juggle also.

You'd be surprised how much damage a filming crew can do even when they are careful. I live near a historical area that generates a lot of attention. They got permission to film back in the 70s , took precautions and were careful. Put plants back etc but the weight of the equipment made changes to the ground that couldn't be reversed.

    I can’t believe the antagonism towards the owners of so many of the comments . They had no obligation to permit any digging at all. And as Mrs Franklin said, the fear was that one trench would lead to another ad infinitum.

      This Mrs Franklin compared to another rich lady who wants to know where the palace has gone, the palace or castle to which once belonged the big big gatehouse in which she lives.... That lady, Penny, not only wanted Time Team to dig everything and everywhere what could help find the history, but also scraped away in the trenches like she was a member of the team herself. And a very passionate one too! 🎉😂❤

    • @guramile
      @guramile ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The palace was sold to various speculators in 1650, who tore it down for the materials and sold them for great profit...the privy donjon and the other stone structures. Much of the brick courts were left, but eventually moldered away.

    • @celtoloco788
      @celtoloco788 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guramile yeah, people dont realize the serious value in old building materials. Henry tore down the monestaries, partly to cement his own power, but mostly to steal all the lead off the roofs to fund his military.

    The rude way he snatched that brick without permission and then verbally cut off any input Mr Beric Morley the historian might add was poor form to say the least. Then not knowing metric dimensions of a Tudor brick deleted any confidence in his supposition, especially as it looked like he was approximating due to the obvious damage. Yes, very bothered, lol
