BTW, sometime the in past 20 years someone had put one or more coats of paint over the popcorn. This makes it really tough to get it off smoothly and neatly and we made more gouges than should have happened. If you have popcorn that has not been painted, you likely can do it in half the time with half the spackle and half the frustration.
Great makeover! I've seen a cool trick to keep the trim (or really any edge clean): after taping off where you are going to paint, paint over the tape and edges in the base color of the room before using your accent color. That way the line will stay clean and no accent color will seep through the tape - thus no touch ups! I'd like to know - I considered buying that exact West Elm duvet cover, but did you fill it with a super thin duvet or leave it as a coverlet on the bed? I like how thin and contemporary it looks like on the bed.

Staying here was everything and more! I don't think I mentioned it but having the outlets on top of each side table was super helpful. Didn't have to go searching for outlets....that little detail proves you thought about your guest experience. I loved the space and it was so inviting!!
Oh I did forget to mention the charging stations - thank you for bringing that up. I really did try to think what people would need in the space to not only make it pretty - but also functional. Can’t wait for you to come back!!! 😘
Jessica This makeover is so thoughtful!!! So many aspects of the decor has a story and I love it! Re: your painters tape seep under. I used Frog tape last project. It’s a game changer when you need to tape: A little pricier but worth every penny. You have such a flair for the dramatic, may I suggest next project try your curtain rod within 4-5” of the ceiling? Just pin the curtain temporarily and see what you think. If you find the curtain is too short you can always let the hem out or add a coordinating fringe to the bottom to reach the floor. It can really make a statement with your windows. I love the fluted lamp shades and the finial. You have exquisite taste!

I love the room Jessica, I use to thrift as a younger financially deficient college student! LOL...I bought an unfinished bookcase/shelf unit with 2 unfinished side tables and a coffee table...all for $150 bucks!!! Ananius still has the coffee table to this day! I sanded them all down with sanding paper and then stained them with a blackish oil of some kind LOL been a long time ago... A friend gifted me a gold kinda " tweedish" 7ft sofa and i found some baskets at a flea market in San Jose (I was living in Oakland CA at the time) I still have one of them...I loved putting things together and painting and thrifting, pulling and picking at all things fun and whimsical...My aunt who Elease is named after taught me that...I have the fondest memories! any way...Fantastic room top to bottom...Ananius' dad has the other pieces!
I started thrifting in college too! Mom and I went out to Jamie’s flea market and I bought a chair - painted it, reupholstered it - and I had it in my dorm for all 4 years. We did a lot of garage sales when I was much younger - but once I got into college realized I can buy something with good bones for cheap and turn it into something that fit my style….and budget. And I’ve been that way ever since! Love that we have that in common! 😘

I wasn’t sure if I was going to fully commit to the window as the “dividers” are inside the window pane so I knew those couldn’t be changed. Ultimately I want all of the windows painted black but we have to figure out what to do with those decorative “dividers” first! 😆

I suggested you paint the trim your favorite color. The doors already had black handles and hinges. We picked the right color for the trim.
