    Although I have been using PrusaSlicer 2.6.0 throughout the beta and alphas, I wanted to wait for the final release to cover the updates. Well the wait is over and the long awaited release has dropped. I decided to go over my 10 favorite new features in this massive release. In this video we will take a look at my favorites along with some tips on how to use them.

    Another feature of the cut tool that I don't see many people talking about, but is essential for isolating features. If the cut plane crosses the model in multiple places, you can right click on the parts that cross the plane that you don't want to cut off. This makes cutting extremities off of complicated figures easier.

      @ChristopherElliottSembazuru I came to the comments solely to mention this missing feature. Ya beat me to it :o)

      Thanks for sharing, sounds like a brilliant feature, I use Lychee for my resin printers and the planer tool in that is basically useless past the most basics. Really hope Lychee will one day let me put blockers on their planer cut, but for now Blender will fix my cutting issues.

    Holy heck, I've never been one to fawn over updates, especially when I have to use multiple slicers depending on which feature I want to use (you know the struggle), but damn… organic supports, (semi)automatic alignment keys when cutting, dynamic overhang speeds (which feels like the most obvious extension of bridging settings), klipper support, so much more… really happy to maybe finally find that one slicer that has all the features I want in one place :)
    (not saying it's perfect for everybody, of course, but you know how it is, after a couple years of printing you kinda learn what features you personally need for your workflow, and having to go "well, I want Cura's tree supports, but I can't cut the model in Cura so I guess I'll have to work with Blender first, and should I do the alignment pins in Blender while I'm at it or use Meshmixer for that…", y'know, stuff like that)

    Glad you mentioned the klipper addition. Not many are talking about it. I have been using superslicer due to the klipper integration but since there haven't been any updates to superslicer for some time, I'm thinking I'll be using prusa slicer from here on out.

    If they would just add more combing mode support (they call it "avoid crossing perimeters" I think, but it's pretty basic), and follow the standard of right-click rotates the camera view angle (or at least give the option to customize), I'd probably switch to Prusa Slicer exclusively! Tree supports was a huge addition though, and I'll be using it quite a bit more than Cura now.

    It's not a biggie like most of the gear we have gotten

    Filament Settings - Filament Properties - Shrinkage
    It is in SuperSlicer and a few other slicers
    Makes it easier just having this set.

    Rofl this felt so surreal. I've been using BambuSlicer for about 9 months now. So many of these "new" features were already integrated into BambuSlicer that I was honestly shocked the PrusaSlicer community hasn't been enjoying these features before now. I'm so used to them they felt very commonplace. However, I also went from Cura to Bambu, so that probably contributed as well.

    • @georgestone8099
      @georgestone8099 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I thought since Bambu Studio is a fork of PrusaSlicer, all that stuff would already be in prusaslicer. Surprised to see it's just getting tree supports.

    • @darththuban00
      @darththuban00 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you two misunderstood this. The tree supports and all the functionality he mentioned here where already in PS, the fact is there were in the alpha, beta, etc. versions and not the "stable" one. I used the alpha ver a couple of months ago, and in fact was really stable.

    Ive used the new cut tool to add connectors to a piece, and saved it to 3mf file. But I've now realised, after printing the first half, that I should have holes as connector on both side, for easier prints. However, I don't see how I can modify the cuts after reopenning the .3mf file, despite prusa seeing the connectors and recognizing them. Do you know how I can achieve that?

It shows 'ERROR: A toolpath outside the print area was detected" until it completes the slicing. Also, if the arrange function is used to rearrange the objects, the slicer simply crashs! @Raycefan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModBotArmy Cura. It’s terrible for way more than just the UI. It’s like the difference between Apple phones and Samsung phones. Apple (Cura) does the same thing as Samsung (PrusaSlicer), but it’s FAR easier and requires less tinkering. Cura seems tailored for a much wider user base. PrusaSlicer, I’m my experience, is in a word, tedious to use, where Cura is much more straightforward. PrusaSlicer also, in my experience, turns out different results, (meaning the finished print itself), with the same settings based on the printer you’re using. Cura has always given me consistently the same results with the same settings no matter the printer I use. Don’t even get me started on how over priced all of Prusa’s printers are when they’re all just clones of Creality machines.

    • @Armor3dprinting
      @Armor3dprinting ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Raycefan idk as someone who primarily used cura i would find the settings to be just fine, however, i have noticed a DRASTIC improvement in print quality by switching over to PrusaSlicer, also the slicing time is way faster with PS vs Cura, and i get in my opinion a better option to switch between printer profiles and custom gcodes. i happily made the switch over to PS. i also used SuperSlicer a little ways back but it doesnt seem like its being updated anymore.

    • @Raycefan
      @Raycefan ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm beginning to have a hard time calling this a "slicer". The quality of included tools can rival some of the best CAD software. Mark my words, 10 years from now these slicers will have evolved into a one-stop solution for both designing and printing, while the obnoxiously expensive and client-extorting CADs will become redundant and pointless for 3d printing, wishing they weren't so shortsighted in their greed as the whole world begins to 3d print.
