One of the most beautiful bikes ever made……stunning. My son has one which is stunning, but at my age riding it for any distance nearly kills me. Definitely a younger guys bike. Don’t ever sell it, huge future classic that will always be lovely to look at, all be slightly more painful to ride as you get older, but bollox! Keep it and enjoy!👍
Haha yes the position is definitely one to get used to 😂 I don't think I'll ever sell it. Everyone I've spoken to who had one has said its their biggest regret selling it!
That's how I bought it. 19 yrs stock, I'm currently fixing it, I hope I can do it quickly, I'm just having a hard time finding the parts that need to be replaced.
Still the most beautiful bike of all time. I had the touring version 4s with the 998 engine and it seemed to have an elastic engine which never seemed to run out of power. I saw 165 on the clock with two panniers and a top box and it still pulled.
@@SamVBikes A lot smoother than it sounds too. I had the 1100s monster and bought the 4s as a 2 owner used bike for a bit of 2 up touring. It had a few dings on it and cost me less than 2K. I took it out for a quick blast in the middle of winter, on a dark road. Completely surprised by just how smooth, civilised and fast it was. It wasn’t as pretty as the 916, but it gave a sense of its character. Loved that bike, but even in touring guise it hurt my neck and it had a few issues including rotted wiring and overheating. Still have a soft spot for it.
Classics rock! I've got a red 2003 BMWr1100s with a Remus exhaust. Beautiful to ride, sounds great and with an underseat exhaust and single sided swingarm is the Bavarian 916!!
Love the sound of these L-twins, plus that dry-clutch rattle. A customer at a bar I once worked at, used to visit on his 996 - just looking at it got me into wanting a bike. Did a 200 mile round trip on my Ninja last week, and I certainly could feel it after!
1 min in.. Good luck.. lol I have a 999 .. I love it but takes some getting use to... People make comments about these old bike.. BUT.. its the sound and the feel from ownership..
The clutch is hard work in traffic. But if I am going into town I just put on a little choke.. I love it as I am sure you love yours so that's all that counts...
Hi Sam, I own a 96 Yamaha thunderace and love the fact it has no mod cons. All down to you the rider in my opinion the best way to ride and makes you a better rider 💯. Love your work and keep having fun 🏍😊👏
Beaut bike! That's exactly it pal, there's definitely some creature comforts which are nice but it's such a great experience riding a bike with nothing to help you! No electronic throttle or anything
first time on your channel ... people always slated ducati's when i first started riding bikes but you could always tell deep down they wanted one ! and that twenty odd year old bike looks fast ... stood still ... and as for the electronic add ons ... you don't seem too be missing them ... enjoy.
Definitely in the top-3 of best looking bikes ever made! Design-wise, I consider the early to mid 90's to be the golden age of motorcycle design. And if I'm not mistaken, the end cans are Termignoni carbon cans (with the stickers removed), which gives it that oh so lovely sound. :) The 916 is a close second of my favorite bikes of all times, with the RC30 in the top spot, no contest!
100% agree with that. The 90s bikes were utterly gorgeous things! Yes I believe they are Termis. Stickers come off easily but the weave, bad welds, exhaust hangers and noise points towards them being Termignoni! So even better!
@@Rapidfireblade Congratulations! If it makes you feel any better, this died on me the other day 😂 reg rec being replaced, new battery and stator on the way
Nice one. I lusted after those in the 1990s but couldn't afford one back then. I rode a 748 SP back in 1999, it was bloody amazing. Still, I don’t reckon I could handle the riding position now. Youth is wasted on the young!
Yeah, not joking. Do it, mate. And look after your health. It goes downhill rapidly after your mid '40s. Luckily I've always done plenty of sport so I've managed to keep relatively fit, which is important if you're going to ride fast bikes. But there's no way I could do half the stuff I used to. Here's a 916 story for you. Back in '99 I went on an organised trip bybthe Ducati owners' club from Girona to the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. It was 730 km along the length of the Pyrenees in one day. We spent the weekend in Bilbao and saw an amazing exhibition of classic bikes at the museum. We also met one of the bigwigs of the Ducati race team staff, who obviously knew Carl Foggarty really well. This French dude rode down from Perpignan, and did the trip on his 916 SP. He ended up dancing the weekend away, so he was none the worse for wear. So, theoretically, you can actually tour on those things... 🤔
The 916 is my favourite , i was at a reposetion auction off motorcycle back when these where new and was bidding on a 1month old 916sps with only 200miles on the clock, being unformilliar with ducatis at the time i only bidded up to 9k as the only other bidder just kept going but i soon found out why after some research ! It still pains me to this day every time i see one 😢
Remembering picking mine up ,,from having a blade and hit a corner and it dropped over like a stone the steering rake is steep on them ,took a bit of time to get used to it
Great bike mate, love it! It's so much fun and I wish I could ride sports bikes, it's achingly beautiful! The Marchesini wheels must make a huge difference in acceleration due to the low rotational mass.
@@SamVBikes this morning it was a CCM Maverick, I can't even keep up with myself as that 2 bikes in one day! Thank God I haven't got the space or the money! If I had a regular salary I would be far more dangerous to my wallet! 😂😂

The best looking bike ever made in my opinion. They are like a piece of art. 👍
The more I look at it.. the more I'm in love!
I’ve just bought the Tamiya 916 kit which I’ll get to in due course. Definitely art. Now, should I do the standard red, or the Senna version ?
And the best orchestra
Love the bike brings back so many memories. I had one in 2002 and rode it to Misano World Ducati Week with just a rucksack now that was a trip 😊👍🏻👍🏻
