Very fun comparison. Im always a fan of looking at titles from a modern lens, historical lens, and retrospective lens all at once.

I do enjoy coming to these bitesized chunks of older Yesterzine episodes. I forgot theyd been scored a mere 1% apart!

Yeah, I still think I'm right on that one, he just wanted to indicate "Better". I think if reviewed months apart Lambo gets more of a kicking.

I have fond childhood memories of playing Crazy Cars 3 on my Amiga. And terrifying childhood nightmares of playing Crazy Cars 1 and 2 on my Commodore 64.

Yeah, as much as it gets a slight kicking here there's absolutely no comparison to the mess that is the first 2, on any format.

I barely ever played this, but I have a lot of nostalgia for it, regardless. I remember getting the DOS version for my 5th birthday at a Discovery Zone (which was basically a big indoor playground). I'm pretty sure I never understood how to actually PLAY it, but I still hold a fondness.
By the way, did you know if you plug in a Super Scope you get an entirely new gameplay mode? That's cool.

Not until someone else mentioned it in the comments. Looks like it wasn't fully formed but is probably a laugh. I don't own a superscope sadly.

Lamborghini American Challenge was VERY heavily pushed in the US. I remember seeing ads for it almost every month in the Electronics Boutique circulars. However, I never played it since I only briefly had a SNES. Looks like I didn't miss much.

I can believe it. You probably did miss something at the time, especially 2 years earlier on Amiga but yeah, it's not like there's a lack of competition in these things.

You inspired me to do a couple google searches, and made me realize for the first time that Top Gear the games and the TV show are totally unrelated. Even in the 90s, or at least the 2000s when I was only somewhat interested in cars and obssessed with games, i had some kind of idea they were related at least by name use, like the game using the name of the TV show to draw in players. Or maybe i connected them later on, either way, only now realizing they are totally unrelated is weird and confusing, especially since Kemco did have a license of some kind. Either way i remember liking the SNES and PS1/Rally games a bit and the hand held editions iirc. Test Drive/Vrally being the other stand out dead franchise racing game that comes to mind.

Yeah, that's why if you see it these days legally, for instance those Piko packs, it's now "Top Racer". The BBC spotted it. I'm guessing given Top Gear wasn't remotely as popular in 1993 it kinda skated under their radar. I don't think there was any licence, I think Kemco just didn't know.
Test Drive isn't dead as such either, there's a new one early next year.

8:49 Sure you could get a piko evercade orrrrrrrrr you could. Just emulate it on any handheld made in the last decade.😊

If we go down that road I'm saying it 5 times a video :D I think everyone knows you can do that now although I'm testing that theory in a video for Big Red Arrow Club soon.

That was a delightful video... and some dodgy game design!

      It feels weird doesn't it?

Superscope mode ignored? Also my favorite in the series is the very odd top gear 3000.

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  ปีที่แล้ว

Did not know about that mode but also I'd have no means to test it. Top Gear 3000 is I believe unrelated to the Lotus games, it's one of those things I was waiting to get a real copy to play but given the price I should probably get over that.

@@Yesterzine It actually took a code to get to the super scope mode on Lambo. It's really just a fun joke sorta thing where you blow the opponents off the road.
My favorite way to play super scope games these days is on an upscaled Wii, actually. SNES emulators on PC still have super scope support via mouse as well, but I'd rather the real lightgun feel.
