  • In this video I show you all the tools I carry in my Jeep, the Scorpion Crawler. This is EVERYTHING I carry in my tool bag for repairs, trail fixes, breaks, etc. After that I'll show you what I carry in the truck incase the worst happens. In there I have pretty much everything to fix a drivetrain problem like a broken axleshaft, driveshaft, or ring and pinion. I dont always carry all of those tools but its a must when you spend so much time and money towing your jeep all the way across the country like I did recently on the #TrailToSEMA

Glad to see I am not the only guy that carries half his shop with him. Either my boat or trucks seem to have all kinds of gadgets. Good material. I use my Jeep for getting deep into the woods, but usually on trails. Not rock crawling. It is for hunting season really mostly but also fishing in summer. I am not a mechanic either. I carry the toolkit and spares that for my skill level. I also carry CAA card and cash. Given I do not put my Jeep in deep trouble (knowing I can’t fix it) and keep up with maintenance and inspections (mechanical) at least 2 if not 3 times a year, I have been OK so far. I did pick up lots of pointers from your setup, I will use them. Thank you for sharing.

Living out west, you can never be to prepared as you could be 100 miles to nowhere and days without seeing another person. I recommend carrying some emergency food like MRE type foods, electrolyte powder drink, hard candies, jerky, protein bars, aluminum foil, matches and lighter. I replace the food every spring. Always carry a blanket. I also take a rain fly off an old tent. Great if you have to lay in mud or snow fixing something, emergency shelter, and it takes up no space and light weight.
As for tools, I didn't see a mini torch and solder. I always have 100' of 1" nylon rope with me. I have used that so much!! I would also recommend a sawzall 😉 or atleast a hacksaw.

A hack for the toilet paper. If you cover the round side and bottom with duct tape and then remove the center cardboard tube you can "unreel" the TP from the inside. It keeps its shape a lot better and is much more durable. The center also doubles as a place to stash a small bottle of hand sanitizer or baby powder.

I got you beat. My Jeep ends up being almost a tool truck and part store. I won't carry gears though, i'll get a tow before I setup gears anywhere but home. I drive my Jeep to the trail, beat on it, then drive home at least 50 miles depending on where I'm at. I should start carrying hub assemblies though. I break a lot of those and the drive home sucks when they are busted.
I carry 3/8 and 1/2 drive impact sockets of all sizes, air impacts and a ratchet, tire deflators, plugs and gauge, axles, winch gear and straps, breaker bars, u joints, fire extinguisher, driveshaft for front and rear is same length, tie rod assembly already aligned(ish), fluids, cooler... The on board air is great, makes it easy to get more tools, and air tools are cheaper and can get wet compared to electric.
It's even worse when I go camping

You mentioned spare r&p for the D44s you have. My understanding, you have a TJ front D44, probably a Rubicon version, and a rear XJ D44. I had thought the TJ D44 was a crush sleeve setup to the pinion whereas the XJ D44 rear would be shim setup. You pinion would be able to accept either for its setup?
