I did not, unfortunately. Honestly, I was too embarrassed to take it to my luthier. I would be spending more money on this instrument than I want. Also I did not want my luthier to make fun of me! lol My advice to you, is to support your local violin/cello shop and luthier. Every decent sized city has one. They would be more than willing to help you on your string musical journey! I would not be anywhere today without the great relationship I have made with my local luthiers!
@KatieTheCellist that is ideal! But would they have something this affordable? I have two small children and I *know* they'd also be playing around with it (as they do with my guitar lol). So I don't want to *best* I can get at this time, especially as a beginner. I also don't want something that sounds horrible, either though
I husband just got this for our son who is a freshman in HS. Do you think this is something he can use at that level as we are currently renting one for him
I would use this instrument as a back up, not as a primary instrument for performance or audition. I would continue to rent-to-own a nice instrument if the student is full size.
@ I know my husband was trying to get out of the whole renting as if we rent for 2 yrs we can technically purchase it I think. I will let him know what you said. Our eldest hasn’t even put it together yet but I know he is excited to at least see how it plays.
I am definitely a novice to instruments, and I have been wanting to play the cello since I was a kid. Thanks for the review of the company, I was looking at them a few weeks ago. If the bridge is too high, do i need to buy a replacement or have something to sand it down?
The bridge will need to be cut down to fit the instruement. So I'll have to take this cello to a luthier. But I'm kinda of embarassed to take this instrument to a luthier, honestly! If I were you, I would find a local luthier in your town and they can help you find your instrument!
Thank you! Did you end up modifying the bridge? If there's a vid, I'd love to see it! I want to be a beginner 😁
