@@concretedog7427 The trick you taught me is using the Unwrap Mesh feature in the Mesh Workbench to create a vector outline. That is a clever way to do so, and it would have saved me time if I had known of it before. I now officially owe you a beverage of your choice. ;-) Through my profession, I have used and trained in most commercial CAD packages, mostly Rhino 3D and Fusion 360. For the past five years, I have fully migrated to FreeCAD. This transition taught me a lot. For instance, FreeCAD's open-source nature has allowed for greater customization to suit my needs. I don't regret the switch an inch (25.4 mm) ;-) I am behind the @Stemfie3D construction set toy I created using FreeCAD, Blender, and Inkscape.
It's a great project. A very similar system in the former GDR, "Vero Construc" was one of my favourite Toys during my childhood years. This system hadn't beams, but blue cubes. With this cubes it was possible to create beams from braces. The braces were made from wood. What do you think about make braces from lasercuttet wood. I think it would be more efficient (less plastic and time) to make the braces this way instead of printing 3D.
I like the pace of your tutorials
This excellent tutorial taught me a FreeCAD feature I didn't know of before. Thank you! :)
So glad it was useful! Out of interest which bit was the feature you hadn't heard of?
