      @@pankulka9927 its not Damon's fault tho. if the reporter hadn’t brought the conversation up, he wouldn’t have why to talk about it… Jamie was just over the interview itself, we dont know what happened before and this interviewer is known to be annoying af and Damon is a pretty vocal on his views. Why are you saying he's morphing into Billy Bragg? He seems to be for being in EU but I agree that Brexit was simply early to splitting from EU. I think England is still in Europe and it's people will always travel and English heritage has a value. But the poor in most countries are beung neglected. That kind of Thatcherism hasn't ended. It's ironic that people who leave home countries, see their country differently. Better to decide if you leave, leave and move on. We are all visitors on planet earth.

      There were plenty of skinny and starving children in the UK before the Labour Party won a landslide in 1945. You should get some education.

    • @Iazzaboyce
      @Iazzaboyce 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, there was 'skinny and starving' people in the past, as a direct consequence of the 'free market economy' you seem to think will solve these problems. Before Labour was in a position to do anything (1945) five evils were identified: want, disease, ignorance, squalor and idleness. Labour policies were for full employment, welfare state, national health service, education and decent housing. That's why the working class are no longer 'skinny and starving' and have better health, housing, and education. Rich people do not tend to give money to others (which is how they get rich), but they always need to exploit others to get that money. Today's problems in NHS funding, high unemployment, underemployment levels, wage compression, unaffordable rents/mortgages, tuition fees, cuts in welfare, zero hours contracts.... These things should be making you think we're going back to 'skinny and starving' people.

How can you say the difference is the middle class comfortable of society. More people chose to leave. To say that people should protest, get out onto the streets etc. You cannot do that EVER. It completely poo poos on voting and it will not end well. How close a vote is means nothing. More people wanted out. Whether it's by 1 vote or a million means nothing.

    I'm old enough to remember life in the UK outside the EEC/EU and I voted Leave because I have seen the British working class become progressively worse off. Before the UK joined the EU a single unskilled wage could keep a family and buy a home. Today both parents have to work, need Tax Credits and cant buy a home.

      Perhaps not, but we're being told now that 'Corbyn wants to take us back to the 1970s'... I remember the 1970s and working class people were much better off... Rent for a council house was a day's wage and that included water charges and council tax. Unemployment was much lower and the term 'long term unemployed' had not been invented. A job meant 40+ hours a week and the term 'job for life' was commonplace. A single unskilled wage could keep a family and buy a house. Wives worked for 'pin money' University education was free. A British citizen owned half the economy. Public transport was more affordable. Coal, gas, electricity and petrol was more affordable. Those are the real reasons the wealthy don't want to go back to the 1970s!

    Ha so you didn't want division but then proceed to divide the vote into age groups because your fellow citizens had the audacity to choose an outcome you didn't like through a (truly) once in a generation referendum... Theoretical analysis of voters colour class intelligence or education is merely an elite horrified to discover their world view isn't shared north of Watford. Being lectured by rich musicians like Bob Geldof or Damien Albarn on lefty C4 and then going back to their privileged lives is hard to stomach. Interestingly l bet these pontifications didn't get extended to the Macron victory where the analysis showed the younger demographic wanted a change to the right. BTW Brexit wasn't about isolationism it was actually about looking beyond the real isolationists, the EU itself and another myth is that only racists voted for Brexit, five years on from Brexit it looks like the true racism is against anybody white and the neo fascists of the woke movement.

      Nailed it brilliantly.Albarns analysis of the Brexit voter is ludicrous.Watching C4 ludicrous bias is also eye opening.

    it never fails to amaze me that people take the opinions of celebrities ( if they like or admire the music, or at least respect the talent, intelligence or skill that made it!!) as an authorative insight on the issue. Damon has never lived with, or experienced himself, the unfortunate economic circumstances that lead poorer people to vote Brexit, and yet he is so eager to dismiss rather pompusly and with massive generalisations and media invented stereotypes, millions of decent and concerned Brits that voted that way!! the incomprehension and misunderstanding of peeps like Damon just go to show what utterly different realities the working and middle classes experience in the UK.I wouldn't want an airline pilot to perform heart bypass surgery on me although I admit the pilot is very skilled!! its just he is specialized in one area so I think Damon should stick to music!! and stop patronizing the working class!!

      Music and art can have political undertones. Their past work had such elements too. Also, people should be able to have shifting views about things and for those views to show up in their work.
      The only issue would be if they have a bigger platform and take away chances from those with smaller spaces to speak their voice.
      So, in that sense, I could agree with you, but it's not that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have that much power, as it may seem.
      Personally, I still have mixed feelings about that album they're talking about (Humanz), but it doesn't mean we can't dig out some interesting information and discussions from it, or that it fails to be "in touch" in its entirety.

    Hmmm is he not ‘comfortable’ does he just scrape through every month? I’m 25 and voted leave, the reason why most the areas outside of London, Birmingham etc voted leave was because the areas have less Europeans in them. The areas that voted stay are highly multi cultured and it would benefits them more to stay 🤷🏻‍♂️
