It must be fascinating to just sit next to Damon and listen to him talking about music a whole afternoon. I would love that and I wouldn't get tired of it.
Finally, an interview with Damon of substance. Not a big promo of a record, but an intimate conversation about what music has inspired who he is. Nice to get inside of his head.
Honestly as a French folk fond of English culture, and especially English music, it always breaks my heart when I go to England and meet English people of my generation(I'm 22), they aren't able to satisfy my curiosity in terms of music, what delight would it be to spend an afternoon with Damon sharing our music taste, and learning more about English culture, what it means to be 'British', especially that English melancholy he was talking about, and I'll be glad to share my take on what it means to be 'French'.
Faick LOG England has lost a lot of its interest in terms of the quality of the music that is being produced. I guess Damon would totally agree that you could not find anything more English than the Kinks and especially Waterloo Sunset. Pink Floyd sang : hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.... I guess that"s the way English people sée themselves. Unfortunately, Simon Cowell and people like him have managed to kill off any sign of creativity. Try to befriend old people (guys who were young in the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s, gping from The Who to Bowie, to The Happy Mondays and to Goldfrapp. You'll have a much more expanded view.
@@sergiootaegui The cover of Demon Days looks good amongst other albums because it sort of looks like 4 solo albums within 1 album cover, which is surrounded by other albums. It's kind of recursive/meta in this way.
They are all his work, Parklife, Dr dee, Demon Days and Rocket Juice And The Moon. I'm sure you know this, but just in case you don't. It's hard to keep up with Damon's work, there's a lot of it.
Damn, when I was young and playing in a band myself (being quite a Blur fan), I had the chance to work for one week in what must have been one of the best sorted private musical archives for folk music of all kind in Europe. One might also say World Music. God knows, I was way too wrapped up in pop music and far too ignorant at that time to truly appreciate it. A chance missed, I suppose.
He makes mistakes all the time. He didn't this time. But he is known to give opinions of his that are wrong or sells his ideology as fact. I don't care anyway. Musicians are always like that, and he aint that bad of a case, unlike taylor swift or others.

This dude definitely has a bag of sunshine.
Damon's musical influences are rather interesting
How cool would it be to sit for hours with Damon sharing and exchanging music tastes? ♥
i could probably watch an hour or two of this
Ah, such a lovely voice.

She has the perfect radio voice.
Thanks to Damon I always explore something new... Thanks to his ultimate music knowledge
He knows his music.
I would love to have Damon select some records for me to buy.
This is a brilliantly photographed and edited piece.

You can see how the artists he listened to effected his music
She loves him....and so do we.

Damon!!! He’s amazing. This is a great video!
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
@6:40 I love that Demon Days is on the top of the shelf

Zonophone records was active from 1902 to mid 20s. moatly shellac. not even sure radio france was already existing by then.
he asks for 'zonophone' label and they took him to the 'virgin'? I dont get it.
Because when the guy ask him if it's a song, or what kind of music it is, he just repeat zonophone and spell it.

Awesome
what is the fela Kuti song at the beginning?

Damon se trompe à la fin quand dit que Burt Bacharach était un bon parolier. Qui écrivait les paroles étaient Hal David.
