its a resource sink. thats why it seems backwards to you. the people that have tons of resources and no patience will dump a bunch of resources into the new widget thus creating a feedback loop of grinding/playing auction house. these loops are terrible for new players because obtaining the ability to reach all content is insufferable at best
There has been plenty of time to gather insignia powder since they announced mythic insignias, I already have enough insignia powder to upgrade all 15 to mythic. People just want everything to be easy and given to them
The most AD I've ever had was 9 mil. And that was because I got a cold iron warrior and managed to sell it. Which was spent in getting 1 companion to mythic for 2 of my alternative accounts.
Once tradebars started coming in boxes, value of tradebars has dropped a ton once the market flooded and remained. This is to drive demand in the TB store, by making epic insignias profitable. They will be the go to for powder, thus driving demand for lockboxes. Scrolls will become scarce lol u are right, it is not sustainable with current supply and incoming powder.

For contacts that's a 1500 lockboxes each given you 25 Insignia powder to do your entire library from legendary to Mythic and at the growing rate of a dollar each you start to understand where they're going
I agree. They'll give more bang for your buck but also it will cost you your entire set of insignias 15 times over to get all mythics. And you also can't just upgrade your current insignias you'll have to swap them out. Suddenly changing around one insignia bonus costs you 7.5mil AD. They need to make powder way easier to get.
@@Silv3ry for example if you want ti swap out a glad guile for an assasins covenant, it will cost you substantially more to get the full possible ammount as you will have to get or trade whole new insignias for em and if you sell via the AH thats a 10% loss. ohh i see what you mean. yeah, swapping bonuses once you have mythic ones will really suck. maybe you could trade with someone 1:1, but technically if you want to swap anything (r15 enchants for example), you will take a loss from selling :shrug:
As you mentioned it's not so much the amount needed as the fact there's no real way to grind power. Same with legendary shards for collars. I expected leg shards to become more common drops from something, but they never did. My theory behind this was from when es6 were a million each from t9g then codg happened. We will have to see...
I would LOVE LOVE getting 50 powder from a dungeon chest! It's already a seemingly impossible hill to climb to get enough powder to upgrade collars, and there's only 5 of those, and I started at purple. FIFTEEN mythic insignias at almost the same price powder-wise is crazy. The lockbox has 25 as a rare reward but that's not nearly enough quantity or frequency wise.
So, coming from Star Trek Online, I can say that Cryptic/PWE are at least consistent in their catering to Whales, to the detriment of everybody else. Add to that the same obsession with cramming a bunch of PUGs into random content and my very recent impulse to try out my old characters (circa Mod 13) is already fading. Just trying to learn the current meta is starting to feel less like a game and more like a job. Great video. I like to see the drawbacks, as well as the positives, in any new venture. I'll consider this bit of information while I continue to try out Neverwinter.

Do the Devs even play this game? Playing this game is way more than a chore, I had a friend come play this game and after a month they quit when they learnt about all the insane grinding they will have to do to reach endgame. Playing Neverwinter could not only break your bank but your Back too!

While I agree in theory with what you say here, the whole account wide mounts idea was based on money. Those mounts only come if you pay. After 2 characters if you want a new character you have to buy character slots. Mo money, mo money, GD more money. Unfortunately this is a cash grab. Insignia powder is now dropping from lock boxes, at 25 when it is given. How many do you need to open then for 2500 powder? GD cash grab.
I do like it when there is a bonus for players who are in it for the long haul. So I think of this sort of thing as something the players who switch games every 6 months or so are never going to have, unless they dump a ton of cash, which I'm ok with because that means they are supporting everyone who is going the free to play route, and at the end of the day, the game developers have to go home with a paycheck.
Yea, when I saw the big 2 5 0 0 cost, it felt like hitting a brick wall... at full speed... head first. XD Anyway, with the mod22 stat rework it's also good to keep in mind that the higher your total item level, the bigger the absolute gap is from the 10% difference in item level and combined rating of your gear (except rings, they have different %). For example, 10% of 10 = 1, whereas 10% of 1400 = 140.
during mod 19 i met so many new players, i thought the game was heading in a good direction, but the amount of grind and rng involved in mod 20 has made most of them left... heck even veterans are jumping ship :/
Mod 19 was already the beginning of the end, dungeon reward change started the horrendous RNG/grind rat race by making companion and mounts super rare, baiting players with leg mounts in chests but at a terrible drop rate, "premium" currency at very little quantity when you need tons (comp/mount tokens, the collar things), and then the redeemed citadel, needing super high quantities of favor for anything and very low drops on lures and items from these lures
I stockpiled ad, bought astral lockboxes (yes about 1600 of them), and bought insignias for tbars, and converted to powder. I am absolutely gonna beast my barbie out. Did it without spending real money, just ad.

Feels now a days its a game for 5 % people who just keep running same thing over and over again and have the time and tenacity to do so, to get the best items, and the rest of the population just comes and goes. So less than 4 mio AD per mythic insgnia if bought from the AH. That means a good player (earning at least 1 mio per day) will get about 2 insignias per week to mythic. So about 2 months to get all 15 insignias to mythic.

Just another grind to influence you to spend Zen to speed up the process. I find it a waste of my time so I ignore the signias unless a good quality one falls in my lap. I stopped doing crafting in this game after I had spent millions of AD to train and upgrade my craftsmen and tools only to have Cryptic flush it down the toilet. I am looking at switching over to Baldur's Gate III to spend my gaming money on. Neverwinter WAS fun but it has become a money pit and the fun to dollar ratio has been dropping a lot.

its always been like this, there is always something ridiculously long to achieve. Its nothing new and as always been like it, it is for people for make a lot of AD and people should not mind much since it not important especially in scaled content so 95% of the game.
Well, you can pick up a few greens from the explorer kits (nature, religion, etc) but at 2 insignia powder per green...yeah....nope sauce on that one. I've heard of one person in my entire alliance focused on mythic insigs. One. And it's not me. All mine are legendary, but there's just no way I'll get to mythic in my lifetime. I've got 6 toons (no bard, waiting for Monk). I'm way ahead of average, but since I don't 'do well figuring out the gear in this game, I'm a below average player. Go me.
i think im okay with it....theres not very many things in the game that give it a top end to grind for like other mmos have, NW feels like it gives a lot of easy rewards and this willbring it up to a point of not being too much of a handout
me and my friend we are a new players with just 3 months playing this game and i cant tell that this game is to FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, or just go and use real cash like my friend and get a LOT of all good stuff players who pay real $ get a lot of items that players that DONT use $, me & my friend start playing the same day but he pay for VIP and also Zen, he already have 10 mythic mounts & 10 very good companions alose have ALL insignias in mythic, he open a lot of lockboxes and get good stuff there now in the other side me, well, i just get my 2 legendary insignia, i have 2 legendary mounts just 3 epic companions, I'm struggling to get moren then 1.5million AD, and can´t opend ANY of my 1300 lockboxes that i have at the end of the day the game is like this you pay, you can have good stuff you dont pay, you have to GRIND for months or years to get a chance to get some good stuff i think that the lockboxes should be free to open to everybody but if you have vip you can get some other stuff

They just need to make insignia powder more attainable. Like dropping Leg Insignias in master dungeons or something like that.
Or they can atleast make green insignias drop like the black pearls seem to.
They could make this a lot more cost effective by getting rid of insignia powder and just using more refinement points.
I don't think insignia powder should be craftable but they need to increase the drop rate in dungeons and trials
Maybe its just me, but I noticed that blue insignias started to drop more frequently. From mobs, dungeon bosses and stuff. Playing on PS4
I believe it should be craftable. That would put more emphasis on crafting. Allow us to make a blue insignia for 25 gold.

i will be trying new world at some point, i've been following it for quite some time though i haven't gone too in-depth into learning about it.

I've heard of one person in my entire alliance focused on mythic insigs. One. And it's not me. All mine are legendary, but there's just no way I'll get to mythic in my lifetime. I've got 6 toons (no bard, waiting for Monk). I'm way ahead of average, but since I don't 'do well figuring out the gear in this game, I'm a below average player. Go me.
i think im okay with it....theres not very many things in the game that give it a top end to grind for like other mmos have, NW feels like it gives a lot of easy rewards and this willbring it up to a point of not being too much of a handout
me and my friend we are a new players with just 3 months playing this game and i cant tell that this game is to FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, FARM, FARM FARM, or just go and use real cash like my friend and get a LOT of all good stuff
players who pay real $ get a lot of items that players that DONT use $, me & my friend start playing the same day but he pay for VIP and also Zen, he already have 10 mythic mounts & 10 very good companions alose have ALL insignias in mythic, he open a lot of lockboxes and get good stuff there
now in the other side me, well, i just get my 2 legendary insignia, i have 2 legendary mounts just 3 epic companions, I'm struggling to get moren then 1.5million AD, and can´t opend ANY of my 1300 lockboxes that i have
at the end of the day the game is like this
you pay, you can have good stuff
you dont pay, you have to GRIND for months or years to get a chance to get some good stuff
i think that the lockboxes should be free to open to everybody but if you have vip you can get some other stuff
~80m or so, maybe slighly more
