MiniITX with 7000 is a huge risk. Even in a ventilaed case builders are careful not to use anything except eco settings . In a small case if you end up using Eco65w rather than eco105w then GN says you just wasted money

now i really dont know what to do...i have a i5 8400 and a 1060 6gb...i usually upgrade every 3 years...wanted to upgrade when 3000 droped but you know...now i was waiting for new amd everything to upgrade (7000 and 7000) but now that i see pricing and everything it doesnt make sense now...but buying new components late next year after i went for 5000 now doesnt sit well with me...with am5 i would be kinda future proof for a while but the early adopter price tag is kinda harsh. while the other problem is that the 5800x3d isnt that cheap also :( but i would save a buck on mb and ram...pls send help (only a gamer/ with vr also for info)

this is a new socket and a new series of CPUs at the same time. 3 months or so and we will start seeing the budget friendly boards come out. DDR5 is still probably going to cost a lot though.

2 sticks of 32GB 5200 MT/s cl 30 can run at 5200 MT/s. 4x16GB 5200 MT/s cl 30 will only run at 3600 MT/s. Does anyone know if 4x 3600 can be translated to 14400 MT/s and if then it will be faster than 2x 5200 what could be 10400 MT/s or is the math that both have 64GB but the one has overall 5200 MT/s and the other one just 3600 MT/s. I just don't know how ram speed works with 1, 2 or 4 inserted sticks on a AM5 board and if any application can benefit from 4 slower but half sized sticks more than from 2 faster but bigger sticks. I thought with DDR4 I was faster when I inserted 4 Sticks in Davinci resolve, but all of them had been at 3200 cl16. Here I am afraid that 4x 16GB 3600 cl 30 DDR5 could be slower than 4x 16GB 3200 cl16 DDR4. Hope someone can test this, or someone already knows the answer. I think 4x16GB is cheaper than 2x32GB, now if it is also faster or no difference, then it would be a way to go.

Worst platform... ever... and Intel isn't any better.
INstall 4 DIMMs, your memory speed drops down to 3600, negating all the befits of DDR5 but you stillg et the cost. EFI BIOS is slow as molasses to boot up, and getting Legacy Mode to boot a Windows 7 installer you've loaded up with USB drivers... is a nightmare... because guess what, EFI don't display any VGA text at all when it's doing anything but booting itself. It's a clusterfvck. 90% of the time you're looking at a black screen waiting 40 seconds for the system to boot to BIOS... or not. NO press F1 for BIOS, nothing. No logo splash screen... no beeps until a bagillion years later.

The worst problem right now is getting a working operating system on it. Windows 7 won't install even thought I've tried every trick int he book to make Windows 7 run on "modern" hardware. Modern my a55. What a bad joke. Running Zorin OS on it temporarily right now. My best an only option seems to be to run Windows 10 on it with OpenSHell, to try and beat into sort of working like Windows 7 in look and feel.
It's been a night mare. $2,000 in PC parts built into a finally working hardware machine I can't use for video editing because I can't get Windows on it. Still using my good old reliable FX-8350 to render videos... The comptuer industry needs to get their SH1T together, particularly mMicrosoft. If you got billions of dollars and made some of the world's most popular OS's, support them forever. Stop waving your hands and pronouncing this product is now obsolete arbitrarily, when it clearly isn't.
Sent from a Windows 7 machien tricked out and running great on n FX-8350. With a 7950x sitting idle doing jack 20 feet away.

      @@choppergirl Would G.SKILL Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR5 6000 CL30-38-38-96 1.35V be a better choice in dual channel on AM5 platforms paired with a 7800X3D on a MSI mobo?

      @@BravoSixGoingDark I couldn't tell you, I went with a 7950x and 128gb of Corsair Dominator C40 Intel Optimized RAM.
Whatever ram you buy, if you go 4 sticks make sure all 4 sticks EXACTLY match each other down to the controller chip on the DIMM (you can find the info on the detailed ram page in BIOS).
I started with one pair of Corsair Dominator and one pair of Corsair Vengeance, and boy was I in non-boot loop h377. Until I realized, there was no way to get them to play together, because one set used a Micron controller, and the other set used a Samsung controller on board.
The RAM is no longer the problem, getting a decent OS ont he computer is turning out to being more frustrating that it's worth. A $3000 computer that can not install WIndows 7, NT, XP, or even 95.
The hardware is rock solid, it's Microsoft that is the d1psh1t in this case. I got WInd 10 installer, but I don't want it on my comptuer. Running Zorin OS currently.

it was so hard to use the actual card ya had to start messing round in bios and even then an update would have ya do it again
      terrible
and while i get they have integrated this is not just having integrated its how its implemented
