I want Noel's house party back on Sat night TV. This would be amazing if it was back on again. Would be a viewing figures winner for Saturday night. Come on, NHP for 2022! Noel's such a great presenter, we miss him not been on TV for a while.
Watching this the day Steve Wright died--wasnt TV and Radio so much better back then?--RIP Steve Wright--yes i know hes not on this show but he was Noels Friend an Millions of others.
"I like to go home, sit down, and think "I want originality, quality and excellence. I watch 'Noel's House Party'" and I think "Thank God for the BBC". Originality, quality and excellence!" Not my words - the words of Alan Partridge.
I miss sitting down with the family for our Saturday night homemade stir fry and chips to watch Noel's House Party, Gladiators, and You Bet. The good old days when life made sense and telly was worth the license fee :P
That was awesome, took me straight back to my childhood! Live and Kicking in the morning and NHP and The Generation Game in the evening. Who was the guy that pranks Noel though, the one wearing what looks like a black fleece?
16:50 - The production team saving money here on NTV, the Wood Lane Bingo Hall, just yards away from BBC Television Centre also on Wood Lane, where the House Party was made at.
When Saturday nights were worth staying in for. Not the rubbish we have now. Now it's all Little Mix shite, Strictly Come Dancing etc. Should bring Noel back. He was brilliant. Worth licence the fee alone.
Dad's Army, Big Break, Generation Game, Noel's House Party and Casualty - that was the typical Saturday prime time schedule for the early to mid 1990s.
I know exactly where he was, if I had to guess, I will be damned if it wasn't SPECIFICALLY the World Showcase of Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida?
This was the last of the older style Noel's House Party. From autumn 1996 the opening titles were changed and the music was dumped. They also made changes to the set. I think this was the starting point of the programme's decline. This was the last hurrah for the better version of the House Party.
Completely agree it sounds silly but the moment they changed the music that was the start of the end. As you said changes to the set didn't help. Also sadly they started to use blobby a bit to much where it just went to far.
Yes, I agree. Amazing that Noel even admitted in an interview with Parkinson in around 2006 that he felt 1995/96 would have been the proper time to end, but they were on a high.
This really was the end of House Party at its peak, March 1996. They really should have ended with the 100th episode. Come October 1996 it was all change, new music, new titles, new house design, new routines all of which started the plummet down in the ratings.
You knowmits funny but I use to love Saturday nites back in the ole days there would b noels house party . Galdators . Big break . Only fools and horses . Blind date . Family fortunes . Match of the day . Nowadays its fucking x factor and stricly come dancing and fucking realty shows . I mean wat the fuck happened to the world
Yeah man its the same with music and movies nowadays there is just nothing good on any more nothing to look forward to .the best have been and gone all there is to look forward to is this shitty realty era
Thats the problem, TV and music has blurred, now its about trying to make music artists via a TV programme......Where the hell does blobby fit into that?
13:05 - Notice how Noel looks over to his floor manager and starts to head for the door before the doorbell actually rings. He nearly went to open the door before the bell actually rung.
Do you have any of Jim Davidson's Generation Game? Because im sure it was broadcasted an hour before House Party. It makes you think how low saturday night tv has gone.
@97channel To be fair, the suggestion was that the changes were imposed not by the production team but by the BBC in response to falling ratings, which after three years was always going to happen. No matter how good an entertainment show is, viewers will start to tire of it after a while and in the case of NHP, there are only so many innovations and surprises you can do before they start to look a bit contrived and obvious.
Noel must have had some idea the production team were going to get him, on the last show of the series and especially the 100th. He had been doing the show for five years by then, how could he not have known NTV would nab him?
Noel himself admitted he felt he should have quiet after the 1995-1996 series, but it was still No.1 ratings wise, and the massive revamp in autumn 1996 ruined the show and it never climbed back. The worse was yet to come, especially in 1997-1998 series.
They have been honest and said so. Noel even said so himself in a 2006 interview, Ant and Dec made no pretence, they said 100% they copied from the master Noel Edmonds.
NHP's dreadful demise happened because the BBC refused to accept that the show had a limited shelf-life, hence they flogged the horse long after it had deceased.
The guy who played the queen is now rather well known for his performances as the queen , prince Charles and several other well known English people. Poor old Joan Collins I wonder how much the bbc payed out for that appearance. Was she still playing alexis then ? God knows she acted like her character here . Probably had to fork over a fortune dame Joan is well known for her rather short temper.
@rsw4ever Agreed. There was never anything wrong, yet that couldn't stop messing around with it. Elaborate double-treble bluff NTV set ups. Grab-A-Grand going mental with some mad engines from a plane that had crashed into the house. Weird ongoing joke of the show running out of time and being cut off in full swing. The show had a staple of strong core elements which should have been labelled "DO NOT TOUCH!". They could, and should, have tried new things around those. Not take them all apart.

I miss TV like this, was cult viewing and not to be missed Saturday night TV ! Unlike the reality crap we have to contend with now... Bring it back !
Watching this the day Steve Wright died--wasnt TV and Radio so much better back then?--RIP Steve Wright--yes i know hes not on this show but he was Noels Friend an Millions of others.
Such a good show, takes me right back. Thanks for the upload!
I enjoyed watching Noel's House Party when I was a kid. This BBC TV programme has made my Saturday nights worth staying in for #ChildhoodMemories
Wish they putbokdvepisides on during lockdown

This aired on Saturday 30th March 1996 from 7.00pm - 7.50pm on BBC One, and was the last episode in the fifth series of Noel's House Party.
hello i missed this when i was 15 but watched now im 40 . 2020 tier 3 lockdown
Watched it when I was 12. Watching again in 2021 because lockdown is beginning to bite and I'm trying to relive my adolescence apparently 🤷♀️.
They should have put old episdes of this on during ockdown
Lovely looking back at a happy time. Seeing all the old favourites again ❤. Made me a bit emotional as some family such as mum is no longer with us 😢
It's great that classic 'disposable' culture like this is immortalized on youtube !
That was awesome, took me straight back to my childhood! Live and Kicking in the morning and NHP and The Generation Game in the evening. Who was the guy that pranks Noel though, the one wearing what looks like a black fleece?
That’s Sean Blowers best known for his role of John Hallam in London’s Burning.
Yeah and the Xmas special would be a real treat! Such fun TV!
I’m so lost watching this show and I’m here because of Jack Whitehalls reaction to Mr. Blobby

Sadly tv like this will never happen again
Yes I did I saw quite a few NHP episodes on here so thought I'd upload the ones I have as there have been alot of requests for more episodes.
I know exactly where he was, if I had to guess, I will be damned if it wasn't SPECIFICALLY the World Showcase of Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida?
@rsw4ever Very true and your welcome. 99th Episode is uploading now ready for you all to watch
This episode it holds the record for the shortest Gotcha ever done at 2 minutes and 16 seconds
Please bring this or something like it back , Saturday night TV is just not the same anymore

It’s 2023 now but I found this
Just think so much of this isn't possible anymore with twitter and mobile phones.

We miss Noel Edmunds.
Everything Noel did was good entertainment.
The intro was so much good
I use to watch this when I was 5 years old it ran from when I was only a baby from November I was to young to watch the first few series.

Shouldn’t this technical;y be the 104th episode? Since most of the seasons run for 21-22 episodes each

It's 12:30am and I have work in the morning. Why am I watching this?
The sleeves on Noel’s tuxedo fell off halfway through the episode
Ant and Dec have copied this so much for Saturday night takeaway
They have been honest and said so. Noel even said so himself in a 2006 interview, Ant and Dec made no pretence, they said 100% they copied from the master Noel Edmonds.

Onmysheet, at least noel didn't destroy the UK music charts with 1 hit wonders pop wannabes from so called talent music shows :))
+james malloy Not Noel, but Mr. Blobby did destroy the charts for a while :(
Well the situation with X Factor and BGT is that they both started off shit and went downhill from there.

When the BBC was good.
@JasonC1782 And Itv as not done the same with shows like x factor, and BGT..!!!
No he didn't, he looked really defeated with himself when it backfired on him.
That "Who's in the wardrobe" thing kinda annoyed me when i was a kid. The people who came out of it were a complete letdown.
