I reckon Richard twigged at 29.15, "I think this show is a windup for me, you know.", but being a true gentleman, he went along with it just in case the contestants were real as he might have been wrong. Just my opinion. And still a true classic!

He twigged about half way through but was just being a good sport. Not saying he knew it was a gotcha from another TV show, but he knew the crew were playing a prank and didn't wanna ruin a joke for 50 people or whatever.

@31:00 was this where the phrase “Twice Nightly Whitely” originated from, or was that saying used before this episode? I remember Richard’s retort was always “Once yearly, nearly!” Well done for keeping all these years. This was always the favourite of all of Noel’s Gotchas.
Regrettably, only a small amount of this could make it on to Noel's House Party. This full show is much more pleasant to see than the weird atmosphere of the edit. Weird how in the round where she goes to the toilet, no-one offered the valid words FARTIER or FARTER. Maybe it was even set up so that Richard could have a comeback if he so saw it. Ever the gentleman, he resisted mentioning the toilet trip when diarrhoea came up. Unfortunately, the OMETHINGS round was a misjudged part because it's so blatant. Richard himself then said that the whole thing seems a wind up. Shame to see them pretending that the end part is what Richard wasn't already in on at that time. It was funny enough already. That's Saturday night TV for you - broad brush strokes in what was actually a more detailedly comedic 'episode'.

That last letters round only had 2 vowels. And I don't think there was supposed to be that many K's either. I wonder if there was another "round" in there in the event Richard picked up the selection not being allowed?
When Carol put the numbers up right to left on the final numbers game Richard never said anything. Do you think by then he was scared to say anything in case he cursed it? 😂
It's not unknown in normal episodes for the numbers to go up in a strange order if the costestant makes an unconventional selection - in the 3rd quarter final of series 53 (28 June 2005), one of the selections was 1 from the top, 2 from the 2nd and 3 more from the top.
Bless him he had a sense of humour failure...the gritted teeth and the way his face falls when the camera stops rolling lol. I thought he had twigged at 29.15 though when he mentions a windup.
