The Schröder Staircase is an amazing optical illusion. Created by Kokichi Sugihara, it won First Prize in the 'Best Illusions of the Year Contest 2020'.

I had a cat who would lie on the backrest of my couch, like on the vertical section.
He would still kinda rest on the horizontal part, but it looked so effortless and convincing that you got the impression that he was defying physics. He even curled his tail vertically.
He loved to do this kind of stuff. He could lie in the darnest and most contorted positions and be completely relaxed, or perch on narrow and high things that didn't look like they could support his body weight. But somehow he was always fine.

Both ends of the staircase bends outward. What we're actually seeing is a diagonal staircase. When seen on an angle the staircase looks straight. The mirror is also set in an angle so it would reflect what is seen on the opposite side which is different from the viewer, this is the illusion.
