In the first Ruby Sapphire match you asked if bare necessities was good because they don't play many songs. While that is true, bare necessities can hit items too. Taking an early game quill before they can play it to stifle their ability to ramp can be back breaking against that deck. Just last night, I kept a double Quill in my opening hand and my opponent opened with double bare necessities and Cinderella on board and it absolutely crippled my early game. I expected one bare necessities, but not two.

Hey Alphos, always love watching your deck reviews, playtesting, and advice! I just have a quick recommendation: At the end of your videos, the overlays of the subscribe link and video links cover the last bit of gameplay. Could you add like a 10-15 second end card after the last game so we could see that game end? Thanks!

Against Blue Red I'd always keep Bare Necessities because it can hit Fishbone Quill on turn 2 before they can activate it
It took me a few games to remember it doesn't just discard songs! haha
I've been playing against this deck a lot as Amethyst/Steel control (I'm also Rank 4 Platinum, maybe I'll see you there!), and it seems to always depend on who gets the first character on the board wins. If I go first with the Hook or Rafiki + Pinocchio combo, I can get to turn 3 pretty safely (I run 15 songs) and keep the board cleared so they have to hard cast AWNW. If they go first, I can never play anything once the 1 drop Cinderella comes out. Definitely my most stressful matchup next to Sapphire/Steel.

By 29:32 you already won. You could have quested for 6 lore. 2 Benja, 2 from shifted queen an 1 Song played with double flute. Just for next time, cause this could cost you sometimes the game❤
Is Rapunzel useful in this deck? I suppose she is procs if you’re Challenging with Robin Hood, or the Smee, but would it just be better to have Beast? An ink more expensive, but can get more reliable draw and can sing the more expensive songs. Thoughts?

I get great joy out of seeing how wrong so many of the early calls were. Someone told me at Locals that you couldn't play Sleepy's Flute in this list anymore because it was "Too Slow". So you had to go all in on Lanterns and Rock Star Stitch instead. That sure didn't last long.
Considering the metagame is still ruby/amethyst, as well as ruby/sapphire. 2 control decks. Flute is good against those.
It really depends on how many emerald decks there are. Which flute is worse when Ursula deals with your songs and you get less cards.
If it's the mirror match, lanterns are definitely better for tempo.

How Ruby Saphirre not in the list of bad match ups? You have absolutely no chance of winning against this deck unless you Benja the Quill when on the draw. Bare the Quill. Or Wheel on turn 2 or 3 when on the play. Like no chance at all. And even when you do, you're winning rate goes to 50-50 at best.
Have not lost a single match to R/B. This deck just goes faster.
@@AlphosNZ Intriguing. Its original pilot, that went on Forbidden Mountain to talk about the subject, said it's by far the deck's worst match up.
@@bigpopa8751 I believe the original pilot wasn't running Smee's
@@AlphosNZ He did at first. But he removed it to increase his win rate against the deck. So in theroy, based on his play experience and recent tournament success, Smee is not key to the match up. And that's pretty much why I'm commenting on the matter.

Is lorcana so expensive no one plays the actual paper/cardboard version of this game?
I do play the paper version but yes price is a factor for a lot of people.

I've only played the deck at my LGS events since chapter 1, but I really should play it online because while I'm playing I don't yet know which cards are best against my match ups.
@@KitMagnificationYes, playing online has helped me slot. I can say Ruby/Sapphire gives me the most trouble.
