This can also be played on a mandolin, yes? I love guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, fiddles .. anything with strings on it. Thanks for the upload.
There's sheet music at irish.muualla.net/reel/toss-the-feathers-gravel-walks-virginia/. The problem with tab is.. for which instrument? Because they would all be different
Without thinking much about it, apparently :D It seems I'm almost always alternate picking, but trying to downpick on the beats. So for example consecutive quarter notes would be all down-picked. And if I do a triplet, that reverses the pick direction so I seem to reverse that back within the next couple of eights back into downpicking on the beats.
At the moment they're D'Addario LE011, LE018P, LE026PB and LE036P. Depends of course on the scale length and trim how loose they feel. I've got mine trimmed pretty close
Haha, just don't take any technique advice from this, this is me trying to fret each note as visibly as possible, while desperately trying to keep the ol' thumb out of the way :)
Yes, the camera angle is just fine. Great view of the left hand work.
Hypnotic!
Greetings from the Basque Country.
Thanks, really like the camera perspective, very clear and natural from the viewpoint of the player. New to tenor banjo, great set!
Awesome finger work there. Nice to have such a clear unobstructed view!
Just started to learn the tenner banjo keep posting vids I love them thankyou
Great set well played. I'm sure that folks will get a lot out of the course.

Very useful video, thanks. Six dislikes, some real sad people around.
Those thumbs down are from 5-string players who can't play this stuff.

Don’t get no finer. Thank you for enhancing the world when the world is in such chaos.
Love it !!

Sure, mandolin is in the same tuning so this should transfer directly
hehe... i call it wooden music
Lol why is this in captain Sinbad's "watches once" playlist
Tis indeed a mystery 🤔
I always tune my G to the G on guitar, if you use an electronic tuner you can end up tuning an octave too low which will make your strings loose
Sounds amazing can you tab this song?
There's sheet music at irish.muualla.net/reel/toss-the-feathers-gravel-walks-virginia/. The problem with tab is.. for which instrument? Because they would all be different
Cool thanks man much appreciated
Fingers moving like an intelligent spider, who just wants to play music!
It's a married spider 😂
Any chance you can comment w the backing chords for "Toss the Feathers?" I play the Em version and can't seem to find them.
I've got the sheet for the whole set up at irish.muualla.net/reel/toss-the-feathers-gravel-walks-virginia/
@@NiiloSirola , THANKS SO MUCH! Btw, video sounds great too!
5 strings necessary?
how do you pick triplets?
Without thinking much about it, apparently :D

I’m here cause of captain sinbad
Rattle it lovely
what is this instrument?
The Banjo.
What string gauges/brand do you use? My strings always seem to be to loose, in GDAE tuning that is.

maybe bring them up an octave?
Great technique.

Niilo Sirola Ok, sounds good though. 🙋
With these pieces all I see is flying fingers!
This isn't normal for me, but here goes: 500th 👍
Awesome!!, just a question, which would be the Guitar Tuning, much appreciated!!
770carlo I would have accompanied this in DADGAD tuning, but standard is just as fine if that feels more natural
