Will it be a proprietary mix that we will have to buy to refill the CO2 chambers? Because end of the day it’s just a yeast reaction. Really think you could change the market with this product as long as you make it a universal and non proprietary refill mechanism. Also any update on when the new FX filter range will be announced?
It is proprietary. For the booster packs, they state, "High-quality German Champagne yeast with stabilizers and nutrients for consistent quality". Plus plain old water and granulated sugar. I'm sure someone will end up testing the mixture, breaking down the components, and then telling everyone "don't buy booster, just mix X, Y, and Z". Like you said, the booster packs are really just more (totally super secret high quality) yeast.
@@rolandominueza2771 hmm interesting. Any more details on the solenoid you used? I just don’t see why they would make us buy something separate for the smaller sizes.
The biggest advantage pressurized system have over other co2 injection methods is consistency, particulary the bubble rate. It would be nice if someone reviews this products and test if the bubble rate will be consistent.
Will there be a solenoid timer? I'm at work when my lights come on. What makes this different or better than the citric acid c02 generators that are already on the market that allow the use of a timer?
Hi there! The largest Bio-CO2 Pro model includes a solenoid valve and can therefore be used with a timer. Fluval Bio-CO2 Pro systems combine the simplicity of biological CO2 production with the ability to control the CO2 rate, which is entirely unique on the market. Similar products do not allow the user to regulate the CO2, which means you have no control of the amount of CO2 entering your aquarium!
@@DustinSmith-wk3nq I own the smaller model 125 and just connected a Solenoid valve to it. Works without a hitch. Powers on and off at set times using a Smart Plug.
Looks like a very interesting new product, and attractive enough to compete with UNS and ADA products. A few questions come to mind: 1) When can we expect to see it available? Couldn’t find it even on Fluval’s own website under CO2 section. 2) Is it suitable for 3-10 gallon nano tanks? 3) Will there be an expansion option for attaching multiple manifolds to use a single Bio-CO2 Pro with two or more aquariums?
Hi there! Fluval Bio-CO2 Pro systems will be available for sale in early 2024. The smallest model is suitable for aquariums up to 33 US Gal - for much smaller tanks, you can simply turn the CO2 rate down! Lastly, there is currently no expansion option to use one unit on multiple aquariums.
Yeah, all of Fluval's year-end products don't hit the North American market well into the following year. I discovered that fact when they introduced their UVC product. It took several months before Amazon USA sold them. Maybe this CO2 will be available before summer '24.
Fluval Bio-CO2 Pro systems include a diffuser made of clear, durable acrylic, with a high-quality ceramic disc to create an ultra-fine mist of CO2 for optimized solubility and plant absorption!
This is terrible design, guys. I don’t understand the reason for not having solenoids on all sizes. Can you purchase a solenoid to use on the smaller systems?
@@fluval just a follow up question regarding shutting the smaller ones off at night: 1. Won’t that cause a buildup of pressure? 2. Can a solenoid be added? Also when will this be available?

Hi there! Bio-CO2 Pro systems operate at lower pressure levels than other CO2 systems - they're perfectly safe! Each model has a built-in pressure release valve, and the systems don't reach levels higher than 19 psi. For comparison, traditional pressurized CO2 systems operate between 800 and 1100 psi!
Also got another question for you. I have a 380 litre planted tank, would the co2 pro 250 be too little and would the 500 be too much for a 380 litre tank.
Hi there! A solenoid valve was not included on the 125 and 250 models in order to keep costs down, and because it isn't necessary! Bio-CO2 Pro systems are designed to produce a steady flow of carbon dioxide without interruption, ensuring your aquatic plants receive a continuous supply of this essential gas, even when the aquarium lights are turned off. The production rate is calibrated to about 10 bubbles per minute per 26 US Gal / 100 L of aquarium volume - sufficient for the needs of your plants, while remaining safe for your fish, even overnight. Extensive testing involving multiple units operating non-stop over long periods of time has resulted in enhanced live plant growth and no adverse effects on fish.
Hi there! Bio-CO2 Pro systems are made of grade 304 stainless steel. All three models are equipped with their own precision regulator and bubble counter!
@@fluval Thank you! On my second question, I meant if I could add my own regulator with solenoid in place of the stock regulator? Im still learning the world of planted aquariums! 😬
Adding CO2 to an aquarium will always have an acidifying effect on the water! That said, the amount the pH will change depends on the rate of CO2 used and the buffering capacity of your water. It's always recommended to test your pH regularly while using CO2 systems. 👍
With the smaller two sizes (125 and 250), yes, the system needs to be turned off at night and turned back on in the morning. With the largest size (500), a solenoid valve is included!
Hi there! This is an announcement video - it's supposed to be the first you've heard of it! Fluval Bio-CO2 Pro systems will be available for sale in January. 😎
@@fluval one of my biggest reasons I haven't tried CO2 is because the closest place to get the tanks refilled is an hour and a half away from me so of this works I will buy one for all of my 9 tanks!
disappointed it wasnt an announcement for a reactor instead of this. what is the difference from this and a pop bottle. i just installed a needle valve in the air line for flow control. only the top model seems to feature a solenoid.
Hello Fluval, I wanted to ask when will the large, black container that’s meant for up to 132 be available? ZI ask because I don’t see it available anymore but the others are.
But don't aquariums make CO2? Aquariums have decomposing waste from fish food, plant matter and other things that collect on the substrate or in our filter media. The plants make C02 at night so can they use their own c02 that they created for daytime use? Im confused...why add more C02?
Ask that to every person with a giant co2 system running on a timer lol. The real answer is: Faster and more robust plant growth. It helps to keep algae at bay. Some plants can not reach their full vibrancy (especially red plants) without it. Is it absolutely necessary? No. Does it make a real, quantifiable difference? It really does. Aquariums do produce a lot of these nutrients and compounds, but in much smaller amounts than you would think. It's why we use co2, liquid fertilizer, root tabs, etc. The natural environment has had millions of years to build up a mature ecosystem, which we're trying to replicate in a matter of years.
You're absolutely right - on their own, aquariums do produce CO2! However, the amount naturally generated is nowhere near enough for a densely planted aquarium (which will generally house fewer fish, exacerbating the problem even further). Fluval Bio-CO2 Pro systems make supplementing CO2 levels and maintaining a healthy planted aquarium as safe and easy as possible! 🌿
So, if we had an aquarium over 130 gallons (US), we'd have to purchase more than one of your Bio-CO2 chambers. Hopefully, you're working on a larger chamber for aquarists with voluminous tanks or a system to combine multiple chambers of various sizes👍🏽.
