Superb virtuoso. Loved the choir and instrumental accompaniments. Great sound! Takes me back to the early 60s in high school when our Chem teacher would invite us brass players up to his place in the mountains of Bonny Doon near Santa Cruz, CA. He had a large pipe organ in a purpose built "chapel" on his property. This organ had hundreds of pipes, and sounded grand in the chapel. He would have us accompany him on this very piece, Trumpet Voluntary by Purcell. It was an extraordinary experience!
I, too, was blessed to hear him live, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, many years ago, accompanied by the glorious Casavant organ there. What a thrill for the young people in this video to perform with him!
th-cam.com/video/mmr16Fd2vq4/w-d-xo.html This version's quality is better. Not great, but better. There's a lot of white noise, but the sound isn't clipping anymore so you can appreciate the power of the whole brass section
Definitely the royal wedding arraingement of this magnificent piece!!! We see here maurice in his glorious prime at the height of his powers hitting this one way out the park!!!!!! It was moments like this that made him the greatest trumpeter of the 20 th, century!!!!
OMG. I appreciate good honking. Andre is simply beyond belief. This was an exquisite performance of the Clark March. I'd buy the DVD if it was recorded. Unparalleled.
This piece is marvellous! It's a pity that the version on youtube is that bad : through bad (too loud) recording excessive distortion occurs in the sound
This is one of those rare fantastic pieces of music like the minuets of Handel's fireworks musik thatreally does it for me, I envision going "over the top" and being either victorious or gloriously massacred.
I don't know who you are but from my knowledge it seems to be that you are right: Trumpet Voluntary was composed by Jeremiah Clarke and not by Henry Purcell. :-) This piece I would like to hear about the original baroque trumpets. This is another sonority world.
I did some research based on the logo on the performance screen "Musique Classique". Apparently this was performance was a television broadcast and maybe we are seeing the home-recorded broadcast. For those who want to obtain the studio's recording, here is Wikipedia's discussion of Musique Classique. PLease post if you locate the original recording. Wikipedia: MUSIQUE CLASSIQUE. Created on 2 April 1996, Musique Classique was a television channel owned by AB Groupe. The programming consisted of classical concerts, opera, lyrical works, and magazine programmes (e.g. À livret ouvert...). The channel was run by Jean-Michel Fava. Musique Classique was shown on the AB Sat package, some cable operators, such as Noos-Numericable (see also Numericable (NOOS)) and ADSL operators such as Freebox TV. The channel was not available on Canalsat or TPS. History[edit] On October 15, 2007 at 10:00 AM, the channel ceased broadcasting to make way for Ciné First, which also stopped in September 2010.[1]
Jamesbondus1820 😢 Google translate i'm French ans my english is bad. Thanks a lot
This is by far the best version of Trumpet Voluntary on the internet unfortunately it sounds horrible. Anyone knows where to find a better quality of this exact video/song?
grrrrrr! - this is NOT Purcell, it was attributed to him for many years but was written by the contemporary English composer Jeremiah Clark and is called "The Prince of Denmark's March" - I conducted this when at school in the late 1980s and knew it's true provenance back then - in 1993 Maurice Andre should have known better!

This is the most amazing rendition I've ever heard, glorious.
This was the tune that was played for my wedding, coming into the church.
Karen when did you get married? My aunt used this for her wedding processional in 1987
@@limenlimpidgreen November 4, 2006.
pour moi aussi, c'était il y a 45 ans ! for me too, it was 45 years ago !
Mine too
You are beautiful and I wish you happiness!!!
From what I've been told, Maurice Andre came from humble roots. He honors my own humble roots with his unparalled artistry.
Indeed, he came from a mining family. He himself worked in the mine from 14 to 18 years old.
Glorious, majestic, spectacular, magnificent, amazing, awesome, graceful, terrific, beautiful and breathtaking 🥹❤️
Never have I heard such a glorious rendition! Magnificent! Thank you for posting.
Your welcome thanks for watching.
I had the good pleasure to see Monsieur Andre at my high school in 1970. What a delightful concert!
You are a lucky person....or should I say blessed! Monsieur Andre was probably the one who made the piccolo trumpet popular. I Love his recordings!
Although the opening credit says “Henry Purcell”, this famous tune was composed by one of his contemporaries “Jeremiah Clarke.”
I sat here with cold chills running up and down my legs
and crying like a baby. Marvelous !
What a massive ensemble. Exquisite trumpet technique. It must have been an incredible live performance experience.
I, too, was blessed to hear him live, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, many years ago, accompanied by the glorious Casavant organ there. What a thrill for the young people in this video to perform with him!
amazing song. very well played. shame the sound quality is poor
oh ok i was about to say... dang i need new headphones lol
im not alone :|
My god... how breathtaking it must have been to see this live. Wish I could have been there. Though I'd have been a few years too young.
th-cam.com/video/mmr16Fd2vq4/w-d-xo.html This version's quality is better. Not great, but better. There's a lot of white noise, but the sound isn't clipping anymore so you can appreciate the power of the whole brass section
Oh no. The sound quality being "poor" is an understatement. This is going to destroy your ears and leave you traumatised.
Whenever I picture trumpet voluntary in my mind it always points to this performance
Definitely the royal wedding arraingement of this magnificent piece!!! We see here maurice in his glorious prime at the height of his powers hitting this one way out the park!!!!!! It was moments like this that made him the greatest trumpeter of the 20 th, century!!!!
Correction: the Trumpet Voluntary is actually the Prince of Denmark's March by Jeremiah Clarke, and Trumpet Tune a different song is by Henry Purcell
Prince of Denmark's March played by The King Maurice Andre, something beyond Royalty
Thank you!-Michael McClary
This was our entrance music at our wedding 25 years ago.....
Andre you are the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). We celebrate your life.
After 20 years still mooving!
I like the idea to compaign with choir and orchestra.
And Maurice ...simply fantastic!
OMG. I appreciate good honking. Andre is simply beyond belief. This was an exquisite performance of the Clark March. I'd buy the DVD if it was recorded. Unparalleled.
I have always loved this ! So special it was part of your wedding !
I never get tired of hearing this great voluntary. Usually when I play this, it is on the organ with a trumpet.
Bravo, majestuoso, angelical.
This piece is marvellous! It's a pity that the version on youtube is that bad : through bad (too loud) recording excessive distortion occurs in the sound
Amazing! I really enjoy listening to Maurice Andre.
Merveilleuse musique de mon enfance merci
how come I tend to drop a tear or 2 whenever I hear this tune?
Kurt jørgen larsen. I do too, is because you listen with your soul?
@@Tolucoregonian no, you listen with your ears
It's made in honour of a Danish Prince, Prince George (Jørgen), Prince Consort of Queen Anne. That why, of cause.
A humble Dane🤔😉🤣
The most majestic tune of all time.. it reminds me of Princess Diana walking down the isle at her wedding..
Awesome. When I was a young man I would play this Purcell piece every morning as a wakeup call.
Chapel Tibet Really?! What did your parents say when you did that?
Chapel Tibet it is NOT written by Purcell!!!!!!
Used this at my wedding. Wonderful music.
The great trumpet player Maurice André the best of the world
Franchement j'adore. C'est sublime.
I love this version too. Power and majesty!
This is one of those rare fantastic pieces of music like the minuets of Handel's fireworks musik thatreally does it for me, I envision going "over the top" and being either victorious or gloriously massacred.
It is NO
It is NOT by Henry Purcell, nor is it "Trumpet Voluntary!" It is "The Prince of Denmark's March," by Jeremiah Clarke!
Unbelievable! Just best performance ever!
He is great and the orchestra is also great.
³,
BRAVO and many thanks for posting.
One of the tunes we learn at an early age and never sours.
The ultimate trumpet player plays a stirring rendition of the ultimate trumpet tune.
Trumpet Voluntary was composed by Jeremiah Clarke not by Henry Purcell!!!!
That's right

It was indeed
Yes . He (Henry purcell)is appropiated it(trumpet volutary)but jeremiah clarke is Made it
For years this piece was attributed to Purcell, but musicologist are certain now that it's true authorship is indeed jerimiah Clark!!!!!

Couldn`t they have played a bit louder? I could hardly hear it.
LOLOLOL Right
...turn ur volume up
My headphones can't handle the glory.
This is Clark’s and I agree the sound system is really bad.
I NEVER tire of the Trumpet Voluntary March by Henry Purcell!
Please. Give Clarke the credit.
Beautiful musical performance !
Each of us is a Monarch when he or she processes to Maestro Andre's "Trumpet Voluntary" Kudos, Maurice.

As is well known Andre quite talented. Just note: this Voluntary written by Clarke.
Matrice André est mon préféré à jamais !
Sublissime Maurice André...
i love this piece!
Brillante MAESTRO MAURICE.... UN GENIO DE LA TROMPETA
bloody puts a smile on me face
Bravo
Is was written by Jeremiah Clarke, not Purcell. This has been known for years.
Yes, we all know that. It's been mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell for scores of years, and that's the name that's popularly stuck. Get over it.
What can you say ....... Maurice ‘takes the biscuit’ as ALL THE GREATEST PRESENT & PAST TRUMPETERS TESTIFY FREELY!!
Incredible tune. Briliant.
Loved this as a sample at the end of Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping"
Stunning
Am ora de muzica si ascult asta :')
incredibly wonderful! ;-)
What if we say something about Henry Purcell?
My 13 year old daughter is learning this on her cornet, your performance has inspired her and brought me to tears! Thank you for sharing!
Belle partition et interprétation
Ahem. . . . And now the King of Glory comes ! ! ! !
the distortion is probably just yt..or the mics are two or 3 feet too close. still great..
1993 could not handle this magnificent sound!
Yes, Jeremiah Clarke (c. 1674 - 1 December 1707)
hommage a ce grand monsieur :(
Gosh that’s amazing!
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
ETHERREALLY SUBLIME TUNE!!! (OMG!)
