Fantastic interview, and Damon comes across as a really humble, gentle soul. I was a Popper in Newcastle during the Tiffany"s "Sidewalk" afternoons from 12-3pm on Saturdays back in the 80's. I never stopped popping throughout the 90's and was around during NCK's time. As one one of the only poppers left from the 80's. I never stopped because it was my passion. I started off doing mime aged 7 and 8, then by 11 thst had materialised into robotics after seeing Tik & Tok on TV. Then the whole hip hop scene kicked off in the UK, and I was hooked. I feel incredibly passionate about my Tiffany's days. They were some of the best childhood memories of my life.
I used to break dance with Damon at times, what a very nice lad and excellent 'Power Breaker'. It is a fantastic surprise to see this video pop up, it brings back lots of memories. I was one of the original Breakers at the 'Sidewalk'. I'm the one in that picture booklet, in front of my record collection, holding up our crews 'Uniform' Nike tracksuit at 3:16. We were called the 'Break City Crew'.Everyone knew me as 'Speedy', because I was very fast with my moves in breaking. The first time I went into tiffany's 'Sidewalk' it was in the little room and seeing 'Jan' from The Electro Breakers, walked past me, singing along to 'The Renegades of Funk' that was playing, this scene blew my mind. I was from Sunderland and had been break dancing and doing robotics for a while. After that me and my friends went every week. I have some great memories and stories of this whole scene and era and on my channel, original footage from 1984, of a competition battle I was in a club in Sunderland. Also there is a short interview documentary on my channel with myself and Newcastle Breaker 'Zane', who was the next generation of break dancers. There is also footage of the later Newcastle underground Hip Hop scene, featuring myself and lads mentioned in this video. I can still bust moves and love to pull out my 'Party trick' to an unsuspecting crowd, given the chance. 'In case of emergency.... BREAK... DANCE'. My life has been shaped by music and break dancing, feel free to use any of the footage on my channel. B-Boys will always be boys!! Respect, peace and love!
