    Still consider gaming in Linux? Let me know in the comments below

    I posted the same on your 7900 XTX video. Mangohud does have a logging function for benchmarking. Default key combo to toggle is Left Shift + F2. It logs the performance data, shows the avg, max and lows on the overlay and generates a csv file which you can use to make charts andngraphs. The developer's website supports uploading of the csv to generate charts and graphs automatically.

      Ok, I will try it again. I tried to use it in the first video, but the files were not created in the given location.

      See if you have an output location set in the mangohud .config file. Try changing it to a different location, I have mine set to the documents folder and it works. If you're using a flatpak mangohud it may need additional permissions to create and write the output files.

      It may need additional permission, I think you are right as it installed by default from flatpack

    how about RT off ? i dont use it anyway, althou i have RTX

    • @casuallygamin9

      I tested all games max settings and that means to enable RT. Have a look at games that don't have RT to understand a bit the performance gap, but to be honest I didn't check RT off in games that have that future.

    actually good to see that the difference between linux and windows is not mainly the number of titles actually playable anymore... but some 10-40 fps difference.

    @8:49 i wonder why on Linux there are only 5 Levels for "Specular Reflections", ☀️🤏🏻☹️ on Win11 are 7 Levels according to Digital Foundry.
    Seems no Raytracing on Linux.
    So Playing on Linux should mean pay max 700 Bucks for gpu because all games that need faster card will run drastically slower on Linux.

    I'm curious to see the performance gap between Nobara 40 and Windows 11. Will you cover that as well?

    Wow, that is beyond pathetic LOL. Its like they completely throw away the game optimizations out of the window when making the linux driver or they have no clue how to optimize with proton. Both of these are just a disaster of consumers. If we want linux adoption to grow, Nvidia performance can't stay like this. Hopefully NVK matures like RADV and I hope it happens fast. If the 7900 XTX doesn't fair any better though, I will take all of what I just said back.

      @@casuallygamin9 for now? You mean for years! There have been many attempts for making linux distros for gaming. None have worked nearly as good as windows. Even steamOS.

    • @casuallygamin9
      @casuallygamin9  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well we don't know how games will perform if these are implemented for Linux as well. Now you need to use Proton or Wine to run games that are designed for windows. But you are probably right, for years, Windows will perform better on Nvidia.

      For gaming, sure, most gpu benchmarks are gaming related. For other GPU computing use cases, Rocm/hip is not as good as CUDA or even oneAPI on Intel Arc.
