    this has to be the most helpful study advice ever. it’s so raw and realistic for me. going straight to exam problems and practicing them until i get them right sounds faster than spending hours taking notes. i’ve noticed how when i spend 3 hours re-reading textbooks and my notes is not effective when taking exams. i’m also not going to take breaks like u said. i’m extremely prone to procrastinating so that’s probably one of the most realest advice i’ve heard so far. i just have to start giving myself some discipline

    best way for studying: type notes in class and pull screenshots from the slides. when its time to study for the exam, use the notes from the class to make a story of the thing. like if you are studying photosynthesis TYPE the notes in class, then when the exam comes, WRITE initially from memory and then compare your initial WRITING with the TYPED ones to pick out what you forgot that is essential. :) should help.

      Some students also rely on writing their notes manually because by keeping their hands busy and active, it enables them to solely focus on the information they are noting down. Typing, however, usually takes more time especially for those who aren't accustomed to typing on a laptop or staring at a screen for too long. In conclusion, I want to state my opinion that writing out notes is better than typing it out. No offence to your opinion though!!!

    for anyone going through this video, as someone who has been using all these techniques successfully for years, i can confirm each fact he mentions here does work really well… though note taking does look like its a good method of studying, the real work is to get information out of the head rather than filling them in to brain again and again so even though you might have studies it dozens of times, if your brain haven’t created paths to get the information out often enough, your performance on the exam wont be as good as you would expect it to be.
    i wish y’all enjoy the process of learning and get the best results out of it !!

  • @angelgaming7658
    @angelgaming7658 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I've actually found this really effective method that helps me study maths, when the teacher teaches the topic and it becomes a new concept I will do a lot of practice on that concept to sort of grasp an understanding. If I don't understand even through practice, which is a new problem I sometimes encounter now, I will still do the practice using the way that they teach you to do it. Then here comes the gist, usually between the time that I get tested and the time that I learnt the topics there will be some time, so before tests especially when I don't have that much time to study I take some sticky notes and go back in my text book to read the examples and then just understand the flow and the thought process that takes place, then I write down any formula or the process to solving something on the sticky notes. When I go back to examples it's also really important that you start with the basics, and because of the practice I did before it helps me to understand the topic better and easier when I go over it again, and for the topics I didn't understand when I learned them, I usually understand them really well when I come back and do this process. Sorry for the long paragraph, just wanted to share my recent discovery on a study method. Hope it was atleast somewhat interesting to read tho ♥♥

    • @jet.james.61
      @jet.james.61  ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Oh wow you're doing all 3 sciences??
      Well with physics since its heavily problem based you can just do questions over and over again whilst applying your knowledge.
      With biology do practice questions, however, you will need to find an effective way to memorise things, so flashcards, notes, testing yourself on different things stuff like that.
      Chemistry is like a mix of both worlds, you need to remember concepts but also know how to answer problem based questions. And since chemistry and biology share some concepts, you can find a way to relate them to eachother and apply them to eachother and that should help you remember a bit more!

    In my case, I consider my breaks are just bathroom breaks, filling water bottle (in case,I drank it all) or ...to disturb my siblings (for short term,lol)

    I am preparing for my ACCA p level exams, and weirdly enough, this is the note taking technique that I applied this session and this is more effective than it sounds! I didn’t study the texts that much, I practiced, let myself feel dumb and note the parts that were tough and revise repeatedly. And about breaks I agree too, I take longer breaks like 30-40mins in 4-5hrs, that too with a plan or agenda or else I'd be just wandering everywhere instead of studying. I am more focused once I'm more settled in what I'm doing.

    As a Indian I was first hesitating to open the vid cuz they only talk about the pomodoro and blah and subjects like English or geography and all..But I still opened cuz my intuition said it's smthin diff...and I totally loved it...bruhhhhh You're like the twin...and when you said about my 15 hour break turns into the rest of the day it wassss enough to hit the subieee button...💋I just loved It!!! honestly this no break thing will also work with biology majors because of biochem and especially for med school people who have to understand long mechanisms.

    To anyone reading this comment this man described it it too perfectly ,it applies so perfectly I was a student spending hours on study sessions as per my teachers would always advice me to study for around 8 hrs a day to score A (and being obedient I did ) then moving to my as lvl while doing self study I use to literally study around to 2 to 3 hrs a day nearly weeks before my cies and trust me aced my exams with as and bs WITH SELF STUDY and in subject like a lvl maths I scored a good grade (but do practice tho ) it’s just how u study smart and there is no point to stress out pro tip+every one has a diff style ur probably more smarter than those students studying for hours and hours and could do it in just a lil time

    I'm a 3rd year Chemical Engineering student, I gasped when I saw you solving for a mass transfer subject. I'm currently taking Heat and Mass Transfer this semester and I find the subject quite challenging. I really love your take about the note taking thing. Most of my study time is consumed by making pretty notes that I'm not able to practice solving the entire topic coverage.

    • @jet.james.61

      Omgg same I'm also a 3rd Year. But yeah, note taking is something I don't spend too much time on anymore... Unfortunately Semester 1 of my 1st year was the only time I could spend taking notes, other than that it's almost impossible to be up to date with the knowledge if you want to take pretty notes :(

    1. stop taking notes. do practice q. follow 80-20 rule in study.
    2. jot instead of note
    3. rinse and repeat
    4. take break when necessary. but keep in mind about your attention span. dont take too much break or too long break. do deep work
    5. shuffle your study subjects but put constant daily effort
