    True, but it wasn't later on really. Second language speakers learnt the language from the native speakers before the last native speaker died and now there are a new generation of children being brought up with it as their first language at home so it has retained a link with the original line of the language.

    It's dead apparently, according to UNESCO, doesn't look very dead to me...
