10 trout between 20 and 25 inches - an incredible fly fishing trip!

- I'm fishing with my buddy Jarrod and it's easily one of the best fly fishing trips I have ever had. We caught so many brown, rainbow and tiger trout over 20 inches w/ a few in the 23-25 inch range. I didn't include the 20 to 30 under 16 inch browns and rainbows I caught. Add in a dozen brook and one cutthroat trout and it's easy to see why the white is one of the best tailwaters in the country!

That Tiger is absolutely gorgeous! Well done Drew!
Wow! A day like that really redefines what a "good day" of Trout fishing is. Congrats Drew.
You got that right!
This is awesome, Drew. That warning horn cracked me up as I thought, "I wonder what goes through a trout's mind when they hear that?"
That was funny for sure!
They are thinking it’s dinner time.
Always a pleasure sharing time with somene who enjoys the trip and great fish are a bonus.
Thanks for sharing.
'QUICK RELEASE' I see what you did there. Very savvy. Mr. Brown would have never expected that move. Well done sir, well done.
Wow what a fishery, the water look so clean and clear. All those beautiful fish...what a day.
I haven’t yet been able to catch anything close to you yet but I still enjoy watching you do your thing
Stunning fishing and Tiger Trout magnificent. Brownies large also nice. Superb video Drew, thanks from the UK 🇬🇧
Wow wow wow 😀 awesome tiger and so many beautiful fish!!
What a great couple of days!!! 😀🐾🐈🐈⬛🐾👍👏👏👏
Wow! Yer killing me, Drew. Congrats on an awesome trip.
Man that was a day that we all hope for good job thanks for sharing
Such a great vid, Drew, Funny as Hell losing thr reelQQ! Great fish.!
Got exciting real quick lol!
Be there next weekend Drew. Enjoy all your stuff!!
that was so exciting, I've got to change my waders! WOW!
Those were amazing Drew! interesting way to get something on the reel then have the reel fall off, never seen that before :) Great vid, thanks for allowing us to join!
Made things interesting for sure!
Doesn't get any better than this.
I was up there just a couple of months ago. I really want to move there. I've lived on the Gulf Coast most of my life, and I always said I have saltwater in my veins. But that area could flush it out of me. Beautiful day and beautiful fish.
In my backyard again! Those were some great fish, Drew! I still haven't caught a Tiger yet. I never noticed that the browns stay down and those big rainbows jump around like tarpon! 😂
Been fortunate with the tigers this year!
Love this place! Bigger water that I prefer but man there’s some hawgs on that river.
Heading over there tomorrow.
Drew, Great video and as always the content is fantastic. best regards from chicago
Nice fish!
Wow!!! What a day. The tiger trout was amazing!!!
Drew I just beat up the big browns on Taney. Landed 10 over three pounds. Two weighed five pounds around 25 inches and the biggest was 26.5 and weighed 7 lbs. White river chain is some of the best trout water. Great video as always sir.
wow, that is some good fishing, like in a barrel or... below a dam.
Talk about a highlight reel. That was really nice.
Such a fun trip!
Awesome some friends of mine were there last week. You should try the North Platte, it has lots of fish that size.
Nice!!!
What a pro fishing trip you crushed it I would love to see some of the flies you use I’m 1 week into fly fishing
Get some Wooly buggers and you’ll catch everything
We are headed there next week. Fishing with your buddy Matt Milner and Taylor from flippin fly guides. Hopefully we catch another shad kill like last year. Fishing was unreal at the damn, all week. This video has my adrenaline pumping. I can't sleep now. :)
Matt's a solid dude for sure!
Great video. Great fish. What dropper nymph?
Awesome video!! What time of year do they not allow you to fish up by the Dam. I have been there 1 time and I think it was in October and there was signs that said no fishing pass this point. I think it was for the spawning of brown trout.
I've never hit the section of the White Below Bull Shoals before but been to Taneycomo several times. Cool getting a glimpse of the area and the fish. I was surprised to see tigers are in there. You might want to hit the dam area after dark with some massive bunny leeches if you can get back there in a month or so Drew. Great way to get the biggest trout of your life.
I don't think this is the White River or even in Missouri or Arkansas.
@@asymptoticsingularity9281 Read the credits at the end...Gaston's White River Resort.
@@fishguru73 You're are right. Thanks
Great video! Man! What beautiful fish! Is the White river mostly class 1 and 2? Being from Oregon, i am used to drift boat river fishing. Those Jon boats look like a great platform for casting.
Those river jons are nice. Hard to even say it's a class I...it's basically a lazy river which changes at higher flows. Having 8 turbines it can go from no flow of a cpl hundred cfs to 24k or higher if the open gates...but basically the only real obstacles are boat docks...don't hit those or drag an anchor and it's not hard to float@
I had 3 or 4 trips to the white and always had such a great time. Lot’s of fish and big ones too. You should also fish the red river too.
The red is where I started fly fishing. Being from Arkansas I've fished all our tailwaters for nearly 20 years. Love my home waters!
I had one of the best trout days of my life on the Red. A memory that will never be diminished . Isn’t that why we go out to the waters? Just looking for those days and cherishing the memory. What an amazing fishery. Lord knows I’d love to be able to do it one more time.
@@LooknFishy
The red will always have a special place in my heart. The way it's managed now kills me. It's the only wild trout tailwater (white, Norfork, red) that doesn't have a minimum flow requirement. It's sad to see it basically frog water all summer. It desperately needs a minimum flow requirement.
@@LooknFishy I’ve only been on that water just the one time. If it isn’t being managed correctly that’s wrong. I’m sorry to hear that. It’s a beautiful stretch of water that I was on. To hear it described as frog water just doesn’t fit my recollection. I would like to think folks in Arkansas have a bit more sense.
Hey Drew. Always like watching your vids and how easy you make long casts look (what line type do you use to get such good travel?). Wade-fished below Table Rock Dam a number of days a couple of weeks ago while they weren't generating. Didn't catch near the size fish you were on this vid, but a good time none the less. Cheers from Nashville.
I like textured lines just for that reason and how well the mend! Taney is fun I usually fish it when I get dragged to Branson with my family lol!
That's the White river in Arkansas.
1:50 - 2:05 exactly like what my wife sounds like when she tells me something.
Great video.. What boat is that you're using?
Below bull shoals ? I just got back yesterday from beaver lake. My arm was sore after 3 days!
Got a new textured line and my finger is tore up from stripping them in hah
Great fishing and video! What weight rod and line setup were you using? I have subbed! Thanks.
Drew, whats is Jarrods guide company?? heading there next month!
I've watched all your videos, you are by far the best fly fisherman around, especially in the Driftless, your casts are flawless! What fly line 3 to 5 weight do you recommend...
I appreciate that!
I have knocked my spool off like that before. Spool bounced into a deep hole in the river. Started pulling line in. unwound all my backing to the knot before i was able to pull it out of the water.
Where is this man? Great run
Wow! Day of a lifetime drew. Was your wrist and arm hurting before the end of the day? Did any of those fish take you into your backing? Enjoyed watching. 👍
A couple did or got real close!
That was a good trip...hope i can get back into to it this year...Feeling fishy>
You should!
@@LooknFishy Tying some Pat's and a egg pattern we call the Phyllis Diller. Going out early next month to North Carolina...All your fault...lol
Ok, Drew. Trip in November- should I try the White in Arkansas or head to SE Louisiana for reds? Thoughts?
Both!
Your buddy asked you if you had some time to come fish?
Isn't that pretty much like asking anyone else if they wanted to breathe? 😂
Great vid Drew. Man that would be fun!
Thx . .
Truth lol!
Reminds me of Taneycomo in Missouri. Great fish!
What kind of boat is that?
Drew that was off the hooook!!!! Looked tight as hell!!! I prefer the wade trips but man that was solid!!!!!! Great job!!!!
Where is that!?! Looks like the south or mid west!?!?
Tiger trout were first bred at the Spokane WA hatchery when there were some leftover brook trout sperm and some brown trout eggs and a gentleman named Jim (I don't recall his last name) decided to mix em and they hatched. They were left in a pond for 5 years and did great so they began stocking them in local lakes. That fish has really taken off.
This is Spokane area?
@@jpallen719 I don't know, you can transport sperm, eggs and technology to other areas. It's a place with water we know that for sure.
Is this the White River in Arkansas?
Alright. Next trip. Siberia for giant taimen!
What river is that ?
drew were you using a 4wt?
Using my 9.6ft 6wt for the hopper/dropper day 1 in the higher flows with 4x to hopper and 5x to dropper. Day 2 at dam...10ft 4wt while nymphing with 5x to first fly and 6x to second...every fish took the second fly on 6x.
California won't let us get close to the dams. I always wish I could. You used to be able to on Shasta, on the lake side. 911 stopped it.
We have a zone we can't cross...the red signs in the video are the restricted area. But I always see boats up in the restricted zone unfortunately
@@LooknFishy Our zone is like a half mile out.
What is the name of this tailwater? Thanks.
Where are you fishing?
Where are you?
A little bit of sleuthing in the description an you'll get it. They Ar not in kansas anymore.
White...just did another vid with my buddy a few weeks back so I didn't mention the area in this one...but no secret.
Where are you? What river?
Sorry Drew, tail waters don't count.😜
What state is this?
What state is the white river ?
Washington
Please invest in a tape measure
The net has one on the handle and they were taped. Put a link to a photo of 25" brown in another skeptical comment. I invite you to check that out...pics do a better job than gopro vids on showing size.
Where is this? Bull Shoals?
Where is this body of water? Name?
Nice!!!
