"Kids won't work until they are 18" probably the most unrealistic part of this medieval sim. We all know kids were working young. In fact, even on a modern day farm, the kids are almost always participating in the daily work. Back home, even kids that aren't in the farmer's family will end up with the summer job of detasseling corn as early as 13.
Ive been doing bits of work since i was about ten (not on a farm) joined the army when i was 17, these kids have no excuses ahahah lazy little shits ahaha
As a son to a now retired farmer i can confirm. Started really helping on the farm by the age of 5-6, learning to drive a tractor and a car by 10 and helping the cows to deliver their calfs by all by myself at the age of 12. Seeing that only adults can really work in this game is amusing to say the least xD
One thing I learned is you can place gravel roads over animal spots to delete the spawn locations. Super helpful if you don't like wolf's being to close to roads or bears near caves.
Started playing yesterday… didn't know the game offers that much of details and fun! Didn't wanna watch the video to not have item/feature spoiler, because I love when the game surprizes me, but couldn't resist. The only downside of the game is that the dialogues are written but not spoken, which makes me skip some dialogues out of boredom. Informative video btw, keep it up 👍
Along with tip #6...to help control, or at least limit the number of kids being born, put couples in a small simple house only. This way, they can only have 1 child as the house occupancy is only a max of 3, whereas a small house and a house have a max occupancy of 4, allowing them to have 2 kids. I noticed you hacking at a tree 4 or 5 times, when it only took 3 to cut it. Those extra hits are wearing away at your tool. Axes, hammers, pickaxes ... don't hit more times than you have to, to maximise their lifespan.
That last tip is so important my first few saves were falling apart by year two because I was building so fast and adding villagers. By the time I realized what I wanted everything was wrong
You should also add that people should walk up and down streams and coasts of lakes to find washed up barrels, crashed carts, and unburied chests, there’s also copper and iron tools you can find at these spots that you can resell early game for quick seed and fertilizer money, but great video man 👍🏻
Good tips.. I've been hammering this game since Xbox release and have already reached Town status and unlocked almost every building. One tip I would add is to always turn your own grains into Flour. If you set that as a task for your villagers you will sometimes find they used up all your seed for the next planting meaning you will need to pay the higher prices to get more. Grinding grains to flour is a fast and simple task to do yourself anyway. And to make cash, don't fall for the Stone Knife tips.. Use your Hunters to gather more Fur and Leather and just make Simple Bags, they sell for more and use less materials. Amazing game and great video.. keep up the good work. :)
Yeah that stone knives is a time waster. Unless you're just waiting for a shop to open in a town I gather sticks and stones while waiting to lvl up survival then craft knives til they open. Atleast it's more pocket money in case you end up short.
did u ever have a problem with the hunters not doing their jobs like I have them at 50 meat and 25 for feather and fur with 5 knives usually and they don’t hunt
Sorry for the late reply but no, I never had that issue. They always stuck around the hunters hut looking like they weren't busy but the meat always made it's way to my food storage every day.@@user-sk6rk1mn9z
These were helpful. I'm finding the early game to be fun, but difficult to establish myself because of the distance of the quests and the time it takes me gather materials/build. It's a little tough to prioritize.

The resource storage near the mine 😮 GENIUS. I got the game 3 weeks ago so this tip is so clutch for when I unlock the mine (still haven’t because I started over after hating how i built my first village 😅)
early on, the best source of fertilizer is by collecting berries. doesn't matter if they ripe or not. I did this until i was able to buy pigs. With just 2 pigs i had more then enough shit for fertilizer forever. Next tip, I built my chicken coop way too late. Feathers and eggs are great to sells, since both aren't heavy
Wow this game seems more fun. I played it today for the first time and it's way better than expected. I see myself spending most of my time on this game.. at least for a few months.
I hope this game gets a strong community. I bought it on PS5 impulsively. Should have considered it would be on PC. Either way, I love this game. It will hold me over until KCD follow ups come. Something about Medieval themed games during the winter months. Its like a heary porridge for the soul. 😄
One handy thing that I figured out about collecting items off the ground, equip a shovel and then walk around slowly while holding the collect button. You'll pick it up instantly as there'll be no collecting animation.
The only animals I have are 2 horses which I only use when in a rush to go somewhere which is rare as I enjoy walking around the valley gathering resources. As for the resources from pigs, sheep etc..., I have so much coin from farming (250000 in year 5) that I simply buy everything they could produce and save the trouble of dealing with them. One tip for new players is to set your seasons to more than the default 3 days. I used 15-20 day seasons for the first year and 5-10 after that allowing me to take it slow and really enjoy the experience.

I set it to 30 day seasons and just skip to the next season when I want to, or am ready to. I typically spend a lot more days in spring, summer and fall, and cut my winters at 3 days, and with the 30 day setting if I want to go really long because I am working on a project I have that option with out having to wait for the next season to do so. One thing to consider though, if you do longer seasons you dont harvest fields as often so food from them becomes even more rare and you need to lean on your hunters/fishermen more. There are advantages and disadvantages to both short and long seasons.

You seem to be the premier authority on this game as far as I've found on TH-cam , I have a question. Your thousands of hours will help me settle it - I have heard in regards to equipping a two-handed tool to pick up stuff faster like you said, and then someone had mentioned that it is, but you only pick up 1 unit of the item. And with empty hands you pick up 2? Is this true? I can remember seeing picking up 2 sticks at a time and sometime 1 but I thought that was the difference between ground sticks and the standing ones not what is in your hands. Hearing different things, maybe pre patched tips or something. Thanks for your videos!
Pretty great question will have to field test this and get back to you. My initial thought is that it doesn't make a difference and there is a difference between ground and standing sticks!
@@simply_syrup1457 I'm leaning that way too, I must have gotten that advice from someone who mistakenly picked up a stick on the ground with 2 hands full and maybe picked up a standing stick (qty 2 or 3) with empty hands and maybe misjudged the situation
Going slow early on, and throughout the game is key. You don't want to run across bandits at early stages, and one shot from their bow/crossbow can kill you and end your dynasty real quick if it hits your head. I always carry a melee weapon because you can block with it.
I think it depends on the strategy on handling bandits. They're rather simple minded atm whereby you can just move out of their chase zone and they will stop chasing you. You can also bum rush the archer and one good hit to the head takes them down. That's how I got a crossbow on first Spring.
Be careful! Food will rot in your inventory as well. There are no freezers in Medieval Dyansty. However, if you throw the food on the ground it will rot much faster then in your food storage!
I really should try playing this game without unlimited weight. I love playing hard mode everywere else but something about carry weight drives me batty i dont think i have even tried since i fount the unlimited check mark....
Here is a tip no one ever gives or talks about but will burn your @ss if you don't pay attention to it. Personal Crafting will cause you major issues with village progress if you don't pay attention to it. Let me give an example of me getting burned on my first play through. I was doing well, had 15 or so villagers and every thing was doing OK. What happened was I completely misunderstood the priorities of the game. I thought it was solely about recruiting villagers and putting them to work. So the more I utilized the villagers the less I was crafting. Where it broke was when I achieved the Mine at 5000 Building. I went and built it and built extra housing for 6 miners and watched the Iron roll in. So when I went to the Smithy to start making tools I was nowhere near the Production level I needed to be to build Smithy III which is where all the Iron work is. I was a couple of thousand points shy. So make sure you continue to craft or you will get burned as well. Another tip to bring Production up is Stone Knives, make them by the billions............
Good video, quick question, what % should I put my workers on? I’m currently at 50% because I don’t want them to work to death and make them unsatisfied and have the risk of losing them.
I believe the production % only determines the amount produced and not time worked. It's just an allocation on how much stuff and which ones they should focus on. It doesn't affect their mood, or atleast not in my experience 6 years into the game.
Love the game great tips. I was very hype to finally play this game in console and even tho i love the aspect of building and town its so peaceful i often die cus i fall asleep playing so my character keep running until die by an animal or hunger lol. THEY NEED TO ADD MORE BANDITS AND RAIDS TO YOU VILLAGES . Other wise so much peace will make a lot of ppl stop playing
Even in video games we forget about the old and aged people. Like this guy says, when recruiting, try to go younger and not older. It happens in real life. You know... the game looks cool but seems we need to study it to learn how to even play, my god.
200+ hours I'm in year 14, my 1st born is 11 and I've got a mega city by medieval standards. (i raised building limit). kind of getting bored now though. everything is too easy. I've got too much of everything. even got over 1 million coins. just trying to get a few more achievements before being burned out
I also have another question. What if I want to relocate my Village because I don't like the location what is the best route to take? Do I have to destroy everything and rebuild it all?
Nope, the corners of the fields are always facing the 4 points on the compass I believe. The only way not to have goofy looking crooked fields is to plan your settlement accordingly. Something I wish I had known ha ha
I have not, but I've really been thinking about it. I think I will make some videos for entertainment first, before jumping into a playthrough. Just a video or two to test out the waters, and try to find my voice a little bit. If I do make one I will dedicate the video to you, for being the first to encourage me to make the leap!
Hi i dont know What to do anymore. I cant get my workers to work. I have given Them houses / food / water and firewood. They have there Worning stations with tools . But nothing. There is a red sign under Them all. Dont know What that means. I just gat married that did not help. I am pist of now. What is wrong with this game. Pleeeease help someone
Are you on xbox? I found it infuriating too. I clicked around a whole bunch until I got to 'manage assignments' then right bumper to get to the menu where you actually give them the jobs within the assignment. Took a lot of clicking though. It's tricky
Just play with infinite carry weight, problem solved. Weight limit in such a game is just stupid, a major annoyance and time wasting. Same for fast crafting.
@@Kashmere34 guilty as charge i play fair at first but when i got to the next year and i extended seasons to 10 days i was able to build a lot before the year… when the year passed i had to pay over 5000 coins in taxes and my last safe was before 6:15pm meaning i dont have much time to sell stuff and pay taxes. Lol NOOB me lol i only about 1.5k lol
if you don't have unlimited weight and stamina turned in then you have way too much time in your hands. why make 10 trips to build a house when you can make one? totally takes the fun out of the game.
@@KayD that's not even close to being the same thing lol. Why would I waste time moving bricks one by one when I can use a wheelbarrow or a forklift the do the job alot quicker and save time. Taking 100 trips when you can take one for the same result is pointless. Especially in a GAME there is no need for it.

you can put the ripe and unripe berries and other foods in the compost bin and it will become rot as well

You earned a "like" on the first tip lol.

make sure you have autosave so if you die you only lose a few minutes of play time

How do you get a horse if you can’t build a Horse Stable though? When you purchase an animal you have to send it to its respective home, right?

Animals definitely do not make specific sounds. My game is so void of sound even at 100 max volume they're still zero sound for this game

Fields can only be placed on the cardinal points...i.e. East to West, or North to South.
placing fields on Xbox is really annoying not being able to rotate the blueprint like other buildings

This game is way too much grinding for me....ive spend like 5 irl hours picking up rocks and sticks. Cool idea but way way too much grinding
Just play with infinite carry weight, problem solved. Weight limit in such a game is just stupid, a major annoyance and time wasting.
Same for fast crafting.
Just play in god mode and you will fine
Or just click unlimited carry weight in settings lol
You can do that if you wanna play easy. But to play how is meant to be is hard and time consuming.

@@Kashmere34 guilty as charge i play fair at first but when i got to the next year and i extended seasons to 10 days i was able to build a lot before the year… when the year passed i had to pay over 5000 coins in taxes and my last safe was before 6:15pm meaning i dont have much time to sell stuff and pay taxes. Lol NOOB me lol i only about 1.5k lol
Started a new game. First 2 days use unlimited all so i can build my house and storage quickly. Back to fair but im taking it easy with building now

thke things slow? in a game where it takes you 6+ hours to build a 6 house village. Just so you understand the irony of that comment. 🤣
if you don't have unlimited weight and stamina turned in then you have way too much time in your hands. why make 10 trips to build a house when you can make one? totally takes the fun out of the game.

@@KayD that's not even close to being the same thing lol. Why would I waste time moving bricks one by one when I can use a wheelbarrow or a forklift the do the job alot quicker and save time. Taking 100 trips when you can take one for the same result is pointless. Especially in a GAME there is no need for it.
Love medieval games this a good one but the lack of vocabulary is annoying. It ain't as good as kingdom come. too basic
