    Suspect that you are not taking into account the temperature that you have tested in, I have a new Niro 4 EV and even in this current chilly temperature am seeing approx 260 miles. Failing that you are driving with your divers boots on! Since taking delivery I am absolutely blown away with how good the Niro is, superbly quiet, refined, little body roll, and an all round good performer. I also tested the Renault Megane EV which while excellent had the 'feature' of emulating a crappy old automatic with creep when in drive and being unable to be brought to a complete stop with regenerative braking. If only they had not opted to emulate a limitation of an old auto box, it would probably have been my first choice.
    That being said, for an all round well screwed together and well specified car I think the Kia Niro EV is very hard to beat!

      Pleased to hear you're enjoying your vehicle, but we're confident with the results we attained especially the wide range of vehicles reviewed (in all conditions).

      Thank you, glad you're enjoying it!
      That's some incredible range you're getting in that model - more than what the manufacturer would claim. You'd therefore be looking at over 400 miles in the Skoda or VW ;)

    I suspect that, if you bought a good spec e-Niro 64 - say ‘21-22 run-out’ model - for maybe £30-35k, that it’d probably prove to be a savvy move!
    This mk2 is better in many ways, but range hasn’t changed much for the extra price. Still a great car as it quietly competes with, and outdoes, models from a level or two above.

      Agreed on the e-Niro front!

    4:40 People need to understand that 80 kW is a lot of energy and with the current technology, it's best to wait a little more not to degrade the lithium prematurely.

    Surely the range is dependent on which driving mode you're using - eco, normal or sport. Our old 2021 Eniro does 280 to 300 miles. We drive in Eco mode and don't do much motorway driving. Mainly around town with occasional long drives. Our average mileage is 4.4 per Kw averaged over 20,000 miles. Reviewers should take this into account.

      We always test in normal, with everything switched on as most drivers will use their vehicles. Of course you'll have some who will drive in town and in eco only, while others on the motorway in sport mode only. Our tests are what most will achieve.

    Lots of nit-picking on this review, it's far better spec than other brands, which would make you spend far more on a extras list !!

      Sorry for not being part of Kia's marketing and actually reviewing the product.

    Was the disappointing range due to low outside temperature? It’s been very cold in the UK recently.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We set the in-cabin temp to the same level in all our tests (19-20c), even in hot climate conditions to ensure a level playing field. But yes, colder climates will generally negatively affect EV range!

      @spsmith45 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TotallyEV Yes, in recent temperatures range should be down around 30% so that would explain the the disappointing range. 250-280 should be about normal for that battery. Thx for the regular detailed reviews.

      To add, our Zoe 22kwh gets arounfpd 90 miles in summer, 60 in winter.

      Not quite, the biggest downside is the heat pump. The original Kona EV was ironically around the same time and easily achieved 260 in our tests. Nonetheless, glad you like the reviews!

    I've owned a Kia e-Niro 4+ for 2 years now, and I love it for it's very high spec and value. This new version really seems like a step backwards - the power train is no better, still front wheel drive, poorer range and charging speed, and a ridiculously high price! When I change my car in a year or two, there will be much better options for me than this new Niro - a really disappointing missed opportunity from Kia!

    • @TotallyEV

      Great car you have, and agreed on the points you've highlighted. What range are you getting on your vehicle?

    • @ralpharmsby8040

      I've just made a comment below about the mode you drive the Kia in - eco, normal or sport. I'm guessing sport mode will reduce the range.
