It's funny because I'm watching this on my iPhone, and right after Jeremy punched the screen, the "Low Battery" warning popped up on my phone. Jeremy, you're like some kind of magician or something.
Claire Redfield wears a red vest, her primary outfit from her game appearances. The only film in the series to feature Chris Redfield, a character from the video games. Ironically, Chris is one of the most featured elements in the games, showing up as a playable character in most of the main series games. (at around 5 mins) During the intro one of the snipers remarks "Biohazard terminated." Biohazard is the title of the Resident Evil series in Japan. Milla Jovovich's first Resident Evil movie since becoming a mother. Although never mentioned explicitly in the final cut, the script clarifies that despite Wesker's injection Alice's blood system continues to fight off the antibodies. This is the first live-action movie based on a video game to be in 3-D.
I hate the Resident Evil movies but I bought this one just to watch the elements from Resident Evil 5 being put in it. Haha, I'm a sucker for Wesker, Chris, and Claire involvement..plus the creepy executioner majini. The video games are glorious compared to the POS films.
he is talking about AVPR i think and that was terrible but normal AVP was PG-13, not R-Rated and it wasnt great but it was watchable, a little. but everyone has their own opinion, i think it is decent but the second movie sucks ass.
I have to agree it is like they are trying to destroy the resident evil franchise, bad enough the games are getting worst, thank god they did not make a metal gear solid movie.
Of the 6 live action movies ( so far ) this one is my favorite. I loved the 3D effects in IMAX & that's the main reason there was so many slow motion scenes. As for Shawn Roberts playing Albert Wesker, I'm fine with it. His voice is already familiar to me since he's been in many movies as well as done voice acting in other video games.
@vodoojeff cool cool. What did u like about it? I guess I have seen too many action movies in my life. I can't like every one I see anymore. It needs to have good story and good character/acting. And if not, at least good shooting scenes.
I was watching this movie in the theater with my 3d glasses on and that first scene with the person turning around and the zombie appearing scared the hell out of me.
I feel lately that the Resident Evil games are trying to be more like the Resident Evil movies. As the movies have very little scares or horror at all, instead just mindless constant action.
I’m watching this movie right now . It’s the 8th time I’ve watched it . Everything he said is absolutely correct yet I still continue to watch it when it’s on
yeah i agreed with you i dont why people didnt like this movie enjoyed it for it was and alice played by Milla Jovovich is the sexest women of the resident evil franchise and im glad she back in every resident evil movie and her husband Paul WS Anderson is a lucky guy to have her
Santiago Vásquez Gómez I do played the games and I don't give a shit what people say that the games are different than the movies I enjoyed the movies whatever it is what is and that just now they make these movies these days
chandler helt not to me im a fan of the movies and I'm not a hater on these movies at all and I played the games except for RE2 the game I didn't played that on I played all the others except for 2 and I think Paul Ws Anderson is a good director and I liked his first mortal kombat and AVP and I know not everybody won't like his movies we all have our opinion and that okay just don't watch these movies in the first just played the games for those who hate
if you look at this movie as one giant music video (the music was by far the best thing) its pretty awesome. Yes impossible physics, BUT the fx and action are pretty damn cool in slow mo and with as kick as soundtrack.
I respect your opinion dude. You're awesome, but I do disagree. The only thing I had a problem with Afterlife is Chris Redfield. I mean, Chris is supposed to be buff as heck but they made the guy from The Flash Captain Cold be him. Regardless, I think this movie is way better than Extinction and Retribution
i just bought underworld awakening (in 3d blu-ray) and i just thought that i should have bought this RE in 3d rather than UA. all i am saying is this is better than Underworld Awakening. i wish i can return UA and just get this one on blu-ray....Jeremy i know you didn't like this movie but just want to know which one do you prefer, this RE or UA? (btw love your reviews)
Claire Redfield wears a red vest, her primary outfit from her game appearances. The first scene is the beginning of the T-virus infection in Japan. It takes place years before the main plot of the film. at around 5 mins) During the intro one of the snipers remarks "Biohazard terminated." Biohazard is the title of the Resident Evil series in Japan. This is the first live-action movie based on a video game to be in 3-D. Milla Jovovich's first Resident Evil movie since becoming a mother. The first Resident Evil movie not to feature nudity. The intention of director Paul W.S. Anderson was that this would be the first film in the series to have an optimistic ending. The producers, however, wanted an intense cliffhanger as the ending. The director added the massive attack, leaving the film open ended. The fight between Chris and Claire against Wesker is almost identical to the fight in Resident Evil 5 (2009) where Wesker fights Chris and Sheva. First film where Chris and Jill are both present. However Chris and Jill never meet or share any scenes in the film, unlike the Resident Evil games where the two are very close. In fact the couple have worked together in Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil: Revelations (2012) and Resident Evil 5 (2009). Chris and Claire confronting Wesker is slightly reminiscent of Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000). Coincidently Wesker first shows his superhuman powers in Code Veronica to Chris and Claire same as in this film Wesker first uses his powers on Chris and Claire in the films. Ali Larter missed seven episodes of her TV series Heroes (2006) in order to appear in the film. During filming, Milla Jovovich accidentally shot out a $100,000 camera. Although never mentioned explicitly in the final cut, the script clarifies that despite Wesker's injection Alice's blood system continues to fight off the antibodies. Despite prominent billing for actress Spencer Locke, her screen time is very limited since she appears briefly at the end. Additionally, the character of K-Mart does not utter a single line of dialogue during the entire film (excluding archive footage from Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)).
8D I was wondering if you were gonna be reviewing "The Town" I liked the trailer when I went to see Inception, but the new trailers have been kinda suckish. I was hoping for a Jeremy Jahns opinion.
0:01 - 0:04 Oh, how blissfully ignorant we were, Jeremy. That distinction clearly falls upon Ridley Scott and Shane Black with Covenant (2017) and *The* Predator (2018).
Jeremy, I know you probably get thousands of requests a day to review movies that people suggest, but I think you need to review the Matrix trilogy. But please, don't review 2 or 3 until you fully understand the architect speech at the end of Reloaded. People's gripes about 2 and 3 were caused by that, but that speech is what makes 2 and 3 make sense, and it changes what happened in the original. Anyway, it'd be cool if you did that. Thanks, man.
@Anth150 Thank you for a comment. I am a big RE fan and im happy to see that a non RE fan can see that their just throwing stuff in there. Cause thats what it was.
@Tinfoilpain Motion captured is still filmed. Every action seen in the film was filmed, and then had the CG overlaid on it. The only thing that was pure CG with no real world part filmed was some of the environments.
I thought we were being mature here. I wasn't trashing RE4, its my favorite game!!! But its the game that moved too far from the orignal story that its even hard to call it Resident Evil.
@JeremyJahns I don't really have one, and I never said your opinions were wrong, or right as a matter of fact. I don't dislike your video at all, I hope you didn't get my comment that way. I just thought as a review it should help people to make up their own minds, and in your video I didn't feel encouraged to think if the movie would be interesting for me or not. I have watched it and I liked it and if I have seen your review before I could have got the wrong idea, that's all I'm saying.
Thanks for the review, I've been waiting for it. Though I can't rationalize the over the top survivability of people throughout, I know that Alice is apparently superhuman so that would explain the plane crash. The rest? Yeah, mindless. Thanks again.
I agree. Unless we see some changes, Resident Evil stopped being survival horror after RE4, and some people would argue that it was already gone by then. As a kid who grew up loving (and being mortally terrified of) Resident Evil 2, it's hard to watch. It's one thing to see a franchise suddenly die off or retire, but it's even more painful to see it being distorted into....whatever the fuck it is now.
Not to be too much of a nerd but if you snap the cables on any elevator, (Even if it was an original Otis) it would only fall a few feet before the safety brakes caught it. That is actually how Otis convinced people that elevators were safe. He would do these demonstrations where he would cut the cables of an elevator he was in and the brakes caught him every time. But the bomb would still kill you.
just watched it, some fun action and cool cinematography but there was no need for some of the slow motion and i totally agree with the bullshit physics, i still dont know how she walked out of the planed without injury? i did enjoy some of the 3d though and i liked the soundtrtack.
Jeremy, please review resident evil damnation! A lot of people need to be aware of it. Thanks and you rock! You deserve more reviews than Ray William Johnson.
Agreed! This guy knows his stuff! Good Job.
Joeeee
Damnnnn how has nobody like super lost their minds over this crossover?
Oh wow
Damn if only we knew 😭
hamburger
It's funny because I'm watching this on my iPhone, and right after Jeremy punched the screen, the "Low Battery" warning popped up on my phone. Jeremy, you're like some kind of magician or something.
People shouldn't hate on Shawn Roberts for portraying Wesker, shawn at least did a lot better then Jason O'mara in Re:extinction
bloodyTyrant66 you got that right
Indeed
i thought Agent Smith was killed by Neo in Matrix Revolutions what the hell he is doing in Resident Evill movies
Got misplaced I guess
I thought AVP was alright. Was it bad? Yeah. But it was a guilty pleasure for me. Now, AVPR on the other hand..... yeah, that one sucked all the way.
TJ Jordan it didn't suck it's the worst movie ever made
It's so bad, it's forgettable
Oh shit, you had me for a second when you said own it on Blu-Ray LOL XD
same here i was surprise too when he said
Jahns really improved over the years huh. Sounds a lot more confident now.
Yes
Claire Redfield wears a red vest, her primary outfit from her game appearances.

This is the first live-action movie based on a video game to be in 3-D.
What's funny is I know these movies are money grabbers, I know that they are pointless, I know they're terrible, but I still love them so much
wow you're shit lols
"Acting lessons from agent smith."
Awesome.
I hate the Resident Evil movies but I bought this one just to watch the elements from Resident Evil 5 being put in it. Haha, I'm a sucker for Wesker, Chris, and Claire involvement..plus the creepy executioner majini. The video games are glorious compared to the POS films.
Gotta say it: that Wesker/Agent Smith impression was just awesome.
anyone else realize the fight with wesker was taken almost directly from RE:5
It's funny how Wesker is by far the oldest character in the games and yet the actor playing him in the films is younger than all the other actors.
whats wrong with avp?
he is talking about AVPR i think and that was terrible but normal AVP was PG-13, not R-Rated and it wasnt great but it was watchable, a little. but everyone has their own opinion, i think it is decent but the second movie sucks ass.
1- Great
2- Better
3- meh...
4- guilty pleasure level achieved!
Finally someone who doesn't hate the movies!
1- Fantastic.
2- um...
3- Hey it's cool!
4- what...um...
Kinda Hate to say It but i Really Enjoyed AVP. This shit tho Sucks 👏
Tyvontae Classix but AVP was at least a fun movie.
agent smith may be cool, but he doesn't have awesome red eyes!
i have liked all the Resednt Evil movies, apart for Retribution
Retribution was awesome, extinction was a let down, I did enjoy RE, Apocalypse, Afterlife but I disliked Final Chapter it was rushed
@@erikt3162 to be fair they are all movies a can go back and watch over and over again.............the animated movies are also pretty good
@@erikt3162 and apparently Netflix is making a live-action series or something
@LukCPL Thanks. I can't wait to see it, but it will only premiere next week here in Brazil.
I have to agree it is like they are trying to destroy the resident evil franchise, bad enough the games are getting worst, thank god they did not make a metal gear solid movie.
I am stilled stunned they made this many Resident Evil movies....
The way I can describe these movies is fan fiction in film form. They're okay fan fiction but not that good.
Lilah Holly nah, even fan fiction has the potential of being better, this thing just looks like it was written by stoners
WHATS THE NAME OF THAT THING IN THE MOVIE WITH THE BIG HAMMER ??????????
Of the 6 live action movies ( so far ) this one is my favorite. I loved the 3D effects in IMAX & that's the main reason there was so many slow motion scenes. As for Shawn Roberts playing Albert Wesker, I'm fine with it. His voice is already familiar to me since he's been in many movies as well as done voice acting in other video games.
Great review.
How does it compare to the other resident evil movies?
lol. The paint brush comparison was priceless
@vodoojeff cool cool. What did u like about it?
I guess I have seen too many action movies in my life. I can't like every one I see anymore. It needs to have good story and good character/acting. And if not, at least good shooting scenes.
Well I personally love the resident evil movies, this one in particular. I respect yours and everyone else's opinion though.
+jack wilson same for me, I love his reviews but I loved every resident evil movie
+jack wilson I love them as guilty pleasures.
+jack wilson I love any Resident Evil movie GOOD or BAD. So dislike.
Reference to LoZ? Oh Jeremiah, how we love your reviews!

I totally agree
Guys his profile picture is a troll he's just giving it to you
I was watching this movie in the theater with my 3d glasses on and that first scene with the person turning around and the zombie appearing scared the hell out of me.
Resident evil as a game sucks these days so it makes sense that the movies are shit
I feel lately that the Resident Evil games are trying to be more like the Resident Evil movies. As the movies have very little scares or horror at all, instead just mindless constant action.
Sam Forrester so far i have not dislike a resident evil game but 6
robbyw98 what about orc?
I’m watching this movie right now . It’s the 8th time I’ve watched it . Everything he said is absolutely correct yet I still continue to watch it when it’s on
Resident Evil Afterlife is awesome
Ehem......please play the games and notice the difference....
In the guiltiest of pleasures, perhaps.
yeah i agreed with you i dont why people didnt like this movie enjoyed it for it was and alice played by Milla Jovovich is the sexest women of the resident evil franchise and im glad she back in every resident evil movie and her husband Paul WS Anderson is a lucky guy to have her

Man I wish someone would do a good recreation of castlevania
But was the 3D good?
How come they're still making these. !?!
Hey Jeremy. Why not make a video with you're thoughts on this years PAX.
Couldn't expect more from this!
I knew it would be crap since I saw the trailer
Great review Jeremy! And as always thanks for saving us some money
So Jeremy , dude when's your first review of a video game going to be ? And what games are you thinking of reviewing ?
what are your opinions on Paul WS Anderson directing the 3 musketeers movie?
The action in the cut-scenes from the game are far more exciting than the "action" scenes in the CG films
i just bought underworld awakening (in 3d blu-ray) and i just thought that i should have bought this RE in 3d rather than UA. all i am saying is this is better than Underworld Awakening. i wish i can return UA and just get this one on blu-ray....Jeremy i know you didn't like this movie but just want to know which one do you prefer, this RE or UA? (btw love your reviews)
did you like any of the previous resident evil movies? That will give me a reference point on your taste for zombie movies.
@XXXbmansterXXX in the 3rd one there's actually some sort of smart zombies that can run over you or something.
Claire Redfield wears a red vest, her primary outfit from her game appearances.

8D I was wondering if you were gonna be reviewing "The Town" I liked the trailer when I went to see Inception, but the new trailers have been kinda suckish. I was hoping for a Jeremy Jahns opinion.
So did you watch this movie in 3d?, because that's the reason of why they promoted "the avatar technology" behind it.
Out of curiosity, how bad was Ultraviolet?
On a massive 'old Jeremy talking about Resi' kick, and couldn't be happier. Dropping joy in each comments section
Damn JJ, you went double time on that movie's ass!! I salute you for being brutally honesty.
0:01 - 0:04 Oh, how blissfully ignorant we were, Jeremy. That distinction clearly falls upon Ridley Scott and Shane Black with Covenant (2017) and *The* Predator (2018).
you didn't mention the 3D, how was it?
the only thing that i liked was the music!!! can some tell me the name of the music of the movie??
@Tinfoilpain ur talkin bout avatar right? like the one wit sigourney weaver and sam worthington? seriously? it was filmed...
What about Event Horizon, The first RE film, Soldier and Mortal kombat?
Finally a reviewer who mentions that it isn't a resident evil movie anymore.
@JeremyJahns What would your score be? Mine is under -9000.
hey jeremy i would like to know what you think about the upcoming movie Legend of The Guardians
@Tinfoilpain They used motion capture but yes, they did film Avatar.
@andresruval what's the other franchise?
Jeremy, i ask u to review the first 3 before the new film comes out. Please, i wopuld really like to see u review them
@FabioCrow07770 Not saying destroying Wesker as killing them, I mean destroying their characteristics and what makes their character themselves.
Jeremy, I know you probably get thousands of requests a day to review movies that people suggest, but I think you need to review the Matrix trilogy. Your review was hilarious and I loved it.
To be honest, the first Resident Evil (the movie, that is) was the best.
@Anth150 Thank you for a comment. I am a big RE fan and im happy to see that a non RE fan can see that their just throwing stuff in there. Cause thats what it was.
@Yusoko18 lol Sengoku Basara is based on the game Basara. and Basara based on a real history
i would like to see you review the first 3 resident evil movies
@Tinfoilpain
Motion captured is still filmed. Every action seen in the film was filmed, and then had the CG overlaid on it.
The only thing that was pure CG with no real world part filmed was some of the environments.
Do you just reply to people's comments with the intention of just trashing the games?
Whoa! Been a while since you totally kicked a film to the curb like that. Bravo!
Great review for a bad film!
LOL great review jeremy. Question: Where did you get that EWWWW sound effect. It's great.
I thought we were being mature here. I wasn't trashing RE4, its my favorite game!!! But its the game that moved too far from the orignal story that its even hard to call it Resident Evil.
anyone else watch this because of the sunglasses?
@Uroboros85 agreed. Hitman was OK for fans (i'm the fans of the series), but Good for newcomers.
Why are you comparing this movie with other movies that are unrelated?
That mini heart attack when i for a sec i thought jeremy said that he would buy this moive on blu ray..
Well, I have decided that this is one of those movies I'll see this month, and I'm sticking to it.
I just hope I'll enjoy it.
@Baskylas he did! watch it again!
That doesn't mean Resident Evil(the first movie) is a bad movie, its actually great.
I loved all four of these movies. I agree with almost everything he said about the movie but i still like it.
Or the Left 4 Dead games. Right Jeremy?
I would really like to hear your critic on Matrix trilogy:)
I'm guessing you also liked The Last Airbender movie?
don't sequels usually get made when the previous films are considered hits?
Thanks for the review, I've been waiting for it. Though I can't rationalize the over the top survivability of people throughout, I know that Alice is apparently superhuman so that would explain the plane crash. The rest? Yeah, mindless. Thanks again.
The only thing I liked was at the end where the guy get stuck in with mutant Wesker and says "I just wanna go home."
Did I just watch two people respect each others opinions? There's still hope in this world...
Actually, you are completely right. Wesker and Resident Evil came YEARS before the Matrix.
Not to be too much of a nerd but if you snap the cables on any elevator, (Even if it was an original Otis) it would only fall a few feet before the safety brakes caught it. did any of you guys see it in 3d? the 3d was great and i like it
just watched it, some fun action and cool cinematography but there was no need for some of the slow motion and i totally agree with the bullshit physics, i still dont know how she walked out of the planed without injury?
i did enjoy some of the 3d though and i liked the soundtrtack.
Jeremy, please review resident evil damnation! A lot of people need to be aware of it. Thanks and you rock! You deserve more reviews than Ray William Johnson.
