My sister took her life in Feb of 2021. I never heard this song before. And when I listened to it I never cried so hard in my life. U sing it absolutely beautiful. This was one of her favorite songs. I listened to others sing it but in my heart no one could sing it like u. I listen to it over and over I feel close to my sister when I hear your voice. GOD Bless You
I'm so sorry, Lisa. May God comfort you and give you peace. I lost a loved one to suicide too. I pray you are free of any spirit of guilt and God can use you as an instrument to comfort others who have had a family member go home too soon. I pray you know Jesus loves you, can heal your broken heart, and that your sister is in Heaven where she is now whole and at peace and you will be reunited. God bless and protect you in Jesus's name, Amen.
My Grandmother would start crying when she heard this song. From being homesick for Ireland. And I know she would love this song even more if she was still alive today. You, sir, have an amazing gift and awesome voice.
I know it's really late but I just wanted to say that this brought me to tears. This was my dads favorite song, he passed away 2 years ago. We played this song at his funeral. I haven't heard this song since. It just really reminded me of him. Thank you for doing this song.
I don't know how many versions of Danny Boy I have heard in my lifetime being from Ireland myself but this is by miles and miles the most beautiful and touching I have ever heard and I don't know how to send my appreciation for the gift this is, touched my heart, shed a tear, can't stop listening. Simply beautiful
I requested this song a while back! My mother had a nephew named Danny whenever she heard this song it touched her. Mom passed away in hospice, and the last song she really heard and was aware of was this one by Celtic women. You did an incredible job, as always!Thank you so much! 🙄
My best friend named Danny. Requested this song for his funeral and taps. My son played taps on his trombone and I sang this song the best I could. Peace for you and your family. Music is an international language that touches everyone. No politics no religion no hatred.
As an older country singer with no tech savvy/skills, I am in awe of what you've done here. You have harmonized and arranged your gifted voice so beautifully. I'm amazed.
Dear Peter, My name is Emily, I'm 21 and live in Cincinnati Ohio. A few months ago I was in a car accident and lost my ability to walk, since I was rear ended I had to drop out of school and quit my job. Now I spend my days lay in bed trying to find a way to pass time, and seeing doctor after doctor in hopes to regain the power and strength in my back and legs. It's not easy being my age and wondering if I'll be able to walk again or not while all of my friends are out having fun and being successful. I stumbled across your videos this morning in my daily attempt to keep my mind occupied and I most say I haven't been this happy in months! I'm a huge fan of a cappella, medleys, disney, LOTR and all of the classics! Your videos have brought me so much joy and I can't thank you enough. You are so talented and I love your positive energy, keep up the great work you're amazing, and thanks again for giving me such a great day! With much gratitude, Your new fan!

I love this song so much! My father died in 1968 at the age of 37 years old. He was a trumpet player and singer and I remember he played this song. I listen to this song every morning and it brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for "Danny Boy" it totally touches my heart!
This is probably the cover of Danny Boy that I've enjoyed most. Easily. Your head voice has an unbelievable tone, and I love the way that the rest of the harmonies dropped out during those melodic climaxes. Just amazing... Totally great.
Peter, thank you so much for singing this song. My great-grandmother would sing this song at funerals of The Departed. Sadly, her son was sent to war or two. This song Come True for her. While her son was away, she passed when he was away. Her son came and did go to her grave and said prayer for her. The song has a deep family connection for me since this has been true and our lives. My mother has passed. She love this version of the song. She would cry when she listened to it. And now, I cry when I think about how it affected her. Thank you, for creating this beautiful version. I will always cherish it.
My great-grandmother also sang this song at funerals. She also died while her son was in war II. Now, her great-great-granddaughter sings this song. This song is approximately 500 years old and has been modified over the years. But it's still a beautiful memorial of our fallen soldiers.
Who is still listening to this in 2019? This is one of my favorite songs to listen to and to sing. You did a tremendous job and this is so good, your voice sounds amazing
What a beautiful crystal clear voice it could only come from God.....I take it for granted you also have perfect pitch ......I'm 65 yo and it's been a long long time since a song sung so beautiful brought a tear to my old eyes.
An old man I used to visit at an old folks home used to sing this song every time I came to visit him. He's been gone for years now, but I randomly feel his presence sometimes and I'll start humming this song. I feel like he'd appreciate the way you sing this song. Absolutely my favorite cover.
I remember this song as a child, I randomly started humming the song and had to look it up, although I can't find the exact one I heard as a kid, this one I will continue to listen to, thank you for bringing back the good memories of my childhood and helping me even if it was a moment forgetting the bad memories
Brother, things will get better. In your hardest times remember that someone loves you, be it man or God, someone loves you. Stay strong and God bless you sir
My grandmother was born in Glasgow Scotland in 1892. She has long ago passed , but she would have loved this. She came to the US in 1912 and never returned to her homeland. Thanks for this beautiful rendition
This cover has been added to my list of songs to play at my funeral when I die. I'm perfectly healthy, but when I leave this world I damn well plan to make sure I'm remembered.
This song is so calming...I could listen for days at a time. Your voice is perfect for it! My brain is still trying to process the beauty of all of it. Please never stop!
My dad's favorite song to sing - he's 82, and his health is declining - I'm putting together his favorite music! This and Loch Lomond are favorites, Scots/Irish - Clan Chisholm of the Highlands (American branch here) Beautifully done!

Honestly, this song holds a very dear spot in my heart. Just hearing it causes very emotional feelings to come to me, and I can't help but feel melancholic. But the way Peter Hollens handles this song with such care, such finesse, such ease. It just.. I can't stress how beautiful you've made this song, Peter. Thank you so much. I only wish she could have heard you sing it...so lovely! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful songs with us on you tube, donna hilden
Being 1/2 Irish myself this song means a lot to me. So very beautiful reminds me of my brother (who is still with us thank goodness) and my cousin (who passed away years ago)
I love this song. It was one of my grandpas favorites. Beautifully done. And now for a song request. Due to the death of Gene Wilder, may he rest in peace, I think a cover of Pure Imagination would be a fitting tribute to him.
When my son was 3 days old I started singing Danny Boy to him, probably becuase he is a boy, but regardless he quieted and seems to love it. So I searched versions of Danny Boy and this was on the top. I have this on repeat for him when he is super fussy. Thank you for sharing your God given talent with the world. wow thank you so much Kaleigh :) Really appreciate it! If you like the song you can get it for free at patreon.com/peterhollens if you sign up to give just $1/month! AND I'll put your name on the physical copies of my new Holiday album coming out at the end of this year! :D
I found out tonight that a boy I grew up with, a good friend of my brother's, committed suicide. His name was Danny. This was the first thing I listened to and I just want you to know that, though I am crying, your voice on this song gave me a little peace. Thank you for that, Peter.
This is one of my favorite songs. I thought your rendition was a tad up-tempo for such a somber song, but your vocals were stunningly beautiful. Honestly, that's the only teeny weeny "complaint" I would have. Great job! 10 out of 10!
Wow... This has to be the most moving rendition of this song I've ever heard. Had I found this version 6 month ago I'd have wanted to play this at my fathers funeral.
Peter Hollens, I love watching your videos here! They are INCREDIBLE!!!!.......have you ever considered combining your videos that are here on you tube, and selling them on DVD? I KNOW my dad (86 years old), would LOVE to watch these (he doesn't use a computer)....he was involved in a Barbershop Harmony music group many years ago, but they had to cancel it after many of the older men grew sick or passed away. He LOVES music like this, I just thought it would be great for you to put a variety of your videos together on one DVD.....like all of your Irish/Scottish music on one, organize them so it would have a common theme or mix them up. Perhaps you could take requests from those of us who enjoy your videos to request specific videos to be put on a DVD....I'm sure they would make GREAT GIFTS for birthdays, Christmas, or just because....I hope you consider it and let me know if it is something you can do......does anyone else on here like this idea?
***** You're welcome. As always... :-D Have you ever thought about performing Caledonia? To me, it's on the same page as Danny Boy in a way. Or at least close by. It's a bit happier, but still kinda sad and very beautiful. Well, to me, at least.
Good Lord! Every video you make is so gorgeous and well thought out. This has to be one of my new favorite videos of yours. Thanks for continuing to make these amazing videos and following your passion. You inspire a lot of people every single day and I'm one of them! THANK YOU. :'D
I am so glad he finally did this and Loch Lomond. I am a French Horn player so both of these songs/pieces have a special place in my heart. Thanks Peter.
meh, its good. I didn't care for it that much because the electric guitar while good in practice doesn't really fit the original core mood of the song as much as I think an acapella version could in my opinion. He has a good voice and all its just not up to par with the original for me. Peter has regularly surpassed the originals of many songs so that's why I'm hoping he will do a cover. :)
Hey Peter, could you please consider doing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel? They're some of my favourite songs and fit your voice and style perfectly, I think. I would also love to hear Bohemian Rhapsody (like A Capella Science did, you should collab with him) or anything else from Queen, I Will Always Love You, My Heart Will Go On, Only Time, The Voice, Conquest of Paradise, Over the Rainbow, Hello, Imagine, I Heard It Through The Grapevine or O Fortuna by Carl Orff (this is only a selection). I am proud to be a Hollens Family member and really love and appreciate all your work (especially the collaborations - you're my favourite musical TH-cam channel), wish you all the best and hope that you continue this channel for a long time. I would be very happy if you took note of me and actually covered one ore more of my suggestions! Sincerely, Gumbledalf
For any band nerds out there, just imagine 2:09 played with a full horn line. 27th lancers used to do it and it was amazing but they aren’t around anymore. This was so well done, thank you peter.
I seriously hate when these selfish hacker groups attack beautiful artists like Peter who just wants to do his best to put out beautiful songs like this. Like why? Why can't we just love and laugh, why should we be bothered by this meaningless idiocy? I really do hate it! Hope you can restore your videos Peter, I love and support your work and am looking out for a lovely Hollens Christmas :D

The beauty of the lyrics and the beauty of your voice bring me to tears. Thankyou.
Some tinkering with the lyrics, but overall one of the better renditions. (Deanna Durbin's still the best, though, I think)

So much fricking talent. Also your voice fits so perfectly with stuff like this, and I'm can't wait to hear more of it
*I
I agree, I love his folk songs. Whenever I hear this song, I get the most intense imagery and cry every time lol
wow thank you so much Kaleigh :) Really appreciate it! If you like the song you can get it for free at patreon.com/peterhollens if you sign up to give just $1/month! AND I'll put your name on the physical copies of my new Holiday album coming out at the end of this year! :D
This remains the most beautiful version of this song that I think I've ever heard!
👍
Awesome as always, Peter.
I don't know why I like this song so much. It's rather sad, to put it mildly. But I can't help it...
aww thanks so much! :D
peter any idea when and what your next song will be?
yes... master.
glad someone understood sw
***** You're welcome. As always... :-D
Have you ever thought about performing Caledonia? To me, it's on the same page as Danny Boy in a way. Or at least close by. It's a bit happier, but still kinda sad and very beautiful.
Well, to me, at least.
Your voice, combined with your technique is the eighth wonder of the world of music!
O Peter this is one my favorite folk songs you did an AWESOME JOB!!!! I'm looking forward to more folk songs. ;) :)
This is so beautiful, Peter! Thank you!!
thank you Dori! :D
This was one of my grandfather's favorite songs he would always sing. Can't listen without choking up. ❤
You did it! I can't believe I didn't get a notification, but you did it! It's everything I had hope for from you, sir. Thank you very much!
Good Lord! Every video you make is so gorgeous and well thought out. This has to be one of my new favorite videos of yours. Thanks for continuing to make these amazing videos and following your passion. You inspire a lot of people every single day and I'm one of them! THANK YOU. :'D
Taryn Harbridge I like him to sing Colors of the Wind

Peter Hollens
BENJAMIN HEFNER
Consider Greensleeves please 😊😊😊
www.gofundme.com is good for raising money too. Your songs & the way they made are amazing! Thank you for the pleasure to listen to them!
I am so glad he finally did this and Loch Lomond. I am a French Horn player so both of these songs/pieces have a special place in my heart. Thanks Peter.
I would be eternally grateful if you could do a HAMILTON medley.
PLEASE DO THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.
Brilliant
;) ;)
***** *gulps*
+Peter Hollens THATS A YES
This guy is the complete package... great hair... great stubble....great teeth and what pipes !!🧔
당신의 노래는 항상 옛 추억을 떠오르게 하네요! 너무나도 그리운 옛 추억들을~~
Can you do The Sky and The Dawn and The Sun? Its my favorite
I'll check it out :D
Really? YES YES YES YESSS!! Your da best! 3 hearts for you
Uhhh... WOW!!
Well then, be like that... ;)
Perfect for a Lindsey Stirling duo.
This is great! Can you do a cover of I'm Still Here from Teasure Planet! PLEASE!!! There aren't any good covers of that song on all of TH-cam!
Did you look at the cover Jonathan Young did of it? I really liked it, and maybe you could give it a look :)
meh, its good. :)
Caleb Hyles did a cover of it. Not too bad.
I second that motion you should do a cover of I'm Still Here.
oh man if I weren't on mobile I'd give you an upvote. It's one of my favorite Disney songs I really hope it happens!
Peter, you sound like an Irishman, an Irish tener, the song we sang at my dads funeral.
,,Give them hell Danny boy"
A DOCTOR WHO QUOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"A Good Man Goes To War"
A fellow whovian!
A Dinosaur On A Spaceship YEAH!!! Love the name by the way. Lol It is obvious you love DW.
Acoustic Reverb Hell yeah!
I love the video! Keep up the great work!
thanks Adan!
This was played at my grandfathers funeral, it was his favorite song and just listening to it makes me break into tears. Great cover of this song!
Sincerely, Gumbledalf
thank you for sharing, I'll consider :D
I feel like am watching a Disney movie. The feels!💫
thank you!! :D
This song was my grandfather's favorite. Would always bring him to tears. Beautifully done!
Beautiful. Would love to hear a cover of 'When the stars go blue' or 'Hey there Delilah'. Thinks they would do well rendered acapella.
Can you do some songs from the musical Cats?
Memory!
Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats would be so incredible though...
So it's safe to say he would do it "purr"-fectly?
KittyLEGOGirl I would die if he did memory.
If he did Macavity I would just die happily, same with Memory
For any band nerds out there, just imagine 2:09 played with a full horn line. 27th lancers used to do it and it was amazing but they aren’t around anymore. This was so well done, thank you peter.
I seriously hate when these selfish hacker groups attack beautiful artists like Peter who just wants to do his best to put out beautiful songs like this. Like why? Why can't we just love and laugh, why should we be bothered by this meaningless idiocy? I really do hate it! Hope you can restore your videos Peter, I love and support your work and am looking out for a lovely Hollens Christmas :D
It saddens me so much
Amen to that.
stop hatin'
You are filled with hate. Don't blame others for that.
Brings tears to my eyes I always cry when I hear this.
Please do a cover of Remember from the soundtrack of Troy by Josh Groban
My late grandads favourite song! Brings tears but its beautiful 😢❤
Could you please do "Bridge over troubled water"?
