It’s so frustrating seeing people against serious and thematic deep stories in Sonic games just because “it’s a cartoon blue hedgehog”. Trying to invalidate potential to tell engaging stories merely because of an abstract concept is extremely stupid.
The thing is is that it's tonally dissonant. Like... "Hey, here's a cast of cute, charming, funny characters! Let's see how they react to T H E H O R R O R S O F W A R."
I wouldn’t describe that as tonal dissonance at all, really- it’s just a function of the design philosophy, and you’d need something more extreme and more poorly-executed than simple color choice for the character designs to have a genuine negative impact on the writing itself. Would you be saying the same thing if we were talking about, say, the Sly trilogy? I also see that as a poor excuse to forego telling serious storylines, at any rate. A good writer with a lot of confidence in the concept they’re fleshing out is all you really need to avoid that trap, and Sonic IDW does a really good job of easing you into more serious storylines. Plus, Sonic *was* originally meant to be somewhat more serious than other platformers of its era right from the get-go, what with its emphasis on larger and more complex storylines from Sonic 2 onwards.
What people dont realize is that this series is allowed to do crazy stuff like that BECAUSE it's about a talking blue hedgehog. Once you design a character like that, rules kinda go out the window.
People who keep saying that stories shouldn't be serious at all because he's a "BlUe CaRtOoN hEdGeHoG" is the reason why this past DECADE of Sonic been boring ASF. ESPECIALLY when it comes to stories.
The one time I read that and I don't wanna vomit. Maybe because Whisper is leagues above being a better character than the hundreds of characters "journalist" deem "Prescious and must always protect her"
@@ShibuNub3305 Not really a simp, let's be real here whisper is the best character we're had in awhile I'd say and along with some of the other newer characters as well
Much like Blaze, Silver is a character I feel desperately needs more love. Sure, he debuted in a...less than amazing game, but he has SUCH cool powers that would make for SUCH fun gameplay!
I don’t think people realise just how absurdly busted Silver is lol Can hold bullets in place, lift heavy debris, and freeze people, all with seemingly minimal effort
Not to mention how those busted cool powers are balanced out by a naive yet well-meaning personality, too. Even in 06 (and Rivals and Team Sonic Racing), he wanted the best for everyone. He just lacked the social awareness to realize he was being duped (or the target of sarcasm). 😅
Honestly there are only two moments in the Sonic franchise that made me feel emotional: The end credits scene withe everyone talking after Shadow's death in SA2, and Whisper's backstory. Sonic getting genuinely happy to finally get a high-five in the movie got pretty close to do it too.
@Abrilla 2 M Not in a cartoon, in Sonic Adventure 2. Or at least, he was supposed to be dead, but they decided to bring him back later. Though considering that at the time Sonic Adventure 2 was supposed to be the last Sonic game, with SEGA possibly going bankrupt, the original intent was obviously for him to stay dead.
@@madengineerkyouma Hell, Shadow was a last-minute inclusion to Heroes. Big, Chaos, and Gamma were supposed to be a team before overwhelming popularity forced Shadow back into the fray, warranting a restructure of the teams.
I really like how they handled Whisper. She successfully averted a lot of issues I usually have with characters like her. As you pointed out, as of now she’s much more of a trauma victim than an introvert, which leaves room for future character development as she heals and lets go of her past. Though that‘s gonna take a while. I honestly felt the worst for her in the current arc, exactly what she feared would happen happened and it’s Eggman’s fault once again. The reunion is gonna be adorable though.
Whisper has the best design. Shes easily my favorite non game sonic character. And if she became canon to the games, I'd have no doubt she'd be either my absolute favorite or at least top 3 sonic characters period. I hope she becomes canon. Her and tangle. And that's coming from someone who HATED the archie cast and glad they stayed solely in the comics.
@@yourehereforthatarentyou most of the entire cast. Theres not many characters they made up I cared for. Most just didnt feel right. I didnt like how they focused a lot more on the made up characters than the main game cast besides the main trio (team sonic). The designs were also not fitting before they redesigned them but by then I didnt care. Tangle and whisper were introduced organically, have good designs, and personalities that fit so well into the main cast. They also arent shoved in there too much in the main series. They have their own side comics for that. I think all the new characters in IDW were just handled better. They didnt overshadow or anything.
There is something very funny about being here early from patreon, and you watch this really good video about a somber, sad character and it's just titled 'whisper' in lower case.
When you mention themes like the pain of loss....not gunna lie.....I felt the pain of losing Chipp in Unleashed. Little guy was likeable for me and I did wish he interacted with all of Sonics friends
Ok another awesomely designed character who's design looks absolutely cool. Unrelated to whisper is sliver. I'm just really waiting for the silver idw video because idw did a better job introducing silver than Sega did in his debut game. Silver is such a happy goofball in the comics and despite being from a broken future he still is happy and optimistic. As for whisper I think she's a decent character. I personally like tangle more but whisper is another really interesting and great character.
@@GameApologist yep I'm especially found of the world's collide crossover with capcom. Silver is one of my favorite sonic characters and I think the comics did him justice unlike the games.
Whisper is freaking awesome. I love her, and I love that she's shy and has trouble talking to people. I can relate heavily. Her and tangle need to be in the games.
I relate to both. Both shy and wanting to be alone and energetic and trying to stay with friends heavily depending on the situation! (Plus I love 'em as characters, so much that I'm sad they didn't make it into Forces since they came right after it)
"I might be an optimist, but I'm also a realist... " Quote Silver I love how they gave Silver this type of hyper anxiety. It makes sense with his original character origin. I also like how they built more on the loneliness Silver felt in the future. It mayde sense and added more depth to his personality.
Shit got onto the topic of suffering with loss as someone who doesn't like showing themselves to the world much and I felt so understood. Then that shit straight up faded to black and played some cheery special stage music and I about lost it I wont lie to yall.
She is literraly Sniper Wolf from MGS while her squad is the rest of FOXHOUND. Now I want Shadow Androids with Solid, Liquid and Solidus personalities.
That's usually the design philosophy in the Sonic Universe: anthropormorphic animals that don't do what normal animals can do. Hedgehogs don't run fast, foxes don't fly, echidnas can't punch, and the two characters that were made here do things their normal counterparts don't do. Ring tailed lemurs don't have prehensile tails, and wolves are known to be loud animals.
"Her ghost babies" Is the most precious way to say it. OH WOW WHISPER HAS EYES! Tbh I thought she was blind or had no eyes till now. Oof Also should we ship SilverXWhisper? "You can't cananize a the red wolf" The fandom : Watch us prove you wrong.
Thank you for this video. It's validating to hear a voice about introverts in relation to my favorite fandom. I identify closely with Whisper, to the point where I'd like to cosplay her one day. Wartime is usually a touchy subject for general audiences, especially if there are children involved. As a writer, I can say that Ian Flynn handled the Tangle & Whisper miniseries masterfully, especially during Whisper's exposition. It is hard to give an introvert a "light-hearted" backstory. Whisper and I have had a pair of life-loving rose-tinted glasses that were shattered by betrayal. Please, Ian, protecc Whisper. She is gud gunwulfe.
Here we go. THIS is what I was waiting for. Whisper has to be my favourite Sonic character in the series. Here are my reasons: -Her design: HOLY COW. Evan did an amazing job on this character design. The face, the outfit and the mask. It's all fantastic. Her abilities: I'm one of those rare fans that actually likes the Wisps (Though, I can still admit that SEGA has screwed up their execution after Colors). And its soo nice to see a character (besides the Avatar) that primarily uses them. I also love that she is a sniper with the Variable Wispon. We don't get alot if Sonic heroes that focus heavily on long range. And the Color Powers she uses for it are neat. Her personality/backstory: I like that she is quiet and introverted type. Makes her stand out a bit from the IDW group. Her backstory is pretty cool too. I had a feeling something happened to her since she was pretty pissed at that Eggamn symbol in Issue 8. But I didn't expect her past to be soo...........sad. Won't spoil it for those who haven't read the miniseries, but let's just say, this wolf needs a hug. Especially for what happens in the Metal Virus Arc. Also, her relationship with Tangle is good👍🏼. In conclusion, I just love this character. Didn't expect my favourite Sonic character to be from the comics, but here we are. Can't wait to see more of her in future issues.
I'm someone who likes the wisps in theory, and then grew to find them redundant once I thought about how often they reappear and what lost potential we'd otherwise have without them. Getting into that is nothing short of an essay. However, taking what is canonically established, I love how they adapted the avatar and wisp aspect into a real character that combines all those gameplay and background ideas into one of the most lovable characters in the series. I wish we could get a spin off game following Whisper and Tangle while giving screen time to secondary characters like Silver. I want a game with Whisper terribly.
Screwed wisps in colors?Colors introduced wisps, and they work best on it.The only variable between whisper and the avatar is the avatar can lowkey be joker from personia while whisper is stable in her design, the only other difference is that the avatar didn't take long to become a part of sonic's team considiring he is you,and the fact that he uses different th of wispons instead of multiple wisps for one weapon.
I honestly like Whisper alot too though one thing I want to see is,Why did she open her eyes in that issue when she saw Shadow? Did one of Infinite' clones harm her family or when Shadow faced up against the Jackal Squad (and killed them), did one of those jackals related to Whisper? With this kind of writing Im surprised SEGA doesnt consider making Ian do the writing for Sonic games.
Yo there adding both tangle and wisper as playable characters to sonic forces speed battle. It’s not much but it’s the first time they acknowledge a sonic comic character in a game (even if this is a mobile game) sense sonic spinball!
08:56 WHOA! CRAP YES AFTER ALMOST A DECADE ANOTHER SONIC CHARACTER WHICH IS SILVER OFFICIALLY SAID A SWEARING PROFANITY WORD YEAH! 09:28 Game Apologist: Yep, Nature is definitely beautiful... Whisper's best quote so far: " Never forgive, Never forget "
Please, talk about starline. Or Mimic/the diamond cutters. Or rough & tumble. Or all of the above. IDW doesn't shower us with non-game characters (unlike archie, where only like 10% of characters actually appeared in the games), which means that even in the few issues we have already, these characters already feel so developed and detailed. Not only that, they feel like they could actually appear in the games - something which many archie characters can't relate to. Please, don't get me wrong though. I bear no ill will towards archie sonic. I know the series is loved by fans and set both records and standards. I just feel like IDW handled their OCs better, more specifically, how many they introduced in what time span.
Here's the thing though, most of the team at IDW are the same folks who did the Archie run. They just had a 'clean' slate to work with and not having to worry about 20 plus years of comic history and Penders stuff. So yeah, building off of the last game from the ground up lets them carefully introduce us to this new world and new faces in a well put together manner.
Console Warriors Not only that, but they now have years more experience under their belts, both with Sonic and with the making of comics in general. As good as Archie is, it’d be crazy to not expect some form of improvement over that long a period of time.
I got serious "on the spectrum" vibes from Whisper. I have to go back and look at the mini-series again, but even in her flashback I feel like that. Also I didn't realise the Wisp/Whisper thing until a second before you pointed it out!
This little series on sonic IDW has had 2 effects on me: I just bought the first volume on google play with full intentions of reading not only it, but hopefully all subsequent issues, if the comics really are as good as you`ve made them out to be, even though i`m not much of a comics guy (although I`d absolutly love to get my hands on sonic fleetway for the sheer crazy that seems to happen in that series), and it has also made me realize that is SEGA actually wants sonic to survive and stay relevant, they absolutly NEED to hand creative and developpment control of all future games to people like christian whitehead and Ian Flynn, who are big fans of the series, or atleast have a good understanding of these characters and what they`ve come to represent to us, and actually have the capability to move the series forward and evolve it into something better and more cohesive than what sonic team has done as of late.
@@kage2701 thanks, I might check it out soon. I`m fascinated af by fleetway super sonic Edit: As it turns out I had already acquired issues 1-223 of sonic fleetway in ebook form through totaly legitimate means, at some point in the past and had simply forgotten about it, partly because older comics use a less vibrant color pallet which kind of puts me off these books, and partly because reading a comic book on my phone isn`t nearly as engaging as reading the real thing, but getting my hands on legit physical copies of the whole thing would be time consuming, way more money than I`d be willing to spend, and take up alot of space that I simply don`t have. Thanks again for the tip though

So this concept is so cool! Like her whole story has got some flare, being apart of the sonic fandom for so long it's hard not to picture some of these new characters like OC's but I mean... it's not all bad! If I saw Whisper and Tangle in an OC fanfic they would defs be the best parts of those fanfics! They don't chew up much scenery and have flaws to balance their powers! Nothing but love here!
Whisper is the most adorable and precious awoo bean and we must protecc. Speaking seriously though, she is absolutely my favourite Sonic character and damn, I want to see so much more of her going forward. I love her characterisation, her design, her stories...Whisper is easily one of the best parts of the IDW comics.

@@Distant_Dubstep Whispers team is called the Diamond Cutters, they even had one of the members say "Your pretty Good" if that wasn't on the nose enough. I appreciate the reference so don't take that as a bad thing, just fun to point out.
@@NoxideActive thats so unbelievably reaching. Even if those where legitimate references neither have to do with MGS1 and thus have nothing to do with Sniper Wolf and the rest of Foxhound. "You're pretty good" Is a phrase only ever said by Naked Snake once and multiple times by Ocelot after Naked Snake said that to him during operation Snake Eater and that's not getting into how common that phrase is. Also just cuz the word Diamond is in their team's name doesn't mean anything. Yes the successor to MSF was called Diamond Dogs but Diamond Cutters is not a explicit reference to that by any means. If instead or Cutters was a word that also started with D that would hold a little more weight but as it stands that's reaching.
This is why I like whispers and she is my favorite sonic character. She's relatable to people like me. A talented introvert capable of so many things. And as you said there's something that MADE her the way she is just like real life. She has her break downs and sad moments just like most introverted people. Stay cool whisper fans
I personally wasn't an introvert my whole life, thank go I didn't experience war and shit but like, I've been in less than enjoyable situations 1 too many times, it's not a choice, it just, changes you, my life is now fine and, changing back proves to be an actual effort you have to invest ennergy in, so, even after having healed from the trauma, it might be troppy to close back onto yourself, but it does happen in real life.
I just watched both your videos on Tangle and Whisper. I have to say that you have given me a new appreciation for both these characters. I already loved and adored them, but you have enlarged that feeling tenfold! Your deep explanation of the existence of these characters and the reasoning behind their behavior has opened a whole new world of thought I didn’t have before! You may think I’m over exaggerating, but I’m really not. Thank you for making these videos, and thank you for increasing my already huge amount of love for these characters, the comics, and the whole franchise!
I have a rather unpopular opinion; I like the wisps. Sonic colours is my favourite sonic game, and I remember making my own wisps. (I didn't even know of the existence of lost world, since at the time I didn't know about Google. To me, the wisps are adorable little aliens, and my favourite would have to be the jade ghost wisp and cyan Lazer wisp. Also, speaking of colours, can I talk about the music? If eggman ever recreates a second tropical resort, I better hear a great remix of the music
Being an introvert, I can really sympathize and empathize with Whisper! Her, and Tangle, are both my newest favorite characters! Whisper's just fricken adorable, and deserves the best in life!
I love this character. I felt like wolves would make good character designs in Sonic the Hedgehog. So I'm glad to see that happen. If it's happened before, then I've missed it. (And I don't mean the custom character wolf design in the Forces game; I mean in the comics.) Plus I love her mask and personality and design and weapon.. basically everything about her. She's really cool. Also, I love everything you said about introversion. It's so true.
Jonathan Abrams There was Lupe the Wolf and her clan from SatAM and the Archie comics. She looked great, but you can tell she is an Archie character from her hair. Whisper is much more in line with how the designs for the games are composed.
Whisper’s design also took inspiration from Sniper Wolf from the Metal Gear Solid series and Kopaka, the Toa of Ice from Bionicle. I know, that’s too good to be true that Bionicle and Metal Gear characters had a part in inspiration for a Sonic character.
@amethyst capricorn It's a story of two kids slowly starving to death. That's really heavy, even for an adult. I'd recommend it for teens, and certainly young adults, but it's too big a concept for younger children to understand, at least in the manner presented in this film. That's just my opinion, but it is an educated one. I could expand on the topic if you would like.
Love how you cued Silver's theme (my favorite Sonic theme) when Silver came along. I wish Sega would losen the leash on IDW/Ian Flynn so the comics which are great now but can be even better!
the fact that Whisper was originally designed off of an oc from forces is so amazing to me. That's also what I've done with my own sonic oc lol I love how they expanded on her so much from the game version and gives me some inspiration to go beyond what the sonic forces customization can do
Whisper's Eyes are possibly Sensitive, for what ever reason that their closed all the time, She most likely uses that Mask as a way to help see better. But that's just my Thoughts, whats everybody else think?.
Why can't poor Whisper ever catch a freaking break?! Yeesh! Even Shadow gets a respite occasionally, and he's an edgelord! Someone wrap this doggo in a lemur tail, bury her in a pile of wisps, SOMETHING. Poor little floof.
whisper seems awesome. I also forgot bunnie existed until I saw her in a sonic mod. that seems so cool, I wish she could return, with extending limbs, and shes half robot. she could have the roller wheels like mecha sonic instead of a dropdash which would be cool and all :) but back to whisper: ALSO REALLY COOL AND AWESOME DESIGN. I WANT
Whisper is an amazing introverted hero, just like Knuckles was before he was turned into the stereotypical meathead. She's by far my favorite character of the new comic, and I hope we see a lot more of her; in *_all_* media.
It's hard for me to pick a favourite between Whisper and Tangle, but Whisper might be it, by a hair's breadth. I really appreciate what you had to say about her being an introvert and maybe that's why he resonates so much with me. Thanks for another great video. I can't afford to support you on Patreon, but I've shared this one on Facebook at least. Hope that helps. :)
Another great vid nick. With whisper, at first, when she was revealed I wasn’t too sure about her but by god, she’s great. Her story, her character and of course her relationships with everyone, especially tangle. I loved her debut issue, just how it handled her and silver alone. It was great to see silver just become this massive dork. I much prefer him like that personally. Obviously the whole tangle and whisper mini series was great along with everything that whisper did following. I think we all would want whisper in a game, personally I’d love her over the OC but that’s just me. Regardless, I’m still really enjoying this series and again, the thumbnail for this video is fantastic! Can’t wait for the next one
Whisper, like Tangle, is a wonderful character. I feel very sorry for her comrades, she is a tragic character, but she is strong! Game Apologist, thank you very much, it's nice to listen to you!
I agree with the comments about introverts always having a tragic backstory. I'm absolutely an introvert. I've been working from home for three months now due to covid-19 and my mood and productivity have increased so much that my boss wants work from home to continue even after things go back to normal. But the thing is, there's no tragic backstory for me, I just much prefer my own company and to be away from people in quiet places.
I unlocked her in sonic forces speed battle and I’ve never seen her before so I came here cause I really like her. She’s fun. It was cool to learn the lore of her moves with your video. It feels so satisfying to zap with her! Lol she even has her hover ability. I agree, a sonic shooter with her sounds like it’d be super fun.
If they insist on using the Wisps in the games, which seems kind of pointless to me since most of the abilities they provide are ones that would be better suited to Sonic's friends, but if they do keep using them then I personally think that they should be exclusive to Whisper the Wolf. Yes Sega, bring Tangle and Whisper into the bloody games. Even bring in Jewel the Beetle as a background character. Who's with me?
The best part about her for me is that she's a walking "talking" Metal Gear Reference! A sniper wolf from a boss that looks surprisingly like Mother Base/Big She'll, who's team was named the Diamond Cutters instead of Diamond Dogs, a team comprised mostly of parodies Foxhound members, including a psychic and an ocelot with a Revolver, and her main enemy is a Decoy Octopus named "Mimic". She's PERFECTLY integrated to the point where if you don't know MG she still fits, but if you do, you can't help but notice! I LOVE IT!
Honestly, Whisper's backstory with her the rest of her team being sold out and killed by one of their own reminds me of Nico Bellic's backstory for GTA 4. Specifically the part where Nico was apart a small platoon when his country was in a deadly Civil War. One of their comrades had sold them out and lead them into an ambush. All but three were killed.
3:05 I watched the story mode cutscenes from Sonic Rivals 1 and 2 the other day, and I noticed that nobody ever *tells* Sonic that Silver's from the future; so I like the idea that Sonic just doesn't know. Also, Silver? One of the stars of one of the best known (for all the wrong reasons) Sonic games? Obscure? 4:03 Oh. I thought was because after the time eater incident Silver got dumped into Sonic's current timeline and just decided to stick around. 5:10 Yeah, that's one of the things that bugged me about Sonic Forces, too. You seriously mean to tell me that Infinite swung things so hard that he was able to overwhelm all of Sonic's friends, at least three of which were at one point able to stand up and call themselves a rival of Sonic's?
You gotta remember that outside of our little bubble, how many people ACTUALLY know Silver? Yeah he is prominent in the fanbase...but I imagine a lot of gamers probably only know him from a bad Sonic game, or might not even know him at all. Tails, Knuckles, and even Amy really don't need THAT much introduction, but Silver probably does. Same with Blaze. They have dedicated fans, but this book needs to introduce them to people who have never heard of them at all and they have SO much backstory to go over.
@@GameApologist Also they haven't really DONE anything with Silver since his first appearance (and Rivals). He just shows up from the future and has no real impact in any of his appearances. The comics are finally doing something with him (though he did have some great stories in Archie) and giving him a personality so he's finally a character rather than just a guy with cool powers who just shows up to go gokarting or play Olympics every now and then.
How I would use her. She makes me think of the white death, a sniper who was part of a war against Russia. While Sonic lead rebellion in the west, Whisper would face the trials and traumas coming out of the Eastern European side of things
"Sonic doesn't need to worry. Cause he's friends with the ammunition." Gun: GUN OPEN UP!!! Shadow: HA you can't shoot me! Gun: Give us a reason and we will! Shadow: Whatever Bullets: *come out and roll around the ground* Gun: What da frik?
When I first saw her she reminded me of Ana from Overwatch. I loved her design and back story and the cute interaction with silver and tangle. Overall good character.
@@GameApologist well I play the game. I haven't seen much people mentioned that in videos about her. Did you know that tangle and whisper are on Sonic forces mobile!
Tangle, Whisper and Mimic are in my top tier favorite Sonic characters in all of Sonic media. Tangle is so bubbly and fun-loving, but has so much more to offer then just her extroverted personality. Her character growth is great, and her empathy is so deep. Whisper kicks rear with the best of them. She is quite literally a trained soldier, so much so that the comic hints she and her previous team could have rivaled the resistance in ability. Yet she's a very gentle person, and a solid friend you can call when times are tough and your back's against the wall. Mimic reminds me so much of mcu Loki; an intelligent, deadly shape shifter with a razor sharp tounge and a love for knives. Mimic's powerset is epic and - probably a unpopular opinion - if I had to choose between Infinite, Starline, or Mimic getting a redemption arc I'd choose Mimic. Tinker and Metal's redemption arcs fell through, so I'm really hoping we'll get a redemption arc soon that holds up.
Whisper is a great character. She grows as a character. She tends to be alone and shy after what happened to her friends but when she meet tangle and had many adventures with her she starts to be more trusting also she gets brutal when she lost Tangle to the Zombots. Silver is a fanboy over her like literally.

@@theinimitablejora522 Yeah, and sadly he was mostly misused and misrepresented in every game since then except for Battle and, weirdly, 06.
what about gamma in SA1? I thought his story was better than the others in that game, imo.
Can someone just tell me her backstory
The part where it shouts "BURST!" was by far the funniest part, I died 🤣
"We'll talk about that later" the video
And that's coming from someone who HATED the archie cast and glad they stayed solely in the comics.
why do you hate the archie cast?
the freedom fighters specifically, or just like, everyone in archie
@@yourehereforthatarentyou most of the entire cast. Theres not many characters they made up I cared for. Most just didnt feel right. I didnt like how they focused a lot more on the made up characters than the main game cast besides the main trio (team sonic). The designs were also not fitting before they redesigned them but by then I didnt care.
Tangle and whisper were introduced organically, have good designs, and personalities that fit so well into the main cast. They also arent shoved in there too much in the main series. They have their own side comics for that. I think all the new characters in IDW were just handled better. They didnt overshadow or anything.
Sadly, she won't, you know Sega.
@@dragondelsur5156 Well IDW seems more like the games so they most likely will do something
The IDW comics are canon.
There is something very funny about being here early from patreon, and you watch this really good video about a somber, sad character and it's just titled 'whisper' in lower case.
before i read this comment is saw the time and was like youtube hello?
When you mention themes like the pain of loss....not gunna lie.....I felt the pain of losing Chipp in Unleashed. Little guy was likeable for me and I did wish he interacted with all of Sonics friends
Same. At least he's always watching in a way

I feel so bad for Whisper after what happened to Tangle in the ongoing zombie robot arc.
I personally like tangle more but whisper is another really interesting and great character.
hearing it from someone literaly called edge lord kinda hurts, but i cant agree more
Actually, silver was very well introduced in 06,it is the games reputation that him look bad, same with shadow, his character was at best in 06.
edge lord why are you everywhere
Have you read his Archie stories? They do some really interesting stuff with the character there too!
Agreed
I relate to both.
Both shy and wanting to be alone and energetic and trying to stay with friends heavily depending on the situation!
(Plus I love 'em as characters, so much that I'm sad they didn't make it into Forces since they came right after it)
I really like Whisper.
She does the cute thing and the badass thing at the same time.
Plus, she’s a wolf.

Silver is just a nice guy. Peeps can be nice and not want a relationship.

"I might be an optimist, but I'm also a realist... "

I love how they gave Silver this type of hyper anxiety. It makes sense with his original character origin. I also like how they built more on the loneliness Silver felt in the future. It mayde sense and added more depth to his personality.
3:13 Dreams of an absolution is an amazing song. Thanks for including it. Also the jokes were funny. Please continue with them.

That’s a bit weird that the name is “Whisper the Wolf” when wolves howl at the moon.
That's probably the point.
[insert funny name here] man, you have a funny name!
@@skaionex yeah, I think this contradiction is to show that Whisper is more introverted than Other Wolves in the Sonic Universe
i think her name's partially a pun about wisps, wisp, whisp, whisper
edit: oh, also mentioned in the vid itself
That's usually the design philosophy in the Sonic Universe: anthropormorphic animals that don't do what normal animals can do. Hedgehogs don't run fast, foxes don't fly, echidnas can't punch, and the two characters that were made here do things their normal counterparts don't do. Ring tailed lemurs don't have prehensile tails, and wolves are known to be loud animals.
"Her ghost babies"
Is the most precious way to say it.
OH WOW WHISPER HAS EYES!

Also should we ship SilverXWhisper?
"You can't cananize a the red wolf"
The fandom : Watch us prove you wrong.
Whisper has to be my favourite Sonic character in the
series. Here are my reasons:
-Her design: HOLY COW.
@@ahmadkazan7994 I said their execution was screwed AFTER Colors.
@@amazaine8743 Your answer for why Whisper looked at Shadow like that, is already in the 4 part Tangle and Whisper miniseries.
Yo there adding both tangle and wisper as playable characters to sonic forces speed battle. It’s not much but it’s the first time they acknowledge a sonic comic character in a game (even if this is a mobile game) sense sonic spinball!

Console Warriors
Not only that, but they now have years more experience under their belts, both with Sonic and with the making of comics in general. As good as Archie is, it’d be crazy to not expect some form of improvement over that long a period of time.
Okay, Nick, hear me out here.
"And this is Sonic speed reading, where we have a need for read."
Eh? Ehh???
I think "the need to read" sounds better-

@@Vivigreeny25 Very reasonable, I agree.
If you want to read fleetway it's on readcomiconline.to
@@kage2701 thanks, I might check it out soon. I`m fascinated af by fleetway super sonic
Edit: As it turns out I had already acquired issues 1-223 of sonic fleetway in ebook form through totaly legitimate means, at some point in the past and had simply forgotten about it, partly because older comics use a less vibrant color pallet which kind of puts me off these books, and partly because reading a comic book on my phone isn`t nearly as engaging as reading the real thing, but getting my hands on legit physical copies of the whole thing would be time consuming, way more money than I`d be willing to spend, and take up alot of space that I simply don`t have. Quick trivia: Did you know that Whisper is a reference to Sniper Wolf from Metal Gear Solid and her team is basically the FOXHOUND team?
As a die hard fan of MGS I honestly don't see it
@@Distant_Dubstep Whisper is a wolf and her weapon is a sniper.
Nice
That moment in the recording where he realized the “Wisp” pun in her name was the exact same time I realized it.
Silver, what a Chad, I do think that silver was pretty good in this issue.
Nice video man!
Jonathan Abrams
There was Lupe the Wolf and her clan from SatAM and the Archie comics.
The entirety of the diamond cutters are just a parody of mgs1 FOXHOUND
Killing Maria with a wisp had me dead
4:52 in the circle panel, Silver looks just like an excited kid!
What if Whisper had a dance move that consisted of a rhythmic moonwalk with an equally rhythmic back-and-forth head bob?
Me after issue 8: "I've only had Whisper for a day and a half, but if anything happened to her I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself."
0:12 Grave of the Fireflies is not something I would recommend for children.
She's adorable! I hope she can get through her tragic backstory and come out the better for it...
Love how you cued Silver's theme (my favorite Sonic theme) when Silver came along. I wish Sega would losen the leash on IDW/Ian Flynn so the comics which are great now but can be even better!
15:33 Man, Archie was wild.
the fact that Whisper was originally designed off of an oc from forces is so amazing to me. That's also what I've done with my own sonic oc lol I love how they expanded on her so much from the game version and gives me some inspiration to go beyond what the sonic forces customization can do
Eggman used the wisps because the woodland creatures all grew up in forces 😂😂
Whisper is baby and I love her. She might have swiftly jumped to my Top 5 Sonic characters in the few days since I met her.
Whisper's Eyes are possibly Sensitive, for what ever reason that their closed all the time, She most likely uses that Mask as a way to help see better.
But that's just my Thoughts, whats everybody else think?.

Remember Tails this is a opportunity to bring freedom to whole world just TAKE THE SHOT!
whisper is singlehandedly my favorite sonic character, and one of my favorite characters in general, thanks for shining some light on her, yo
Knuckles is introverted and he doesn't have a tragic backstory.
I unlocked her in sonic forces speed battle and I’ve never seen her before so I came here cause I really like her. She’s fun. It was cool to learn the lore of her moves with your video. Stealth game with whisper as the main character.
How u felt about "whisper" and whisp is how i felt when u referred to her as a lone WOLF
I LOVE IT!
Finally, someone who appreciates the cuteness of Whisper
Honestly, Whisper's backstory with her the rest of her team being sold out and killed by one of their own reminds me of Nico Bellic's backstory for GTA 4. Specifically the part where Nico was apart a small platoon when his country was in a deadly Civil War. One of their comrades had sold them out and lead them into an ambush. All but three were killed.
"Hey, Whisper, it's Tangle. You want to shoot some pool?"
Considering a line from the japanese version of Team Sonic Racing, it's implied that Sonic remembers those events.
How I would use her. She makes me think of the white death, a sniper who was part of a war against Russia. While Sonic lead rebellion in the west, Whisper would face the trials and traumas coming out of the Eastern European side of things
It’s fun hearing you talking about the comics.
"Sonic doesn't need to worry. Cause he's friends with the ammunition."
Gun: GUN OPEN UP!!!
Shadow: HA you can't shoot me!
Gun: Give us a reason and we will!
Shadow: Whatever
Bullets: *come out and roll around the ground*
Gun: What da frik?
I REALLY love this new character! She’s shy, cool, badass, has a good arc and has a great dynamic with Tangle.
When I first saw her she reminded me of Ana from Overwatch. I loved her design and back story and the cute interaction with silver and tangle. Overall good character.
Yeah she does sort of have Overwatch vibes. Good catch!
Silver is a fanboy over her like literally.
>youtuber is called game apologist.
>has been talking about comics in the past few weeks.
Im not complaining the irony doesn't miss on me.
